Chapter 690: Chapter 686 New Home_1
Although the Mother Nest continued to express its discomfort, it was no longer confused or twisted with an insane fervor, as if it was about to choose who to devour next.
"Feeling better?" Tang Ye asked coldly, his body returning to its normal human size. He was rather annoyed at the Mother Nest’s previous frenzy and was definitely not going to be soft on it.
"I... do not know. I smell... a rich aroma. Is it...? Is it... a fragrance? It smells so good! I...I love it so much..."
Tang Ye was taken aback for a moment and scanned the surroundings, his nose twitching, but he didn’t detect the delicious smell that the Mother Nest was referring to.
"Boss, is there something wrong with my nose?" Ah Fu, standing behind him, scanned the environment and asked with confusion.
"No, the food the Mother Nest needs is different from ours."
The plants in the surrounding mountains and forests were thriving wildly, covering the entire area in green, and all he could see was an abundance of life around him. It suddenly reminded Tang Ye of what he had seen back in Liang City.
The plants were dead and devoid of life, with only zombies wandering around the whole city. When Tang Ye and Chen Chaoyang first came to Liang City, there weren’t this many zombies. Now, Liang City had decayed into total despair, a city without any hope. Anyone could lose all will to live just by witnessing the situation there.
Meanwhile, the Mother Nest had completely departed from Liang City and entered the forest area, distancing itself from that world filled with roaming zombies, to arrive at this green ocean filled with hope and life.
At this moment, Ah Fu took several steps forward to the edge of the Mother Nest’s back, watching with intense gaze at an evolved beast wandering in the forest. It was a beast entirely white with no fur visible, slim but with sturdy hind legs, elongated ears, narrow eyes, and a canine face. Tang Ye guessed it must be a canine creature that had evolved beyond recognition.
Just as he was about to tell Ah Fu something, before he could even open his mouth, Ah Fu howled and then leapt down, plunging to the ground from hundreds of meters in the air.
Boom!
An echoing thud was heard, and Tang Ye saw where Ah Fu had fallen, as the earth shook and dust filled the air. When the dust settled, Ah Fu was standing stably on the ground surrounded by a large circular pit. The prosperous trees around him had been pulverized and exploded into dust. A few had fallen to reveal a green evolution crystal at their root.
Ah Fu on the ground let out a roar. Although the sound was muted from the distance and interference from the dense forest, Tang Ye could still hear the excitement in his roar.
Just after landing, Ah Fu immediately grabbed the evolved beast and started gnawing at it. In half a minute this evolved beast had been mauled beyond recognition, only able to issue soft, weak growls.
"This guy..." Tang Ye looked over at Liang Hanyang, who could only laugh helplessly. However, strangely, the Mother Nest seemed to have no desire for the evolved beast below, and it had already calmed down, not transmitting any information to Tang Ye’s mind, remaining very quiet.
A while later, Ah Fu was satiated from his meal, and stood up. Tang Ye noticed a long-abandoned tarmac road shrouded within the vibrant growth of the forest, covered with the bodies of evolved beasts.
At this moment, when Ah Fu had returned after satisfying his hunger and thirst, a tremor went through the colossal body of the Mother Nest. Turning his head, Tang Ye saw the sixteen legs of the Mother Nest starting to bend.
"It wants to stop here!"
Tang Ye looked back; Liang City wasn’t far, but not near either. But, everything about it was plainly visible from here. He imagined that someone there would also be able to see the lush mountains here.
The vast body of the Mother Nest was impossible to overlook. If it dared to stop here, even a casual glance in this direction during the day would reveal its massive form, looming ominously.
"What are you doing?" Tang Ye asked.
"I... I can’t go further."
The Mother Nest defensively sent out this piece of information. It wasn’t refusing Tang Ye, but simply didn’t want to continue moving forward.
"Don’t stop here. You’ll be easily noticed if you stay here, and once discovered, they’ll kill you!"
"Huh?"
The Mother Nest’s consciousness was mixed with confusion for a while, dumbly sending out this response. It didn’t move immediately. It was hesitating, unsure whether to trust Tang Ye. However, its body continued to slowly sink into the ground, apparently, Tang Ye’s words didn’t seem threatening to it at all.
"Get up!"
Tang Ye shouted angrily, and the body of the Mother Nest jolted, raising itself on its massive, landmass-like limbs.
At this moment, Tang Ye could already control the movements of the Mother Nest.
Seeing Tang Ye’s command, the Mother Nest seemed to understand it could no longer resist and raised its spirits to continue moving forward according to Tang Ye’s thoughts.
The ground and the forest trembled as its enormous and sturdy limbs stepped onto the ground one after another. The echoes reverberated through the forest as a variety of evolved beasts and flocks of birds scattered in all directions, fleeing in panic from the Mother Nest’s imposing presence.
The Mother Nest continued moving over several mountains, its body slowly disappearing among them. It had reached deep within the evolution forest. Tang Ye looked back and saw that the buildings of Liang City were no longer visible. They were now in a place devoid of any human activity.
"That’s enough." Tang Ye exhaled deeply, indicating that the Mother Nest could stop. The Mother Nest happily contracted its sixteen limbs one after another with a few ’Bang’ sounds, diving into the ground, and pulling itself in.
Tang Ye and the zombie squad standing on the Mother Nest’s back were almost thrown off their feet. The Mother Nest hadn’t fully sunk into the ground before it retracted its limbs, dropping almost all of its body onto the forest below, crushing trees underneath.
Different from how it looked previously in Liang City, the Mother Nest now towered above at many more times its previous size. It was visible above the ground, and its appearance resembled a gigantic spinning top.
Seeing it settle here, several huge evolved beasts were awoken, abandoning their territories, and retreated hundreds of meters nervously. Their eyes were filled with fear and curiosity.
However, seeing that it was just resting and didn’t pose any immediate threat, these evolved beasts cautiously approached again. Some bolder zombies even loitered in front of the Mother Nest, which didn’t seem to mind.
There was even an evolved cat, with fur like steel needles, that jumped onto the Mother Nest and still, the Mother Nest didn’t react.
