Valeria smiled up at Logan as he carried her up the staircase. "You healed a lot," she started. In the past, he lets her alone close to him, and before she could achieve that, she was made to walk through fire at a very young age and it was all worth it. However now, he let a lot of people surround him.

Logan just hummed at her compliment and continued walking up the staircase.

Valeria looked around the moderately luxurious mansion. The place looked exactly like what he told her years back he wants as a dream house but what she don’t understand was why he had so many men moving around.

"And you got legs," she noticed. This time, Logan looked down at her, "I’m glad I did," he replied gratefully.

Not many people know he doesn’t have legs. It was just her alone and Vincent but now, Laura knows, summing it up to all three persons.

"You added weight," Logan grumbled lifting her with fake grunts. His acts were quite comical.

Valeria laughed, "Obviously I would. I’m no longer little, am I?" she asked wrapping her hand around his neck for support. She knew he was trying to change the topic.

His legs were always his sensitive topic. He never talks about them and she wondered why but never asked why.

She believes he would open up whenever he wants to and she doubts he still trusts her. She has seen the whole of Logan and leaving for ten years might have emptied her spot in his heart.

And that girl she saw, who was she? Even if Logan wants a girlfriend, that girl doesn’t look his type, and from her notice, the girl seems to be a teenager.

Logan grinned. He eyed her bosom and laughed, "Some things are. It’s like they never grew," he said carelessly.

Valeria got the meaning of his words and with a nonchalant expression, she rolled her eyes, "You are still annoying,"

"And you are still my darling," he retorted with a wide grin.

Valeria scoffed, "The darling you abandoned for years?" she questioned this time her voice more serious and filled with questions.

He never called her. The phone she got for him, he changed his contact and also on the day of her departure, he refused to see her that one last time.

What if she had never come back?

Logan’s feet halted. He gently drooped Valeria to the floor and held her gaze unsure of what to say.

They stared at each other that way for almost a minute. Valeria took the first step closer to him and Logan finished it by covering the distance quickly and pulling her into a hug.

He hugged her very tightly. Valeria was his best friend and the only family he has so, one could understand why he treats her with so much care and love.

He met her a week after his family dismiss. She became his savior from that day, the only shoulder he leaned on but he changed. Things changed and he had to hide from her.

Back then, she would even sneak a few of her other male best friend’s clothes to him each time the boy sleeps over.

He survived on her.

He had planned to push her away but all it took for him to go back on his decision was a call. When she called him today, he realized how empty he was and how much he needed a break and let go of all this craziness.

However, the part that said he should take a break was what he would never agree with. That would never come. Not until he kills Alfred and makes Nicklaus pay for blocking his once smooth way and making it this hard.

The only reason he keeps Alfred alive was to make the man watch him claim all he once had under his name. Through Chief, Logan knew some hidden secrets he can use against Alfred in front of the law but that should go to the dust.

He aimed to kill Alfred and not jail him.

Back to Valeria, he said, "I never abandoned you. You left to study and you went to a place specialized for the rich,"

Valeria pulled away from his arm, "I always told you not to think this way. On the day of my departure, I waited but you never came. Your presence would have changed something, I would have talked to my parents and made them accept you," she slammed at him.

"Same rich business people?" Logan ridiculed her words in his thoughts.

Valeria went on, "Why didn’t you come? You agreed to be there,"

Logan sighed, "I was occupied," he answered.

Valeria’s eyes widened. "Occupied? With things more important than I am?" she nagged him with conflicted feelings flashing through her eyes.

Logan pulled her back into his arms, "We should have this conversation in a room. We shouldn’t start our reunion this way, I have a lot I want you to catch up on," he raised a brow at her, "Don’t you want to know how I got the money to get my legs done?" he asked her.

Valeria calmed down but not completely. She searched his eyes for another minute. His words bought her over but not fully and she want to know this man before her better so she nodded slowly.

Logan nodded, "I’d have a room arranged to your taste for now_"

Valeria cut him off, "Not now. I’d have to get back to work by tomorrow. I’m not staying,"

Logan frowned, "Work? I thought you just returned."

"You never cared to ask so you don’t know. I came back two days ago and I work with Geal. You know him, also my best friend from years back," she explained.

The skin between Logan’s brows folded, "..the one you cut his clothes to my size?" he asked for clarification.

Valeria nodded with a smile. She was glad to have found her way back to Logan again.

Logan ran his hand through his hair. Valeria never changed her habit of smiling so easily. She was mad seconds ago and now she’s smiling without him trying.

"Let’s talk in my room and you must spend tonight here," he told her authoritatively but mixed with gentle care.

Valeria nodded and entwined their fingers together, "You have a lot to answer for," she informed.

Logan just smirked at her and faced ahead before walking away with her.

Unknown to them, an obsessed human hid under the staircase, quietly listening to their conversation.
