His Toxic Addiction -
Chapter 55: His deepest darkest.
Chapter 55: His deepest darkest.
Alfred’s butt on the couch offered to him hurt as he was unable to seat patiently waiting.
He came here two hours ago and that insolent bastard has the guts to keep him waiting up to this moment. His eyes went towards the magnificent staircase for the hundredth time as he anticipated Logan’s arrival but still, no one came down not even the gang member who went up to report his arrival.
He gritted his teeth at Logan’s rudeness. Not only did the asshole keep him waiting, but he also wasn’t even offered water or any refreshment and the place was quiet at his arrival unlike before when every member of the gang lines up for his arrival, the place now was silent as if no one cared about his arrival.
His fears covered him.
For a while now, he had feelings of Logan plotting his demise, especially with the request of his "head" the other day, Alfred have to admit that he felt threatened.
"Mr. Lincoln!"
Alfred stilled for a moment as the sudden sound startled him. And with a humiliated angry expression, Alfred turned to the staircase - and there he was.
The insolent bastard he had been waiting for.
Logan strolled down the staircase with luxurious steps and this only angered Alfred. He stood up impatiently and Logan smirked at the standing ovation his twisted mind thought he was receiving.
"To what do I owe this visit?" Logan asked settling his butt on the couch across Alfred.
Alfred glares at him. His fear increased more at the new Logan.
"What had you been doing?" Alfred asked taking his seat since Logan was not as respectful as before to offer him a seat.
Logan smiled and watched Alfred’s action as his butt landed on the couch and with a calm yell, he ordered, "Bring it down," and at his yell, Alfred’s eyes widened with questions and a bit of fear.
Logan turned to Alfred am captures his fear properly. He licked his lower lips before parting his lips to speak, "Don’t worry, it wasn’t your coffin I ordered,"
Alfred’s heart dropped and he wondered why he was taking Logan’s petty joke word to heart.
Taking Logan’s word as a joke just like the first one about his "head", he let out a light chuckle as he used it to ease himself.
Logan tilted his head questioning Alfred’s chuckle. "Old age have caught up with this man if he took the word of his coffin as a joke," Logan thought watching Alfred’s expression and lifting his lips, he let out an unimpressed smirk.
"You did not think I was joking right?" Logan asked with all seriousness in his voice and Alfred’s chuckle stopped and he frowned immediately.
Alfred wanted to say something but the arrival of Logan boys with a large portrait stopped him grim talking.
Logan ignored Alfred’s expression as he took the portraits from his boys with sudden glee in his eyes. Waving two fingers at them, they departed his presence.
Turning to Alfred, he turned smiled at the portrait, "What’s your deepest darkest desire?" Logan suddenly asked changing the topic and this made Alfred lift his right brow in confusion.
"Back to what we were_"
"Answer the question Mr. Lincoln," Logan cut him off straightforwardly and he raised his sharp eyes to Mr Lincoln’s eyes.
And it made Alfred’s legs tight. He wants to know what warrants the coffin speech but it seems like Logan is set to play mind games with him again.
Swallowing saliva, "To rule the business world," he answered the tricky question from Logan with all honesty.
Logan stared at him for a while.
A long while and it made Alfred uncomfortable. Why he was suddenly scared of this little raccoon, he doesn’t know but he was sure he fears him. Maybe it was because the boy knows his deepest and darkest.
"Hmm," Logan hummed taking his eyes off Alfred and to the portrait in his hand.
It was just a hum, but it made Alfred’s body hairs stand erect. Once he is done with Logan, he swears on his last blood that he must surely kill him for making him feel this way.
"This," Logan announced turning the portrait over to Alfred’s view and Alfred blinked with uncertainty. "She is my darkest desire," he continued looking at the portrait with the same glee from his previous stare.
Alfred swallowed.
Was this obsession?
He looked at the portrait that had an enlarged picture of Arissa and from her outfit, it was on the day she formalized her marriage with the Wyatt family.
His eyes looked up at Logan’s face but the boy wasn’t looking and only had his eyes fixed on the portrait as if he was in thought.
Alfred cleared his throat awkwardly and this made Logan raise his eyes to him.
"I’m becoming impatient Mr. Alfred Lincoln," Logan disclosed his feelings. "And I was never a patient man,"
Alfred’s eyes twisted as he saw a good opportunity to drop his demand, "Just give me Adele’s hospital details and she would be yours," he assured in a promising voice.
Logan scoffed.
"Do you think I believe that?" Logan questioned him with a dangerous tune. And immediately, the temperature in the room disappeared, and a frown emerged on Alfred’s expression.
"Why don’t you believe me?" Alfred asked curiously as he tried to use his manipulating voice on Logan again as before.
"I thought we are way past that phase of manipulation," Logan said, straight calling out Alfred’s act, and then, he frowned thoughtfully, "I would advise you to be honest with me Alfred. When do I have her and do not propose an offer," he advised in a warning tune.
Alfred stilled. How would Logan grow wings to the point of giving him an order as wide as this?
"The hospital details first," Alfred said with a strong tune of finality.
After a little thought, Logan spoke up. "Fine, I’d give you the hospital details only if I get a privileged entry to your auction," he bargained. He just found out that Alfred is holding an audition but Alfred was a hypocrite of a person who never cared to invite him.
Knowing that place wasn’t for people like him, he had to play his card well if he wants to see his little angel in person.
Alfred paused.
Arissa doesn’t want anything to do with him any longer but surely, he would try out his luck and drag her over to his audition ground.
"Okay," Alfred accepted.
Logan nodded and stood up and with that, he ended their discussion.
