Chapter 692: Chapter 688: It’s Me Who Found Him_1

The Silver-Armored Zombie was a mutation from the normal zombie species, and it possessed unique characteristics that set it apart from other zombies. It could infect creatures into a Silver-Armored Zombie, regardless of whether they were evolved beings or not, as long they were injured by it!

Tang Ye had firsthand experience with this during his journey to Yunchuan City. His copy had wounded many people on the way, all of whom, whether they were New Humans or ordinary people, ended up turning into Silver-Armored Zombies.

Therefore, Tang Ye had deliberately remembered the evolved leopard and other evolved beasts who had been scratched by Silver-Armored Zombies.

It was not until the disastrous battle with the zombie beasts ended, and the evolved beasts emerged victorious, that Tang Ye noticed something odd. Those evolved beasts he had noted earlier that were injured by Silver-Armored Zombies did not appear to be mutating into Silver-Armored Zombies. Instead, their wounds showed signs of healing.

"The Silver-Armored Zombies created by the mother hive are flawed," Tang Ye thought to himself.

Just then, a small wild cat walked beneath the mother hive, raising its head in silent curiosity at something above and issuing a series of low growls.

Meow~ Meow...

Upon seeing this, a subtle shift occurred in Tang Ye’s expression. He was standing on top of the mother hive, and the cat had just entered his blind spot. He wasn’t entirely sure what the cat was up to.

Without hesitation, he floated from the hive and descended. Liang Hanyang and Ah Fu exchanged glances before jumping down after him.

After Tang Ye landed, the evolved beasts became visibly agitated. They backed away, glaring at him with a show of wariness in their eyes, large and small.

They sensed an overwhelming aura of danger emanating from Tang Ye, an aura they could not combat. They had no choice but to be wary of Tang Ye, fearing he might suddenly unleash a killing spree.

Interestingly, when Tang Ye descended, all the present creatures, whether Level 5 Evolved Beasts or ordinary wild beasts, were terrified and retreated. Only the wild cat remained unmoving, raising its little head to look straight ahead, occasionally opening its mouth to let out a meow – sometimes soft and others ear-piercing.

To Tang Ye, it sounded like the wildcat was having a conversation with something.

Approaching, Tang Ye stopped half a meter behind the cat. Yet, even with him so close, the cat did not react- as if it couldn’t see or sense him, continuing to stare intently at some flesh part on the mother hive.

Tang Ye’s heart skipped a beat.

"It’s strange. All these big evolved beasts behind me are terrified, but this one acts as if it can’t see or feel me," Tang Ye wondered. Nevertheless, he moved even closer and then raised his head curiously to see what had captivated the cat’s attention.

However, when Tang Ye looked up, he didn’t notice anything unusual.

"Huh?"

Tang Ye glanced at the wildcat again just as it opened its mouth to let out a long meow. It sounded even more distinctly like communication.

Meow~...

Listening to this call, Tang Ye realized the wildcat truly was communicating- and what it was communicating with was real!

Tang Ye immediately thought of the mother hive, he quickly sent out a message with his psychic string.

"What are you doing?"

"...I’m chatting with him..."

"Him? Who is he?"

"He...is very small, right beside you."

Tang Ye looked at the wildcat in astonishment, and asked, "You’re communicating with it, how could it communicate with you?"

"I found...him."

Meow~

The wild cat let out another sound. Tang Ye then asked, "What’s it saying?"

The mother hive hesitated a bit before replying, "I’m not sure... I don’t quite understand its meaning. It seems to be asking for...water?"

Before Tang Ye could respond, he heard the mother hive respond, "So boring~"

Then Tang Ye saw the wildcat shaking its head and looking around oddly, meowing and wandering as if it were puzzled, perhaps looking for something.

Suddenly, a roar erupted from amongst the beasts, filled with intense fear.

Tang Ye glanced back and saw an Evolved Dog with two horns on its neck, ramming recklessly among the animal horde. The creature’s face was filled with panic as if it had seen a ghost. Though its appearance indicated that it was an evolution of a canine species, the sound it was making was not a "woof" but a bizarre roar, which was quite strange.

"You initiated communication with them?" Tang Ye guessed, realizing it wasn’t the wild cat that had found the mother hive first to chat, but the mother hive had deliberately approached the others and started chatting. However, the mother hive’s vocabulary was limited and evolved beasts were generally not very intelligent. So, their conversation was probably nonsensical chatter.

Tang Ye, Ah Fu, and Liang Hanyang watched as the evolved beast wildly jumped around, sometimes roaring and other times quietening down. After some time passed, the mother hive seemed to have found the Evolved Dog boring and moved on to another evolved beast, initiating communication and causing chaos once again.

He noticed the veins popping dangerously on their foreheads, and Tang Ye could tell that the mother hive was excited while communicating with the evolved beasts. It seemed as though the mother hive truly enjoyed communicating with other entities.

This was a significant concern. The mother hive is completely guileless. Regardless of the question, it won’t hide anything, just as harmless as a big-bodied zombie.

If it were to encounter a cunning survivor who realizes that the mother hive is not like other brutal zombies, then the only thing waiting for it would be deceit!

"Enough!"

Tang Ye pulled back the mother hive’s consciousness to communicate with him.

"What’s wrong?"

One evolved beast shook its head oddly, glanced curiously at the edge of the mother hive’s huge body, and quickly walked into the dense forest, disappearing from view. As though it realized Tang Ye was still there after satisfying its curiosity from the male beasts, it noticed Tang Ye’s dissatisfied questioning and responded somewhat guiltily.

"Stop messing around. From now on, just stay here. Don’t wander around. I’ll come see you when I have time."

"I won’t leave... Anyway~ thanks for finding me such a comfortable place."

"Hmm. You’re welcome. But I need to tell you, don’t dare leave here arbitrarily without my permission. Understand?"

"Understood."

With some reluctance, Tang Ye looked at the body of the mother hive. He felt as though he had just missed out on an opportunity of $5 million. The mother hive’s relationship with him wasn’t like that with Ah Fu. He couldn’t control the mother hive as firmly as he could control Ah Fu.

Like other zombies, it could be controlled when encountered, but characteristically once it leaves Tang Ye it can’t be commanded from afar; unlike the Silver-Armored Zombies Tang Ye had infected or Ah Fu, who could be summoned from anywhere at any time.

He wished to assimilate the mother hive into a Silver-Armored Zombie, but the mother hive’s body was too enormous! Even if he could assimilate it manually, he wasn’t sure when it would be fully assimilated, letting mother hive not leave without his instructions was the only option.
