Chapter 253: Crying Was Good For The Soul.

Nicklaus went up to her face level after placing thousands of kisses on her flat stomach. Arissa beamed all the way and let him do his thing.

Nicklaus placed a kiss on her nose tip. He pressed their forehead together, looked into her eyes, and questioned, "You know why I did that?"

Arissa smiled at him. "No. But I might if I should guess,"

"The floor is open," Nicklaus permitted her to guess.

Arissa cleared her throat, "You... you’re..." she pondered for a while, and then she laughed, "I can’t guess. Just go on and tell me,"

Nicklaus laughed with her, "I’m sending my kisses to your future kids. I might not get to meet them and you might not tell them about me so I want them to know that even before they came into this world they had a place in my heart," he said with a firm tone.

Arissa froze at his words and her heart melted. Her eyes stung and she could not pinpoint the main reason she was close to tears.

"But if you could do me this favor, I want them to know my name and while spending time with your daughter when she’s of age, I want you to let her know about the times we shared and how your first marriage went," he added.

Arissa tried to keep a straight face as she drew her lips in and with a light smile, she promised, "I will."

Nicklaus nodded at her. He rolled away from her body and drew her into his arm. Arissa hugged him back and thought back on how much she had changed with him.

She placed some tender kisses on his hard muscles before asking, "How about you, would your kids know about me?"

"No," Nicklaus replied without wasting a breath.

Arissa’s heart dropped. "Why so?"

Nicklaus looked up at the lavender cloud ceiling in the nursery, "I never planned to get married to you and I’m afraid my marriage experience would end after you,"

Arissa was surprised, "What? Why?"

Nicklaus turned to her, "You’re one of a kind, you’re rare," he said affectionately and looked away, "And I won’t keep illegitimate kids. So I’m afraid I’d end this with you,"

Arissa’s mouth formed an ’oh’ and her expression turned sad. To make matters worst, he does not seem to consider terminating their contract.

"Does this have anything to do with your first love?"

Nicklaus’s expression flattened, "If it’s on why I don’t want another woman, it does. My experience with her is my fuel to staying single on earth." he answered.

Arissa gulped and bit on her lower lip. She released it and licked it a thousand times, trying to calm her heart and amend it if possible.

She suddenly felt hurt in his arm. How would he crush her and still hold her this way as if he cares about her?

He does care about her but she doubts he cares about her heart. He does not care about her heart and never would.

"I think I should freshen up," she said pushing him away.

"You should," Nicklaus agreed not taking note of her tune. She sounded shattered.

He stood up and helped Arissa up, "Use the bathroom here, I’d bring a few things over for you to change into," he said and Arissa just nodded.

She can’t wait to get into any bathroom in this house and let her tears flow out. She should not cry, she knew but she needed the tears that were about to leave her, and again, crying was good for the soul.

She no longer wants to be Mrs. Wyatt in just papers, she wants something more. She wants that title to be carved on a particular person’s heart.

She wants more, something more than the contract forbids but she doesn’t mind. She no longer minds, she wants his heart but he does not see that.

Can’t he forget about that first love of his? Can’t he let new people who love him in? Would he moan or grieve on her until his last breath? Doesn’t he think it’s unfair? Does he not know he’s being unfair to her and the whole universe? To the people that want a place in his heart?

This was beginning to kill her from the inside but she was scared. She was scared to speak up, scared of rejection, and again, she want to be strongly sure she loves him before she open these lips of hers to let out such words.

Meanwhile, when she stood straight, Nicklaus rubbed her bare back and kissed her shoulders.

Arissa trembled when his lips caressed her shoulders. She folded her fist and shot her eyes to stop her tears.

He was slowly killing her. If he still loves his ex this great, why does he keep dotting on her and giving her hope?

His lips left her shoulder and in a heartbeat, they landed on the spot she was injured on by her father at the hospital.

It was already healed but he still placed his kiss on that exact spot. Her hands trembled and her toes curled in strong urges to stop herself. However, her struggles were fruitless.

It did not take a second more for Arissa to raise her hands and hug him right to herself. Nicklaus immediately wrapped his hands around her as if he had been waiting for her hold.

They remained silent in the hug until Arissa said, "Can we still go out on a date? The one you once requested?"

Nicklaus chuckled, "Would I be given that honor?"

Arissa raised her face and placed her chin on his chest, gazing up at him, "I’m sorry for delaying it this long," she apologized.

Nicklaus looked down at her. "That’s fine. You haven’t been idle," he eased her guilt. "So tonight?"

"Tonight," Arissa agreed.

She gave him a toothless smile before walking away from him, naked.
