Chapter 92: He threathend Jocelyn.
"Thank you," she appreciated the guard who helped her open the door of the car.
"Let me," the guard requested and Arissa could not help but question him with her brows, "We would walk you in and down to your ward also, the boss just sent us a mail that your arm is injured and we should help you with any lifting," he explained.
Arissa bit her inner lip before nodding. She would have assumed this was his way of knowing her sister’s whereabouts but from their previous conversation concerning Adele’s case, he let it known to her that he has eyes on her everywhere and knows about Adele down to her fake identity.
She looked around knowing that there were more eyes on her. Shadow guards seemed to be lurking around her even with these two.
Nicklaus was killing her slowly and he doesn’t seem to understand it.
Passing the grocery bags she came with over to them, they left the garage and walked into the hospital.
"Don’t walk directly behind me," she ordered sternly.
Reluctantly, they both stayed five feet away from her but still, Arissa felt crowded. Knowing their loyalty wa Wes only to their ’boss’ she just did her best in ignoring them while she fastened her steps.
Getting to the door of Adele’s hospital ward, she had a little conversation with the nurse stationed at the door, and acknowledging the nurses repeats no mistakes, she took her bags from the guards and went into the wardroom alone.
Arissa walked into the ward and was surprised caught her with how lost Jocelyn appeared as her friend spaced out, thinking about something, and was so focused on the ground that she did not even notice her presence.
"Jocelyn," Arissa could not help but call, and at that moment, Jocelyn snapped off her thoughts.
"Oh God," Jocelyn breathed as she stood up from the couch and walked towards Arissa before Arissa would ask what happened to her, Jocelyn pulled Arissa into a hug.
The hug was so tight and sudden that Arissa felt suffocated and without hesitation, she parted the hug and pulled herself away.
She felt Jocelyn’s emotions exceeding from the hug - fear...but why was she scared?
Being pulled away from the hug, Jocelyn held both sides of Arissa’s shoulders and scanned her friend’s whole body with all concentration as she wanted to be sure Arissa was really in one piece.
"What is it, Lyn?" Arissa asked as Jocelyn gave her an all-through scanning but rather than replying to Arissa’s question, Jocelyn dragged Arissa into another hug, and this time around, Arissa couldn’t help but panic.
’What’s with the sudden scanning, huggings, and emotions? ’ Arissa thought as she turned uneasy.
"What happened Jocelyn?"
"I thought," and finally, Jocelyn parted the hug.
She paused and looked into Arissa’s eyes.
"I thought something bad happened to you," Jocelyn explained the reason for her sudden outburst.
Hearing that, Arissa blinked in shock, "Why, why do you think so?" she asked, staring intensely into Jocelyn’s eyes.
Jocelyn went silent and her face turned pale like she lost all of her blood in just a second.
Arissa’s heart tripled seeing how blanched her best friend’s face was, "Lyn?"
"Let’s seat first," Lyn suggested, running her hand through her inky black hair.
Arissa nodded. Dropping the groceries on the table they were meant to be at, Arissa walked back to Jocelyn and held her hand towards the couch.
For Jocelyn to be acting this way, something doesn’t seem right and immediately, she moved her eyes over to Adele but as usual, everything was normal with her sister.
"Mr. Adams_"
"Mr. Adams?" Arissa questioned to be sure she heard well and when Jocelyn nodded, panic swelled in her heart. Did he threaten Jocelyn?
"He called me this morning," Arissa’s eyes widened with the story progress, "I swear, I don’t know how he got my number, all of a sudden, I received a phone call from a random number. Answering it, he was the one," Jocelyn explained in one breath.
Arissa swallowed, "So, what did he say?"
"He said you were hurt and without giving me the chance to ask him how he hung up on me," the tears she had been holding up finally left her eyes.
"Lyn?" Arissa whispered with a broken sound and they hugged again. This time, it was Arissa who drew her into her arm.
"I’m not hurt," she confirmed as she stroked Jocelyn’s back affectionately.
Jocelyn sniffed and her tears dropped on Arissa’s shoulder, "I tried... I tried calling you but you never replied and your phone was suddenly switched off after my fifth call....," she trailed off.
"I could not help it. I could not help. I thought your parents had you," Jocelyn added and Arissa could not help but smile.
At times, she makes reckless decisions and ends up forgetting that she has people like Jocelyn in her life. She had thought that if she died, no one would visit her grave or even, cry for her but here was her best friend - Jocelyn.
Her friend was already crying without confirming if she was hurt or not.
"I’m sorry," Arissa whispered and drew Jocelyn closer into her arms and Jocelyn wept more.
"You scared me," Jocelyn spoke up after a while, "You did not reply to my calls, and at that moment, only the worst things that might have happened crossed my mind,"
Arissa’s smile widened but this time, it was sad. Parting the hug, she cupped Jocelyn’s face into her palms.
"My parents can’t hurt me,"
Jocelyn released a relieved breath at Arissa’s boast.
"But I did get hurt yesterday," Arissa revealed and Jocelyn’s expression turned panicked, "It wasn’t anything to worry about," she continued and slowly, she revealed everything to Jocelyn, down to the part where Mr. Adams have been offering her a few help.
"Arissa," Jocelyn pronounced Arissa’s name in a wordless whisper, "You need to listen times and stop being such an ass. What if something more than the arrow happened? What would have happened to Adele? I guess she would only wake up to receive more torture from her parents and after that, what’s next - they continue leaving their lives as if they did nothing bad. Don’t you ever think?" Jocelyn went on, hitting Arissa from all angles. Knowing she loves Adele a bit too much - even more than herself, Jocelyn made sure to outline the potential dangers that could happen to Adele if she make reckless moves like this again.
