His Toxic Addiction
Chapter 242: A Grown-ass Man.

Chapter 242: A Grown-ass Man.

Valeria stretched her hand to him and accepted the necklace. She placed it on her palm and gaped at it long and hard.

Suddenly, she reached for her shirt and brought out the same type of necklace hidden behind her shirt.

"You had one?" Logan was surprised to see a copy of his necklace on her neck. The night she gave it to him, he thought it was just one of her normal gifts.

Valeria laughed, "I did," she looked at the other one on her palm, "Do you mind if I put this on you?" she asked.

He was no longer the teenager she left behind. A man sat before her and he might not want to wear the necklace as it might look a bit off on him.

Though unisex and casual, Valeria doubted he won’t see it as a big deal to put it on now.

Logan clicked his tongue at her, "That should be my job and not the other way round," he proceeded to snatch the necklace but she beat him to it and took her hand away.

"You can’t be serious. I’m a grown-ass man," he gave excuses why he won’t let her put that on him like in the past.

"I insist,"

Logan puffed out a breath. He combed his hair with his fingers and started at the woman before him. Valeria stared back and within a second, they cracked up together.

The tensed muscles in Logan’s body relaxed from the laugh they just shared. He had killed these happy feelings in him. He killed all of them when she left, he thought she would never come back and wait, how did she get his contact again after so many years?

Valeria came closer holding the necklace up, "Can I?"

"You can." Logan surrendered.

Valeria’s cheeks rose at his reply. She leaned closer to him, tiled her head on his shoulder blade, and put the necklace on him.

Valeria’s breath on his neck provoked a feeling in him. A few more of his dead feelings arrived and when her fingertips landed softly on his neck, the feelings crawled up to his head and threatened to tear him open.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Valeria cupped both sides of his checks when she was done and gave him her wildest smile. Her lips not too far away.

Her eyes went down to the necklace hanging on his neck and back to his eyes, "I missed you so much,"

Logan did not reply to that with words. His eyes explained it all. If he should start telling her how much he misses her, she would doubt him. Even now she’s seated before him, he still missed her.

He pulled her into another warm embrace, "I’m glad we found our way back. How did you find my contact?" he wasn’t supposed to reason so much on this but he had to.

He knows his work and how well he hid himself.

"Dummy! Don’t you know I could find you with my dad’s resources? Was that even a question?" Valeria asked still hugging him and thanks to that, she did not see how ugly his face changed.

’Have I been that open?’ he thought.

He believed he hid himself securely with layer after layer before going after Alfred. How could this be possible? Did someone uncover him on purpose?

"Nicklaus," the name rang in his mind and he gritted his teeth in response. His eyes turned hazy from rage.

Valeria felt the change in his emotions and pulled away from the hug, "What happened?"

Logan blinked to calm himself down before replying, "I realized how stupid I’ve been," he answered, his words having two meanings.

One meaning of it represented Valeria and the other represented Nicklaus. In Valeria’s case, he had been stupid in the fact he never searched for her even after having money and power.

Well, he was scared she would have forgotten him, and another thing, he just started acquiring the power weeks ago. Soon, very soon he would own Lincoln’s business, and then, Arissa would be his woman.

Valeria smiled. "You have always been stupid and dumb!" she joked.

There, she always have her way of creating a joke out of everything, and just like magic, his issue with the world went away and he fixed his whole attention on Valeria.

"So tell me, who is that lucky Frenchman?" he brought up one topic that have been at the back of his mind since she departed.

Valeria turned red, "Like a lover?"

Logan nodded, "Like a lover," he affirmed.

Valeria smiled, "I’m not a fan of commitment. I preferred the one-night game the most," she playfully hit Logan’s arm, "You know, the no-strings-attached sex?"

She went on, "I had such sex with few men back in college. Most times to forget you exist. But well, I do have a lucky man but so sad he just got married."

"What an irony!" Logan chuckled, "You never confessed your feelings?"

Valeria pouted, "Why wouldn’t I? I would have if he gave me the chance to. I never saw him after that night, it was as if I woke up to a dream," she chatter as if Logan was a woman like her.

Logan left brow lifted, "You fell in love with him after your one night?" he asked.

"No, he’s a friend to Geal. Geal introduced me to him via images and I waited for the day I’d meet him. Finally, Geal told me there was an opportunity to meet him but it would be just for a night," she bent her lower lips and began to gesture with her hands, "I agreed to it, thinking that would bring us closer but to my disappointment, he disappeared from my life and two weeks ago, I heard from a friend that he was married,"

Logan hummed with humor, "From a friend? He must be a celebrity, did you get to see his wife?"

"No, but I bet I’d be prettier than her," Valeria boosted with a dramatic hair flip and as the biggest cheerleader he had always been to her, he gave her a round of applause.

"Of course! Of course!!" he hailed her, "But just so you know, my Angel there," he pointed to Arissa’s frame, "..is also a beauty,"

Valeria frowned at him and he responded to her frown with a grin.

"You can get so annoying," she sighed.

Logan pinched her cheek, "Only for you, darling," he assured her with a smile. This time, Valeria blushed hard.

Logan smiled at her, "Let’s go and have lunch," he suggested and as the foodie she had always been, she stood up first and Logan could only smile walking behind her.

Getting there, Sarah was already seated eating. Logan walked to the head of the dining with Valeria and after pulling her seat out for her to seat on, he went over to his seat and sat down.

They both ignored the figure that was once in the hall and their display of affection did not escape Sarah’s watch.

"Eat up," Logan said as he placed some more rice into her plate, "You need some flesh,"

Valeria chuckled, "But you said I gained some weight earlier," she reminded picking up her cutleries.

Logan added some vegetables to his plate, "Yeah, you did but certain places were avoided in that weight gain," he raised his face from his meal and winked at her.

Valeria’s face turned red at his comment. She drooped her cutleries and relaxed on her dining seat.

"What now?" Logan asked afraid he had provoked her woman instinct. You know, that side in a woman hearth that could be overly sensitive to her weight.

Sarah buried herself in her food as she gave them side glances. Their affection was all too much for her to bear.

"I think my stomach wants to be fed by you," she answered lazily looking into his eyes. She waited for him not to understand what she meant but to her greatest surprise, Logan stopped his meal and leaned closer to her.

He pointed out, "We are no longer kids,"

Valeria rolled her eyes, "I know. Don’t tell me you’ll let me stay hungry," she raised a brow at him.

"Fine," Logan gave up.

He put a long stake into his mouth and brought his lips closer. Valeria’s eyes shot up in memories and excitement.

She happily leaned in and cut the stake into halves, directly feeding from his mouth without their lips touching.

Sarah’s cutleries dropped forcefully at the scene, eliciting a loud screeching sound from her plates and spoons contact.

She wiped her mouth with the towel and stood up from her seat. She has had enough of these two. Worst still, she was about to cry, "I’m sorry, excuse me,"

Logan finally noticed her, "Sarah, where are you going?"

Sarah turned away from them. "My room," she choked out trying to hold her tears back but to no avail, "I have some reports to take care of,"

Logan did not say anything more and continued feeding Valeria and Valeria never cared about the girl.

It was now obvious the girl likes Logan but when she came in with a friendly foot, the girl was all meanie to her.
