Chapter 271: Side With The Girl.

Geal came over to the company the moment he heard Amber complain about Nicklaus over the phone.

She said his friend was going through a hard time again and might need him. Not wasting a second more, Geal abandoned the woman he was in bed with and rushed over.

He suspected nothing more than another quarrel and it slightly pissed him that Nicklaus’s mood was being controlled by a woman.

Getting to the CEO’s office, he opened the door and barged in without knocking. If he had knocked, he knew he would have to give a long explanation and he had no time for that.

Nicklaus who was now seated on his desk with another bottle of wine before him raised his face to the door with great sadness and when he saw it was Geal, his cold expressionless face wore a frown.

"Did no one teach you how important knocking was?" he questioned before drinking directly from the glass.

Geal flashed Nicklaus a look of disapproval before scanning the office. His eyes fell on the poor phone destroyed in a corner of the office.

"You should not have done this," he lectured, picking the phone from the floor.

Nicklaus put the wine bottle aside, "What do you care? No one cares so why do you have to keep on pretending like you do," he spit out bitterly.

Geal shook his head and moved towards Nicklaus’s desk. Getting there, he tossed the phone back on the desk and before he would take a set before Nicklaus, the phone was thrown across the room again.

Geal turned in the direction of the phone and back to Nicklaus, "Nicklaus! Have you lost it?" he questioned. For the first time, Nicklaus acted out of his usual calm emotions.

Nicklaus stared harshly at Geal, "Leave my office. Not giving a fuck about my well-being is already enough. Don’t come here questioning me as if I am a toddler,"

Geal sat up in his seat, "Believe it or not, I might not care as you think but am always here to listen and give solutions if I can."

Nicklaus fixed a strong glare on Geal. Without his eyes wandering, he took in a full gulp of the alcohol, directly from the wine bottle.

"The last time we met," Geal went on, "you spoke about Arissa with so much trust and it hurt you did not trust me a bit after all these years spent together,"

Nicklaus still said nothing. His eyes stayed focused on Geal and in his next breath, small tears slipped out of both eyes.

"Thank you for being here," Nicklaus finally spoke up, trying to keep his already cracking voice strong and nonchalant.

Geal’s heart skipped a beat out of fright when he saw Nicklaus’s tears for the first time in his life.

"Buddy_" he managed to murmur in the face of his crying friend. Nicklaus wasn’t exactly crying but the tears that slipped from his eyes were enough to remind Geal that his friend indeed was a human and would forever be one.

Nicklaus brought the bottle to his lips and this time, he took in five gulps, twice the sizes of the previous ones in one go as if he was drinking water.

His chest burned afterward but he never cared. This was his first time drinking to get drunk but it wasn’t working. His alcohol tolerance could beat that of an average person.

He finished the previous bottle and now, almost half of this but still, nothing has happened. He was still clear-headed and could still think straight which was as annoying as fuck.

Geal on his part was clueless about what to do. He hated those tears but did not know how to stop them.

The sudden water leaving Nicklaus’s eyes caught him off guard as he had never expected it.

Fortunately for him, Nicklaus wiped his eyes with the back of his palm before looking into Geal’s eyes again with his dead ones. His eyes died the second he left his study room back home and so did the humanity he was beginning to have for other people.

"I feel lost without her and the feeling is no pleasure. It burns without a remedy, it does not care about my soul," Nicklaus decided to share his heavy laden.

Geal let out a deep frustrated sigh, "She did this to you? I told you not to fall in love with her. I asked you to be careful,"

Nicklaus rubbed his eyes with the back of his palm, "I fell in love with her before I even knew her better, I wasn’t able to push the feelings away,"

"Love is a distraction," Geal said, his gray eyes boring into Nicklaus’s black ones, "And on this your constant arguments with the woman who you claim to love, I suggest you stay away from her as far as you can,"

Nicklaus glared at Geal, "I should have known," he said with humor, "You would always suggest your playful tactics as usual,"

"I am being serious right now and not playful," Geal said, and as he said, his tone and expression turned more serious, "Let her go, allow her to feel free, then let fate have its way. If she is for you, she’ll stay,"

Nicklaus pondered over Geal’s words and slowly, his hard expression broke down to fear but that was only for a split second. In the next second, he masked his expression with a harder one as if he never got scared.

He hissed harshly, and at the same time pinched the skin between his brows nervously. "Who the fuck is fate? I’ll murder Fate if she tries some dumb shit. Arissa would be mine and if the universe or fate would have a problem with that, they should shove their words up their ass,"

Geal chuckled sadly and shook his head, "I never believed I would lose you to that feeling called love," his eyes turned sad, "Well, congratulations on finding love but..."

He paused and when Nicklaus held his gaze, he continued, "If she ever hurt you, Nicklaus, I promise to wipe her off earth_"

Nicklaus cut him off, "She would not."

Geal frowned, "She is already hurting you, can’t you see that?" he sneered, "She better be careful if she does not want to die so quickly and when I talked about hurting you, your emotions are also involved. Warn her not to ever take your love for granted,"

"Geal," Nicklaus called his name with a warning.

Geal chuckled, a sad one, "What? Do you want to warn me about hurting her? Go on, side with the girl who does not care if you die being broken or not. Side with the girl who takes your love for granted. Side with the girl who doesn’t see your effort and gives you nothing in return. Go on," he slammed at Nicklaus.

He’s right, Nicklaus thought. But still, "Do not ever lay a finger on her. I went to her first and she never asked me for any of the things I do for her," he warned with a harder tune.

"You can keep on with your feelings. I can see you now have a thing for being taken for granted." he drummed his left foot on the floor, "But you would have to wipe me off the surface of the earth first before she hurts you again unless I would take laws into my hands. We can protect each other and our father’s history won’t repeat itself on us,"

Nicklaus blinked at his friend before pushing the wine bottle over to Geal, "Here, have a sip and remember never to hurt Arissa," he held the mouth if the bottle, "I know you but if you hurt just her sight, then you must be ready to risk our bond."

Geal chuckled, "I understand," he said tightly before taking the bottle passed over to him.
