His Toxic Addiction -
Chapter 263: Do She Have A Heart?
Chapter 263: Do She Have A Heart?
Nicklaus stayed alone in his office, drowning his longing for Arissa in a bottle of alcoholic wine as he reflected over the city.
The feeling in the air roared great loneliness and sadness. His heart bleeds and the whole objects in the office mourned with him even if they were not humans - that was how great his sadness was.
He licked his upper lips, looked up at his ceiling, and back at the window with great effort not to let his expression and emotions break down just as his heart did.
He thought she was different. He expected her to be different but never did he expect she would crumble him this badly and was only waiting for the right time.
He swirled his wine glass and filled it to the brim again. He brought the glass to his lips, took in a full gulp, and crossed his right leg over the other as he relaxed on his seat.
His phone vibrated on the small table beside him. He fixed his piercing eyes on the phone as if he would blow it up if it keeps on disturbing his peace.
As if his hard glare worked magic and was understood by the phone, the vibration stopped after three seconds.
Nicklaus took his eyes off his phone and faced the window again. However, the moment he did that, the phone began to vibrate again.
With great anger, he flipped the phone over. The moment he turned the phone over, his anger increased when he saw it was Arissa calling.
"Fucking leave my life," he hollered.
Not thinking twice, he threw the phone across and forcefully smashed it into the wall. The innocent handset was ruthlessly destroyed after that.
He was unable to accept the fact that after all his promises and vows to himself, it took only a woman to break all of it and make him feel down to his weakest.
He should hate her, he should ignore her or maybe, he should get another woman. All of these he mentioned, he had thought about it but none worked. Each time he tries, he sees himself going back to her.
He relaxed his head on his seat headrest and faced his ceiling. Looking at his ceiling, he imagined Arissa not saying those words. He imagined them meeting under different circumstances and he also imagined them having a real wedding and also spending quality time together with their kids.
He took his eyes off his ceiling and faced his window and like a movie, his imagination became vivid and he imagined more.
Nicklaus chuckled and finally, those salty waters left his eyes when he imagined hearing their children calling him "Dada" with a childish grin on their lips.
Or when they would runs to him with a hug and all three or four, go down to the floor with lots of giggling and laughter.
He had never hoped for or wanted any of these nor have he imagined something like this with anyone and now, the one person he wants all of this from does not want it with him.
Rather, she raises his high to the sky with hopes only to heartlessly drops him to the floor with no emotions.
"Do she even have a heart?" he muttered, asking himself. In the past, people had always asked him this but now, he had come to realize he does have one if compared to his heartless wife.
A low knock resounded on his door and Nicklaus’s hard expressionless eyes looked away from his office French window and faced his door.
He frowned in disapproval when he heard a knock and was even more displeased when the knock drew him out of the fake world he had managed to imagine himself and Arissa in, only to bring him to reality. A harsh reality where he would forever be alone and a harsh reality where he misses her even after what she had done and said to him.
"Words," he impatiently ordered the person at the door to speak up.
"Sir, someone wants to see you," he heard Amber’s voice giving him a reply.
His brow creased. He came here the moment Arissa selfishly hurt him and he ordered for no one to disturb him. Does Amber not listen? He thought.
Another knock sounded on the door and Amber gave her report, "The lady desperately wants to see you. She has been around for five hours now,"
Nicklaus’s frown deepened and he dropped his wine-filled glass on the small table beside him. He had thought the lady would be Arissa. Maybe, after not answering to her texts or calls, he had thought she came over but Amber scattered his heart by telling him about a five hours time range.
His quarrel with Arissa was barely three hours which means she never came. ’Does she even know when someone gets hurt? Does her heartless heart feel it?’ he thought painfully.
Karma! He hates karma. He felt like Arissa was his karma for all of the ladies he had treated this way.
With a dead voice, he said, "Five hours? It’s barely two hours since I came in," he gave reasons why that lady should be sent away.
"Sir, she said she won’t leave her until she sees you." Amber pressed on. She understood her boss’s tune but she also felt pity for the lady who had been waiting.
Nicklaus sat up in his seat, "What is her name? Did she give you any details?"
Amber nodded, "Ah! Yes, she did. She mentioned her name to be Miss Raquel. She kept it short claiming to know you personally."
Nicklaus’s face flattened and he relaxed back into his seat, "Send her away. Tell her I do not want to see her," he ordered.
"But_"
Nicklaus struck the wine glass off the table in anger. "Send her away!" he ordered coldly. "But you can let her stay if you want to lose your job." he gave her options.
Amber took in a startled breath when she heard the glass-shattering sound. Her heartbeat fastened that was when she discovered that her boss was fully back to his familiar cold and detached self again.
Without anyone translating words for her, she bowed her head at the door and scrambled away. Before she got to the elevator, she immediately dialed Geal’s line.
Everyone here knows the cold dominant CEO sometimes listens to Gral and she was only lucky to have his number.
He should come down and do something before her boss freezes all of them with his temper.
