Chapter 270: Punish Her With It.

"You need to work on yourself," Jocelyn advised, parting the hug. "You look like a clown," she added jokingly, seeing Arissa’s all-red face.

Arissa chuckled softly, "I will, thank you for always listening to my rants," she appreciated.

Jocelyn’s eyes widened with gladness, "You aren’t ranting, Arissa. You are only complaining to a friend, to a sister and I am happy you have finally known how important it is to share a burden than thinking you can face it all alone," she said.

Arissa’s eyes turned watery again, "Yeah, I changed a lot," she pointed out.

Deep down, Arissa knew she owned all of her changes to Nicklaus. She can’t deny it and whether she likes it or not, take it or leave it, Nicklaus’s impact on her life was massive and she wants to feel more of those changes.

Her hand secretly went to her lower abdomen and began to rub on it. A soft smile graced her lips when she imagined hugging him when he came back from work with a heavy stomach.

Jocelyn’s lips curled up into a smile, "All the more reason why you should keep Nicklaus and not let him go away. I love the new Arissa better, the real Arissa that woke up after knowing Nicklaus," she said, "I love the new Arissa with a genuine smile and more raw emotions. I love the new Arissa who isn’t scared to cry in my arms and lastly, I love the new Arissa who finally admitted to loving someone who isn’t family," she listed.

Arissa’s lips raised into a pout, "Who isn’t family? Does this mean I haven’t told you I love you?"

A small laugh escaped Jocelyn’s lips, "Really? Did you even hear me well? I said someone who isn’t family. Wait, do you mean that after all the moments we shared you still take me as just a friend?" she questioned in between her laugh.

Arissa released a small chuckle, "Forgive me."

Jocelyn nodded and pulled Arissa into another tight hug, "I pray nothing ever comes between us and we stay friends until we grow gray hairs," she prayed.

"I also pray so, Amen," Arissa sealed the prayer hugging her back, "I love you so much and would never want to lose you,"

A laugh accompanied with tears escaped Jocelyn’s lips after Arissa’s words. Arissa saying these words means a lot to her and she negates Arissa understands that.

They parted the hug, pressed their forehead together, and giggled at each other’s faces. They used their fingers to wipe the next person’s tears.

"Thank you for being here with me," Arissa blurted as she dried Jocelyn’s eyes.

Jocelyn smiled, "Thank you for accepting me as a friend. It means a lot and forever would," she said cheerfully.

They stepped away after a few seconds and Arissa turned over to sleeping Adele. She stared at her sister for a short while before saying, "I would need to go and see her parents. Nicklaus told me the operation was successful,"

When Arissa mentioned his name, she felt how heavy her heart became and how it skipped a beat.

She misses him and just the sound of his voice would be enough for her and sadly, he decided to punish her with it

"Yeah it was," Jocelyn affirmed moving away to her makeup bag not knowing where Arissa’s mind left away to at the moment. "But you can’t step out of this ward looking that way," she said, pulling out a wipe from the bag.

She walked over to Arissa, "Here," she presented the wipe before Arissa.

Arissa took the wipe from Jocelyn and cleaned the whole of her messed up face before going into the bathroom to wash and dry it properly.

"I’d try calling, Nick, again," she said walking out of the bathroom.

Jocelyn nodded, "That’s a good idea. It’s past five already and I think you should go back home after seeing the couple. I will inform you when Adeke wakes up,"

Arissa nodded and took out her phone. Unlocking it, she swiped through her messages but nothing was sent to her from him. She went to her call log and it was the same thing.

She tried calling him once more and it went over to a voice mail which stabbed her heart. Putting up the brightest smile she could muster, she smiled at the phone before fixing it back into her purse.

"You don’t have to worry, Even if he does not reply to your texts, he will come back home tonight and that’s why I want you to go back home early and prepare him a meal if possible," Jocelyn spoke up seeing through Arissa’s smile.

Arissa raised her chin this time around with a more dazzling smile, "No one told me love would be this hard," she joked

Jocelyn bit her lower lip, "I never wanted to scare you off," she added her joke alongside Arissa’s own.

Arissa was about to say something more but then her eyes caught sight of Jocelyn’s vibrating phone on the table.

"Aren’t you going to take that?" her voice was laced with curiosity.

Jocelyn spared the phone a lazy glance before shrugging her shoulders. "I’m not. The modeling company won’t stop calling me and I do not know why. I’ve decided for Freya to take the role and I want nothing more,"

Arissa’s brows formed an arc from confusion, "You mean the company keeps on calling you and not your manager?"

"Uhm, yes. At least from the voice note they left, they made sure to introduce themselves but that wasn’t enough," Jocelyn replied.

Arissa flung her hands in the air, "Give them a reply for goodness sake."

"What do I do after replying?" she asked, "They would realize Freya is fake the moment I give them a reply,"

"You"

"I would think about it," Jocelyn cut Arissa off, "For now, visit her parents and think about what you would do to appease Nicklaus,"
