I Am Tired Of Being A Hero -
Chapter 109: The feelings he kept buried in his heart
Chapter 109: The feelings he kept buried in his heart
He was the most beautiful person that Ravi had ever met, sure the Netherworld and all the realms he had visited were filled with various kinds of beauty, earth-shattering, heaven-defying beauty but never had anyone graced his eyes the way Arlen did.
He seemed to glow every day, the more he knew, the more beautiful was.
He was the kindest and warmest person Ravi knew. It was as if his soul itself was a small ball of fire, radiating the kind of warmth that one would crave after coming from a winter storm.
Ravi’s life was a winter storm or perhaps that is not an apt description. Perhaps his life was more like a blank canvas or a still well, whatever it was, whatever shape it took, there was no sun in it. No light. No warmth until Arlen.
So many nights Ravi clutched a wine jar and many mornings greeted him passed out on the roof. He really did not care if the sky fell on him and crushed him to pieces nor if the house sinks down and buries in the soil.
Like his life was a kaleidoscope of grays until a fool blocked him on the way to the office. With eyes the colors of the clearest sea he had ever seen. A beautiful ocean blue.
If something should happen to this person.
The thought made his entire body tremble. It was as if his entire heart had been gripped by sharp claws. Even breathing became painful.
The thought...Ravi could not bear it.
A deep terror swept through Ravi’s body, "Arlen!" The scream tore from his lips and he moved without thinking.
"Ravi!" Lisa wanted to rush and stop him but Dravo held her back.
"What are you doing?" He shouted, his heart beating so fast, "His ability is to heal himself, you...would just die."
Lisa pursed her lips and turned to look at the middle-aged man, "If anything happens to my colleagues. You would wish you had died in that fire." Her eyes were extremely cold, scaring Draco.
Ravi did not know what was happening behind him and he honestly did not care. The temperature was very high and the lack of oxygen caused him to feel a faint sense of dizziness but he quickly adapted.
He was afraid, so very afraid. Had he been this afraid, even in Luxor?
The flames licked at his side, the scorching pain on his legs, "Arlen!"
He screamed again as he pushed the burning door down. Arlen was upstairs, the woman was also upstairs.
The house in front of him began to rearrange itself, the fire reducing drastically. Ravi felt the man outside cosmic energy tries to enter the house, smashing against him. He moved his fingers and Ryan was smashed against the car door.
He coughed and the stairs moved, disappearing along with the flames that surrounded it.
Upstairs was much hotter. The smoke clouded his eyes, making him cough. Ravi just wanted to smash this entire house to bits as he squeezed the smoke into a ball and sent it out of the window. As it cleared, he could finally see a silhouette in one of the rooms. It was Arlen.
Ravi felt scared. Complete and Utter fear. Sentinels were not meant to feel fear but Ravi felt the thread of terror wrapping around his heart and squeezing tightly.
Arlen had fallen over someone, covering someone with his body. Fresh air rushed into the fire as he sent the smoke out, causing the flames to explode even more. It was like they were in a kind of hell that can only be seen in the Netherworld.
"Arlen!" He rushed to his side and placed his hand on his neck. It was warm, pulsing with blood. His breathing was poor, oxygen deprivation.
"Arlen!"
"Arlen! Thank Heavens." Ravi whispered his name like a prayer on his lips. He couldn’t care less about the badly burned woman on the ground.
He placed both hands on Arlen’s cheeks, "Arlen!" The fire was always difficult to control, the water molecules in the atmosphere moved with delicate flow, they condensed, and began to move closer and closer until they coalesced into larger raindrops. Heavy clouds began to gather overhead, swirling and darkening. The next few seconds, it began to rain, the drops falling through the holes in the room.
Ravi pulled Arlen to himself. Carefully, Gently, like he was handling the most precious of treasures. He had never used his power so delicately as he did right now, repairing the burns on Arlen’s skin, the wounds, the twisted ankle. Slowly the flesh returned to how they were. He could hear the faint breathing stabilize and Ravi let out a shuddering breath.,
It was raining, and the roof which had been dwindled down by the fire could barely withstand the heavy rain. The drops fell on his head, running down his chin but not a single drop touched Arlen.
His fingers trembled as he reached out to brush the blond hair that was stuck to his face. He was afraid to blink even a moment, like an art fanatic greedily watching over a masterpiece. A masterpiece created with such meticulous care, so handsome and exquisite that words were not enough to convey it fully.
It completely captivated a person’s heart.
Ravi was not a fool. He wished he was but he was not. He could tell that something had changed since he met Arlen.
He was just used to suppressing what he truly felt deep in his heart. If he did not say it, if he did not think it then how was it real? If you can even say it then how could it exist?
But now, Ravi seemed to hear the ice in his heart cracking. The subtle feeling that had lingered in his mind vanished like fog leaving his thoughts bare.
But the incident right now, made Ravi feel afraid. It made him feel like time was not always on his side. A pity. A pity if he never says it once. Just once. And then he can bury it in his heart once more.
Just once and he can squash it down, like it never existed.
When? When had he started to have feelings for Arlen?
Ravi was not sure. Maybe it was the first time he had met, Ravi had never felt so annoyed with someone before. Maybe it was the second time. Maybe it was the way he fervently chased after the hypnotist when everyone couldn’t care less, maybe it was how handsome he looked helping him with the corn.
Perhaps it was the way he lit up every room he walked into or the way he listened to him, his entire focus on his words. The way he made him feel at ease, happy, sad, angry. His gentle eyes, his kind voice, his warm smile.
When?
There were so many reasons, and so many moments, and as they accumulated, they became inevitable. Arlen was like a sweet fruit, so sweet, you get addicted with one bite.
"I love you." The words were so quiet, so soft that air carried it on its wings.
It was not enough so he moved closer, his emotions filled his heart and he gazed at Arlen’s lips, the full beautiful lips, he wanted to kiss him. "I love you so much. It is scary." He whispered before pulling away and removing his hands from Arlen’s ears.
Ravi felt as if a heavy stone had been lifted from his shoulders, sinking into his heart. Like a stolen artifact, Ravi captured this moment, carving it into his heart.
The rain continued to fall heavily, and Ravi felt like his tears were mixing with the rain. It was just...that he was not crying so why did he feel like he was in tears? The rain silently seeped through his body.
"Ravi! Captain!" Lisa rushed in, she was followed by three firefighters, she rushed to Ravi and pulled him into a hug.
"Oh! Thank God you are alright! The Captain!" She pulled away from the hug to check up on the Captain. Placing her fingers on his neck, Ravi could see her release a breath of relief.
The firefighters moved to the woman who was lying on the ground. Ravi glanced at her and his fingers moved, repairing her internal organs somewhat. Arlen had so recklessly tried to save her after all.
"She looks like she will make it." One of the firefighters said before moving her on the stretcher and carrying her out.
"She better make me." Lisa said before coming back to hug Ravi, "Thank Heavens, you are okay. Oh! Thank heavens"
Ravi did not pull away from her hug. He needed it. He needed this hug, "The Captain is okay."
"That is great. But we still take you to the hospital, how could you do something so foolish? That was a fire? You could have died. If you died, what would you want me to do?"
She was crying, her tears stained his shirt, mixing with the rain and seeping into his heart.
Her tears smelled like the sea, resembling the feelings in his heart.
It was bitter and sweet.
