I am the Zombie King of the Apocalyptic World -
Chapter 1677 - 1671 Shock
Chapter 1677: Chapter 1671 Shock
Brother Shi stretched his limbs and took a deep breath, feeling the vitality in his body. Despite inhaling that sour vinegar smell, he seemed to have a profound understanding of ’life is precious.’ In such a dangerous environment, it was a miracle he was still alive after being unconscious.
Just as Brother Shi was about to sit down, Yu Guang suddenly caught sight of someone else.
"Who is that?"
He pointed at Yong with a face full of confusion, and when the other person turned around, showing his face, he was dumbfounded, unsure if he was scared or what.
"Yong... Yong?"
Ghost Head saw Brother Shi’s legs tremble for a moment, showing the same expression as when they first met Yong.
"Hahaha, surprised, right? I’m telling you, if he hadn’t arrived in time, we’d be dead!"
"How did he appear... Ah? Is... is that so? He didn’t... that...?"
Brother Shi wanted to make a throat-slitting gesture to Ghost Head, but with Yong watching, he quickly lowered his raised hand.
"Hahaha, no worries, huh." Ghost Head naturally understood Brother Shi’s meaning and awkwardly smiled at Yong, who smiled back without understanding.
"Come over here."
Pulling Brother Shi to the side, Ghost Head explained how he met Yong and what happened afterward, assuring him that even while unconscious, Yong hadn’t harmed him, finally putting Brother Shi at ease.
"Alright, having him with us is safe, but we can’t completely trust..." He glanced at Yong, who was looking their way, and Brother Shi immediately fell silent.
"Don’t worry," Ghost Head patted Brother Shi’s shoulder.
At this moment, Wu Zhixiong, who had been watching them whisper, curiously asked, "What are you talking about? Do you know him?"
"Yeah, we know... he’s been a deserter with us. His name is Yong, that’s right, his name is just one character."
Upon hearing Wu Zhixiong’s doubts, Brother Shi quickly introduced Yong to him.
"Yong? What kind of name is that?"
"I don’t know, probably something someone else randomly gave him..."
"Is... is that so?" Wu Zhixiong looked at Yong, who didn’t really understand the situation but nodded when asked.
"Then why wasn’t he with you before?"
"He was taken away by Yan Jiang."
"Yan Jiang, why?"
"Hey, don’t try to mess with Yong. His shooting skills are insanely good. I’m telling you, we just got out of the City Center..."
...
"What? Killed a Level 7 zombie? Are you kidding me?"
"We’re all in this together; no one’s free to trick you."
"Yeah, we met those five people just yesterday. If it weren’t for him, the three of us would have been gone!"
"Alright then... I believe you."
After hearing Brother Shi and the others’ account, even though he said he believed them, it was hard for him to accept that this guy named Yong had killed a Level 7 zombie and saved Ghost Head from the jaws of a Level 6 zombie. This isn’t just about shooting skills; to have such precision, he must be able to keep up with the movement speed of those high-level zombies, right?
However, seeing the two seem to have much trust in Yong, he felt somewhat relieved yet still maintained a degree of vigilance in his heart.
He glanced at Yong, who awkwardly scratched his head and smiled.
"It’s really strange..." Wu Zhixiong mused internally, unsure if it was just his imagination, but Yong gave him an uncanny feeling.
"Alright, alright, there’s some food here; let’s share it."
After exchanging words, Ghost Head distributed all the food he had found in the building. This time, Yong didn’t refuse and took his share.
Yong devoured his portion, unlike Ghost Head and the other two, who ate slowly, as no one knew if this might be their last meal.
The wind blowing tonight carried a hint of winter, somewhat biting. They dared not light a fire because in the zombie-infested city night, any light would attract zombies like moths to a flame!
They were quiet, yet the first night after the city had fallen to the zombie tide was destined not to be. Soon, an earth-shattering zombie howl erupted from an unknown distance!
The roar seemed to unleash all the pent-up fury of Sanctuary City, which had remained dormant for ages, in one explosive second!
The three were startled, Yong appeared calm as he looked towards the source of the sound. The streets, accustomed to silence, were now filled with the roars of disturbed zombies, turning Sanctuary City chaotic once more!
Amidst the pervasive zombie screams, some soldiers who had survived hidden away attempted to act during the confusion. Unfortunately, some unlucky ones were discovered by zombies. As they fought back, beams of laser emerged from various directions, briefly dispelling some of Sanctuary City’s darkness.
Rumble!
At that moment, the ground trembled, and Ghost Head, who just stood up, was shaken back to the ground!
"What’s happening?"
"It could be a battle between high-level zombies and high-level new humans over there!"
During the tremors, the building shook a few times, the three tensing up, ready to jump to another building if it collapsed.
Fortunately, the building wasn’t too tall and withstood the tremors. Somewhere over there, the opposing high-level forces must have briefly clashed before stopping.
They inspected the building briefly; several cracks appeared on the walls, as it was a structure from before the Apocalypse, aged and worn after ten years. During the tremors, a water pipe burst on the third floor, and the accumulated water quickly flowed through the cracks in the wall. Occasionally, a zombie passing by was doused completely. The sound of water hitting the ground attracted more zombies in that direction, but soon afterward, some windows shattered. Several tables were hurled down because previous residents had converted the office building rooms into living spaces, using tables pushed together as beds due to the lack of beds. These makeshift beds with blankets and linens were tossed down onto the zombies’ heads. The scene was comical, but the three couldn’t bring themselves to laugh.
This upheaval was quick to come and go, and those soldiers preparing to escape amidst the chaos hadn’t expected everything to settle so soon. Once the agitated zombies calmed, the four of them above saw a massive "bulldozer" emerging from the other end of the street, struggling forward against a swarm of zombies!
