Chapter 56: Darn Idiot.

Mrs Wyatt smiled happily and immediately, she stroked Arissa back with love.

Arissa bites on her lower lips to stop the tears but sadly, one slid down her cheek fastly, she cleaned it off and in the process, gave out a chuckle.

Mrs. Wyatt parted the hug first and cupped Arissa’s face tenderly, "You are already a daughter to me," she expressed putting Arissa at rest both mentally and emotionally but physically, she was still tensed.

Arissa smiled and Mrs Wyatt blushed at how cute Arissa was with the smile. She has the most beautiful and perfect daughter-in-law.

"Your hair," she pointed out before taking her hands off Arissa’s face. Her fingers went into Arissa’s hair combing through it and to the side, she drew it out to Arissa’s view.

"They grew longer," she continued and Arissa could only smile at Mrs Wyatt’s humor.

Mrs. Wyatt’s head snapped to the soup she brought in. "I thought your fever was so high," she sigh, "Now the soup would go to waste,"

Arissa’s eyes scanned the tray and with interest, she decided, "I would like to have it,"

Mrs. Wyatt’s eyes sparkled immediately.

Her daughter-in-law wants her food. Oh yes! This is a step toward a great bonding with her and without further delay, Mrs Wyatt walked over to the table.

Arissa followed behind her, enjoying how motherly Mrs. Wyatt was.

"Seat," Mrs. Wyatt ordered seating on the couch and tapping beside her for Arissa to seat on. Arissa sat down and watched Mrs Wyatt’s energetic actions while she scooped some of the soup into a smaller bowl for Arissa without thinking, she proceeded to feed Arissa and only when she saw Arissa staring at her with surprise did she realize what she was doing.

Arissa stared at Mrs Wyatt’s hand holding the spoon to her mouth in surprise. Ever since she was a child, only Mr. Adams did this for her and he also stopped when she turned eight, and then surprisingly, Collins repeated the action today but... but Mrs Wyatt?

This was the first time someone in a motherly figure is doing this for her. Her mother never cared.

And before Mrs. Wyatt would drop the spoon with an apology for overcrossing, Arissa opened her mouth, and this surprised Mrs. Wyatt.

Mrs. Wyatt with all pleasure picked up the spoon and redid her action which Arissa took into her mouth. There was a bit of hesitation, but still, she took the meal fed to her from Mrs. Wyatt, and Mrs. Wyatt could not help but smile widely at her.

The process continued with a lot of laughter until Arissa was filled. Mrs. Wyatt touched Arissa’s belly as if confirming if a child was filled.

Arissa laughed at the action.

"Can I brush your hair?" Mrs Wyatt suddenly asked and Arissa stopped laughing. She stared into Mrs Wyatt’s eyes as if the woman’s kindness was a bit too much or, was it normal for someone to be this kind?

Mrs Wyatt looked into her eyes and with a stiff neck, Arissa nodded yes.

Mrs Wyatt smiled and tears almost dropped from her eyes with Arissa’s confirmation. This was more than expected.

She blesses Nicklaus for calling her down here.

They walked over to the vanity table. Seating on the seat provided there, Mrs. Wyatt stood beside Arissa and picked up the brush.

And with one soft brush, Arissa let out a sigh of relief. She felt so satisfied with Mrs. Wyatt’s hand on her hair.

Mrs. Wyatt dropped the hairbrush and poured some oil into her palm. And with a soft massage of the oil on Arissa’s hair down to her skull, Mrs. Wyatt picked up the brush again and continued the process.

’Nicklaus is so lucky,’ Arissa thought closing her eyes, and then she parted them again as anxiety washed over her expression.

Speaking of Nicklaus - he was down with a fever and here she was enjoying his mother’s service.

"Nicklaus is unwell Mrs Wyatt," Arissa informed with an apologetic tune.

She was so lost in Mrs. Wyatt’s comfort that she forgot the next person who was down with a fever. She rolled her eyes at her for getting so lost in the moment and immediately, guilt covered her.

That damn idiot! Why can’t he complain about his health?

Mrs. Wyatt gave her hair one last brush, "Let me attend to him," she said, dropping the hairbrush, and with a smile at Arissa, she walked out of the room to her son.

Arissa’s shoulders dropped the moment Mrs. Wyatt closed the door behind her. And with another relief sigh, she dropped onto her bed, relenshining her moments with Mrs. Wyatt seconds ago. There was a smile on Arissa’s face while she stared at the cloudy ceiling of her room.

So this is what it feels like? Spending time with a mother?

She turned to her phone the moment she heard a beep from it.

Picking it up, she glanced at the unknown number, and with a scroll, she answered the call.

"Hello Arissa," and immediately, Arissa took the phone away from her ear with surprise at the voice she just heard.

Taking the phone back to her ear, her dominant voice and stern face came on again, "What is it you want Mr Lincoln?"

She was honestly surprised her father called her after all of the shits he and his wife did to her.

Mr. Lincoln laughed with formality as he no longer cared about the title she addressed him with.

Arissa’s eyes sharpened with hostility hearing her father laugh, "I would hang up in a second if you waste my time," she warned.

Mr. Lincoln stopped laughing as he knew better than to extend his daughter’s patient line. "I would be hosting an auction in four days and I want you to be there," he said passing an order.

Arissa chucked inaudibly. The guts of this man!

He even had the guts to order her around.

"I don’t want to be there. Good luck on your auction," she said sarcastically, and without waiting for her next breath, she dropped the call.
