I Am Tired Of Being A Hero
Chapter 115: Selling the jewel

Chapter 115: Selling the jewel

Ravi waited for Asher to come out while he washed the plates and cleaned up the kitchen. When the other came out, Ravi raised his eyebrow.

"I can change."

"No," Ravi said when the surprise faded. The other looked a bit like him, with black hair and hazel eyes. He bent down to look at those eyes, as a painter, he could describe it as a masterpiece, even the position of the gold flecks was identical. It was uncanny. He smiled and patted the other’s head, "Your true self is still cuter."

Something flashed in those hazel eyes and Ravi could not tell what it was. Did he not believe him? Or was it something else?

He recalled Malik’s words and thought for a few seconds. The box in the garden had treasures that did not look like they were crafted anyplace on Earth but the one under his bed, he teleported to his bedroom and pulled out the box under the bed.

It was filled with all manners of items, he searched until he found a ring that looked a bit rusty. The gold band was rusty but the emerald stone set in the center was clear and beautiful.

He didn’t remember which world he had gotten this from or the person who had given it to him, he knew that the ring could make the owner a little bit lucky. How lucky, it was none of his concern. He did not have much luck when he wore it anyway.

That should do it.

He appeared downstairs and looked at Asher, "Let’s go."

The last time that they had gone out together, Asher had been a tiny kitten that he had placed in his pocket but he could not do the same now. He closed the door when he heard a voice in his mind.

"Please buy a loaf of bread and a can of sardines for me."

The familiar gentleness laced the voice making Ravi raise an eyebrow. "And some drinks. Malt drink for Sage. I would transfer the money to you."

Ravi checked the barrier around his mind, it was still intact. He knew Malik was strong but still, his lips twitched.

He could lower the barrier and communicate with him but Ravi did not want to. He might have told Arlen that Malik was a good person but he did not trust that he would not go deeper, if he let a little gap open.

Hunter always did.

It is like you with wine. You say you would drink one glass then you want to take another."

Thinking of his dead friend made his eyes soften but surprisingly the thought of Hunter did not come with the sharp spike that it always had. He took out his phone and sent Malik a message.

That was rude

His reply was the sound of knocking in his mind. Ravi’s lips twitched when he heard the other’s voice.

Excuse me, May I come in?

He closed his eyes and water came from all directions, flooding his mind. The fortress in his mind’s space began to sink until all that could see was a beautiful blue. As the intruder, Ravi’s phone beeped.

That is impressive

Ravi chuckled and felt Asher’s gaze on him, he explained.

"That was Malik."

He replied, Bread, Sardine, Malt. Got it.

He did not stop creating his mental barrier as he walked, and at the shore of the sea, there was a little bungalow. At this moment, If Malik could try again, he would notice he would be able to send his thoughts across once more.

Ravi and Asher reached the end of the alley and he stretched his hand and the other took in. The two of them disappeared, their atoms reconstructed next to the Old Girls College.

Ravi took out his phone and checked where to sell the ring, it was not far from there. It had good reviews but the way the reviews were worded, Ravi had a feeling that it was written by the same person but there was nothing he could do about that.

He was prepared to be ripped off. This was Davenport after all but he would rather sell the jewel here than in the bigger cities.

The doorbell tinkled softly as he stepped into the store with bold golden ’Emeric written on the signboard.

There were rows and rows of jewelry in cases around the shop. At the counter was a middle-aged man with sharp eyes and a warm smile.

"Good afternoon, Sir. What are you looking for? We have a shipmate of rings that came in today, would you like to see them?"

"Ash. You can look around. Be careful." Ravi said to him as he went to the counter, "I don’t want to buy, I want to sell."

"Sure. We have very good prices for you. Can I see the ring?"

Ravi nodded and passed over the ring to the man. He hesitated and with a deadpan expression, he recited, "It was my great-grandmother’s wedding ring. When she crossed the ocean from the outskirts after her village was destroyed by the eruption of a Nest, she swallowed the ring so that it would not be stolen, she only did the operation to remove it from her stomach after she arrived in Alstria. It had been passed down from my grandmother, my mother and me. But..." He raised his hand to his face, "I would not sell it if I did not have to."

He then looked at the man who was looking at him in shock. The man let out a deep breath and then said with both shock and amusement, "We have all watched Tsa heritage. That scene is in Episode 4."

Ravi heard the sound of muffled laughter and he turned to see Asher, looking at a piece of tiara with intense focus while his shoulders shook suspiciously.

He turned back to the man, "That is an emerald and it belonged to my ancestors."

A small smile played on the man’s lips, "I know."
