Chapter 291: One Sided Love.

Chapter 291: One Sided Love.

Arissa’s skin almost left her when the voice spoke up before her. She fixed her gaze in the direction of the voice and she froze up without a single clue of what to do or how to take her words back.

Mrs. Wyatt behind her staggered two steps back, her eyes mixed with disbelief, happiness, and accomplishment.

However, the uninvited human at the door had a mysterious aura surrounding him the second Arissa said those words. He had never seen it coming and it blew him off guard.

Arissa held his gaze and was instantly searched thoroughly by his eyes. He was speechless and did not even know the right emotions he felt at the moment.

He could not even blink. That was how strongly Arissa’s shocking confession threw him off balance and he regretted appearing at that moment.

"Dear," Mrs. Wyatt touched Arissa from behind, and the girl jolted from fear. She tore her eyes off Geal’s gaze and returned to reality.

A bitter reality where Nicklaus’s most trusted person has gotten a hint about her feelings. She wanted just Mrs. Wyatt alone to know of it and no one else. She does not even know how to go about this yet.

Geal finally got his tongue, "What type of love are we talking about here?" he asked, his voice laced with heavy sarcasm.

It wasn’t intentional his voice came out that way but he couldn’t help it.

Arissa glared at him concerning how he questioned her. He sounded like she wasn’t worth loving Nicklaus and yes, she got it.

She might not be that perfect ex of Nucklaus but could Geal rethink his tune and question her politely. Won’t she be allowed to breathe because she said something he wasn’t even supposed to hear in the first place?

Arissa let go of the kitchen island and without turning to Mrs. Wyatt, she walked towards the door and left the kitchen with a nervous non-smiling expression.

When she walked past Geal, he was tempted to pull her back and force answers out of her. The last time Nicklaus got bitterly emotional, it was because of her and has always been because of her.

She has always broken his friend’s emotional walls and left him an emotional mess and now, she says she loves him.

What kind of love does she have for him? He wanted to know but because of the respect he had towards Nicklaus and his mother who was also in the kitchen, he stepped away so she could walk out.

After Arissa left, Geal fixed his gaze on Mrs. Wyatt’s own. The woman looked happy and he could tell a tiny part of her wanted her not to be.

Mrs. Wyatt averted her gaze from Geal and followed Arissa back as she rushed upstairs. Geal followed Mrs. Wyatt’s line of sight and released a soft sigh.

"What now?"

Mrs. Wyatt fixed her eyes back on him, "We have nothing to say about this. Nicklaus’s feelings towards her have also changed," she informed Geal.

Geal walked into the kitchen. He took Mrs. Wyatt’s hands in his and placed small loving kisses on them.

Mrs. Wyatt smiled and pulled Geal into a small hug. Geal had been her son ever since he was adopted into one of the higher-up families.

"I dropped by to check on her. Nicklaus told me what happened," he stated his reason for ruining her moment with her daughter.

Mrs. Wyatt nodded, "She is going through a lot emotionally and I felt it when she said she loves Nicklaus." she sniffed, about to cry, "She sounded so genuine and I never thought someone would one day come to accept my son’s ruthless flaws,"

Geal countered, "Nicklaus fell first and she isn’t without flaws,"

Mrs. Wyatt only smiled and held both sides of Geal’s cheeks, "It doesn’t matter who fell first, son. All that matters now is our support and how they will get stronger. They can’t terminate, neither can they get divorced nor continue their marriage but whichever way they decide on, I want us to support them, okay?" she pleaded.

"Okay," Geal grunted.

Mrs. Wyatt took her hands off his face and began to take off her apron, "I have to go and check on her. She must be feeling overwhelmed right now,"

"Aren’t we supposed to give her space and time?" he reasoned.

Mrs. Wyatt shook her head negatively as she hung her apron back on its stand, "I saw fear in her eyes. She’s scared of what the future holds and I get it. Right now, as it is all overwhelming, she needs someone around to help her accept all of these and also, back her up," she explained.

Geal nodded and watched Mrs. Wyatt leave before he slumped tiredly on one of the seats in the living room.

Meanwhile.....

Arissa slammed her door behind her with full force. She rested her back on the door and started afar with wide eyes.

Her heavy heart made things more complicated for her and keeping up with a strong facade became impossible. Slowly, her facade crumbled and her real emotions showed themselves.

She looked broken, dejected, and regretful, and worse, Geal questioned her as if she would amount to nothing before Nicklaus’s ex.

She did not know why the only thing on her mind right now was his ex. However, she believed she should have to remember he once had an ex, a woman who stole the whole of his heart.

Arissa remembered when Nicklaus made mentioned never competing with first love and her heart crumbled to the dust level.

Her insecurity concerning his ex grew stronger and for the first time in forever, she felt envious of someone, Also, she now knew the experience of how one-sided love felt.

She wishes she met Nicklaus earlier and under a more better circumstances and maybe, just maybe, things would have been better between them and for everyone.
