Chapter 693: Chapter 689 Never Trust _1
Having given these instructions, Tang Ye prepared to leave. As he took his first step, he stopped as if recalling something. With Ah Fu and Liang Hanyang at his side, he turned once more towards the Hive and warned again, "Hive, I am telling you, do not trust humans, do not communicate with them!"
"Eh? Why?" The Hive asked in confusion.
"Once they know you exist, you’re dead! No matter what, never chat with them!"
"Oh."
The Hive sent a message meaning "understood". Tang Ye felt relieved upon hearing it but still felt a tinge of worry. He cocked his head and asked again, "Do you know what humans are?"
"..."
The Hive didn’t expect Tang Ye to suddenly ask this question. It was at a loss as to how to respond.
What are humans? Even though Tang Ye had asked this question, the Hive didn’t dwell on it. It didn’t know or comprehend how humans might pose a threat, having no clear experience or understanding of such dangers.
Tang Ye squinted his eyes, displeased. He had a feeling his previous words had been wasted—like playing a lute to a cow!
"I ask you, what do you do when you encounter a human?"
"Ignore... ignore them?"
"Correct!"
"Ok, what will happen if I chat with them?"
"You will die! They will deceive you, then kill you! You will die right here!"
"Why... why?"
Tang Ye felt the Hive tremble, its confusion palpable. "Because you are a zombie! Humans’ mortal enemies! To humans, your capabilities are a nightmare. Once they discover you, they will stop at nothing to kill you, to prevent you from creating more zombies."
The Hive on the other end fell silent for a moment, seemingly contemplating something. Tang Ye did not rush it, preferring to wait silently.
After what felt like ages, the Hive finally transmitted a message filled with its feelings. Its emotions were a mix of everything—difficult to describe in clear terms.
"They... how do I stop that? I don’t know how to deal with humans."
"You’re asking how to distinguish humans?"
"Yes."
"All you need is to create more of our own kind. Humans look like me." Tang Ye displayed his form for clarity. The Hive responded with a message indicating its understanding.
Then Tang Ye continued, "If our kind is around you, you won’t need to distinguish humans. Other zombies will know who’s human."
"I see."
"Zombies will attack humans when they see one, and if they don’t attack something, it means it’s one of us. Remember, you absolutely cannot talk to humans, ignore them! Not even once!" Tang Ye insisted sternly.
"Alright, I understand... thank you."
"Good, I’m leaving now. Stay here and be good."
"You’re leaving? Where are you going?" The Hive was puzzled. It couldn’t understand why Tang Ye wanted to leave. Wasn’t it better to stay here?
"I have things to do, you don’t need to know where. Goodbye." Tang Ye waved at the Hive. Puzzled once more, the Hive extended a large tentacle in imitation of Tang Ye’s gesture, waving back at him.
"Good... good... goodbye... "
Smiling, Tang Ye led Ah Fu and Liang Hanyang away from the verdant forest.
...
A few days later in the Qinshan Base Integrated Management District, within the yard of the Qinshan Government’s administrative building.
Groups of soldiers dressed in black uniforms patrolled with sharp eyes, watching their surroundings as if guarding against potential intruders. This was Li Songhua’s stronghold. Recently, many survivors within the Qinshan Base evolved into New Humans.
With newfound power, recalling Li Songhua’s various acts gave rise to hatred. Their twisted minds now harbored revengeful thoughts. As the apocalypse continued, more and more survivors evolved into the revered and feared New Humans.
How many felt joy? And how many were green with envy?
With remarkable strength came a significant rise in status. The world had changed; it was no longer civilized but filled with violence and brutality. Whoever had the strongest fist reigned supreme!
Upon their sudden transformation into superhumans, the first thing these survivors did was seek revenge! Bodies piled up daily in Zone B’s sewer. Every day, passersby saw fresh or decaying corpses of survivors.
Those bodies might have belonged to someone’s nemesis. Once their enemies evolved into new humans, they were immediately subject to their furious retaliation!
The scent of death permeated every corner of the Qinshan Base. No matter where you went, you would find alleys filled with garbage, possibly containing someone’s organ or chunk of flesh.
Muddy blood and filth mixed together, flowing through the gutters along the street. Nobody cleaned up. Over time, besides the color grey, all you could see was brightly colored trash, emitting a nauseating stench.
In the midst of chaos without administration, the revengeful new human survivors, who evolved suddenly, began targeting the primary culprit causing their desolation—Li Songhua, the current ruler of Qinshan Base!
Consequently, every few days, attempts were made to sneak into the government building to assassinate Li Songhua, which led to soldiers’ casualties. Even some of the survivor forces within the base became targets of these assassination attempts, including the Peace Party.
Among them, some may have been acting out of vengeance, relishing the satisfaction that comes with revenge. However, others aimed to kill the leader and steal their position!
The survivors harbored resentment towards those who oppressed them. When these oppressors were killed, rather than feeling a sense of guilt, the survivors experienced a thrill. They believed their actions were justified.
Of course, some leaders of the survivor forces were brutally murdered, and their factions immediately crumbled. Amidst the chaos, new factions were born. Waving the banner of justice, they became even more brutal people.
After surviving several assassination attempts, Li Songhua was on edge. Having a fear of death, he would never be careless about his own life. From a certain point on, squadrons of soldiers were seen patrolling around the government building 24 hours a day.
"Turn left! March!"
Just then, a squad of soldiers, under the command of their leader and marching in disarray, turned onto a green plastic path.
