I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 1676 - 1670: Great Fate
Chapter 1676: Chapter 1670: Great Fate
When the woman left, he didn’t even see her movements. His vision blurred, and all he saw was the air twisted so much that it was visible to the naked eye, and the sonic boom echoing in his ears.
Yong’s face was expressionless. Before long, he lowered his head, took a deep breath, and slowly separated the intense vinegar smell lingering to capture the scent left by the woman’s disappearance in the air. Regrettably, she wasn’t the Zombie King he thought; she was a... fellow? But not a fellow... She seemed like one of them. Was she searching for something?
This city seems to share the same complexity as the people in his eyes, with many entities lurking here, also on their way here...
Time passed quickly, and after Ghost Head opened his eyes, it was already dusk. Groggily sitting up from the ground, the cold wind blowing from outside immediately woke him up. He looked outside; Yong was standing by the railing, staring into the distance, seemingly lost in thought.
Standing up from the ground, his wounds have healed somewhat, but walking was still a limp. He came beside Yong and asked, "Did anything happen?"
"No," Yong shook his head and did not look at Ghost Head. He kept looking into the distance, towards where he was staring. Far, far away, there were small points of light, as distant as stars in the sky, while this Sanctuary City could no longer see its bustling night scene, below were shadows moving from time to time representing zombies. Odd sounds occasionally sent chills to one’s heart; this Dangerous Sanctuary City has become a city in the wasteland!
Yet this fallen city was not quiet. From afar, there were occasional laser weapon shootings, even pillars of light rising into the sky and quickly disappearing. Occasionally, the screams of soldiers could be heard remotely, reminiscent of a desperate expression of a soldier trapped with no escape somewhere by zombies.
During the time he was asleep, this city doesn’t even know how many people died, a familiar feeling, as if it was the first night after the apocalypse came.
"That’s good... That’s good..."
"You seem unhappy; can you talk about it?"
"It’s hard to say..." Ghost Head shook his head; he continued, "Confused, don’t know if you can understand, can’t control one’s future fate, worried... but cannot articulate, don’t know if I can live to leave this place."
Summarizing it, it’s roughly the idiom "powerless," but Yong, who doesn’t seem to comprehend the four characters, Ghost Head could only elaborate more.
Yong tilted his head; looking at him like that, he seemed deep in thought indeed. No need to think really, but Ghost Head didn’t want to disturb him, watching outside together. At this time, he saw someone walk across on top of a building about thirty to forty meters ahead.
"Huh?" Ghost Head immediately grew alert!
"I saw someone there!"
"See them..."
"Keep an eye on them." Ghost Head turned and went into the living room to retrieve his weapon, looked back in that direction, the "Tianguang" muzzle already aimed, ready to shoot and kill if the person showed themselves!
Not sure if the person over there discovered him, after hiding behind the water tank on the rooftop, they did not come out, and Ghost Head didn’t dare to relax, keeping a close watch. Yong, seeing his actions, also raised his weapon.
Not long after, Ghost Head saw the person slowly walk out, seemingly unaware of them, merely lying on the edge of the building to observe the situation below.
"Wait a moment!"
Ghost Head motioned Yong to lower the weapon; the other party was alone and didn’t appear to be a soldier, appearing sickly, even walking seemed exhausting. Most importantly, he didn’t feel the thick blood aura of the new humans from this man.
This is a normal person, posing no threat to them!
Due to the lack of lighting, the outside was shrouded in darkness, and the starlight from the sky was minimal. He couldn’t discern if the person was male or female; however, after confirming there was no threat, Ghost Head extended his hand and waved to catch their attention.
"Hey... there... hey? Look..."
With Ghost Head’s efforts, the person over there finally noticed the faint sound seemingly calling them. Turning their head, they scanned around, quickly spotting Ghost Head across the way. But seeing him and Yong, the person did not respond. With an unsettling quickness, they straightened and crawled back behind the water tank.
"No..."
Ghost Head felt quite speechless; he wanted to express his lack of malicious intent. But you can’t blame the person; after all, trusting others too much in the apocalypse could lead to an early death. He wished to convey his thoughts but, looking at the shadows wandering the street below, Ghost Head could only give up.
Just then, coughing sounds came from behind; turning back, Wu Zhixiong was awake. Ghost Head immediately walked over; just awakened, Wu Zhixiong sniffed, soon furrowing his brows, the strong vinegar smell made him quite uncomfortable.
Seeing Ghost Head’s face, his eyebrows relaxed.
"Where... are we now?"
"Still in Sanctuary City, it has been occupied by a zombie horde."
"Ah? This... is so." On seeing the surroundings clearly, Wu Zhixiong fell silent; just waking, he needed to take it all in.
"Here, have something to eat."
Ghost Head picked up a pack of chicken jerky from nearby and took a few pieces, passing them to him.
"Oh, okay." Accepting the jerky, Wu Zhixiong didn’t devour it, instead eating small bites, bit by bit. He had no appetite now; just waking, he even felt a sense of nausea.
Before long, Brother Shi also awoke. Seeing Ghost Head, he extended his hand at once.
"What’s up?"
"Water... I need water..." His lips were cracked, his voice a bit hoarse. Ghost Head responded quickly, searching around before heading downstairs, eventually bringing back a cup of tap water, and Brother Shi drank it immediately without any complaint.
Drinking the water made him feel a lot better.
"Did I pass out?"
"Hmm?"
"How long?"
"Uh..." Ghost Head scanned about; there was nothing here to determine the current time, and he had just recently awakened, unsure what hour it was. Wu Zhixiong took out his phone, but it was damaged in battle and couldn’t be turned on.
"Forget it, I didn’t expect to still be alive, lucky indeed." Brother Shi curiously examined his hand, not minding the strong vinegar odor on him. He remembered thinking in the last second before fainting, just like this, fainting was good, dying wouldn’t feel pain.
