His Toxic Addiction -
Chapter 239: Someone’s Property.
Chapter 239: Someone’s Property.
Nicklaus walked in the direction he caught sight of Nathan when he was here with Arissa.
Nathan appeared without being called and after having a little conversation with him, Nicklaus walked towards the elevator.
The once drizzling rain began to pour heavily and not being a fan of the rain, his mood turned sour and cold with a detached expression.
He went into the elevator and pressed the number on Adele’s floor. He felt a bit uneasy and it left him worried. He took off his tie and unbuttoned the first two buttons of his inner shirt.
The elevator opened when he got to Adele’s floor and if Nicklaus was uneasy before, he was now panic-stricken.
Nicklaus froze up as if the world have ended.
Right before his eyes, a scene he had never imagined played two feet away from him. His blood ran cold from dreed.
He looked at the two figures before him. While Arissa stared at the gun with hopeless fear, Alfred had an evil success grin tugged on the side of his lips.
It happened so fast, in a split second. Before Alfred would look away from Arissa to know who the intruder was, he was knocked off to the floor.
Nicklaus was fast, very fast. One could consider it an inhuman speed at that moment as his instinct fueled his legs.
The gun dropped to the floor and the sudden push that caught Alfred off guard got him flying meters away. Arissa dropped to the floor with heavy breathing.
Nicklaus went to Arissa and pulled her into his embrace. He made sure to keep the gun under him before kneeling to cradle her into his arms.
Arissa held her neck tenderly, trying to get her breathing back to normal. She glanced up at the man holding her and her tears almost spilled.
She wrapped her hands around him and hugged him tightly. Nicklaus hugged her back. She trembled badly in his arms as an effect of what was about to happen. He gently rubbed her arm to soothe her.
Arissa tried to calm down but that was the most impossible thing for her at this moment. She tried to close her eyes and lie to herself about what just transpired but the pain in her head served as a reminder that she was in reality and was in nobody’s or her dream.
She clenched the collars of Nicklaus’s shirt and sobbed into it. She promised not to cry today again as she had cried too much for the day but cried now. She no longer cares about her eyes and it was not as if she can stop the tears from gushing out.
Her father would have pulled that trigger within a second. And Nicklaus, why did he arrive now? He was almost late, she got so scared that she would die.
Regardless of that, he was here now and that was what mattered. His presence made a difference and for that, she still breathes.
Nicklaus was speechless.
His anger took control of him and speaking became a hopeless situation. He wanted some violence to calm down. Someone has to pay for this and he won’t calm down especially not when that person was behind him.
He pulled Arissa’s face up and placed a kiss on it, "Arissa_" his words caught up in his throat when he saw blood smeared on her left cheek and roughly at her left eye’s angle.
He brushed her hair off that side to have a clearer view. What else did Alfred do to her? She looked extremely pale, and her lips chapped.
"Wait here," he ordered her before pushing away. He stood straight and turned to Alfred and then his eyes caught sight of the nurse.
Cassandra instantly shrieked in horror when Nicklaus met her eyes. Her throat ran dry. She has worked for so many bad men but she hasn’t met one who incites so much fear on their culprits with just a glance. Yes! He wasn’t even glaring, it was just a glance, and she felt like his hand was on her neck taking the life out of her.
Nicklaus looked away from the nurse and faced the man on the floor struggling to stand up. The fling was hard and perhaps, he might have broken a bone or two.
He got to Alfred, grabbed him by the collar, and flipped the man over. He landed a good opening blow on Alfred’s face and from where she was seated, Arissa’s breath hitched.
What was Nicklaus doing? Again, she saw fear in his eyes when she looked up at him earlier. Does he fear for her life?
Nicklaus lifted Alfred’s body from the floor and violently slammed his back on the wall. Alfred grunt as the air left his lungs.
Casandra gasped in fear when Alfred back collided with the wall brutally. Blood left Alfred’s nose from the blow earlier but that did not stop Nicklaus from landing another on the man’s face.
"What gave you the right to point a gun at her face that way?" Nicklaus growled, letting his dark side take over. No one hurts Arissa!
He repeats, no one hurts Arissa, and no human born of a woman ever will unless they kill him first.
Now he was alive, no one would and whoever dares, he would torture them and he doesn’t care if he has to torture her parents also.
Alfred did not reply. He started dazed at Nicklaus with a small mocking smile. His eyes went to Arissa, he believed Nicklaus won’t hurt him before her.
Nicklaus took his grip off Alfred’s collar and choked him on the neck, exactly the way Alfred had done with Arissa.
Alfred suffocated, the smile on his face washing away when he realized Nicklaus’s intention. Nicklaus’s killing intention was pure and strong. In short, he was staring at the face of death and he don’t think Arissa could save him.
"What gave you the right to think you can hurt her?" Nicklaus asked calm and low but his grip on Alfred’s neck spoke otherwise.
He won’t mind becoming a criminal with this man as his first kill. He met Alfred pointing a gun at his wife’s face and not that alone, he choked her on the wall and now she bleeds from her head. Now, someone should give him reasons why he shouldn’t kill this man.
Alfred brought his two hands to Nicklaus’s hand on his neck to pull it off. He struggled and the more he struggled, the more breathing became difficult for him.
He parted his lips to breathe, "She..she’s my daughter," he forced air into his lungs, "I have the right to choose if she lives or she dies," he managed to force out of his lips.
Nicklaus chuckled darkly in disbelief. This man has just made everything worst. "That doesn’t give you a right. You lost everything concerning right over her the second she became my wife," he informed to refresh the old man’s memory.
Arissa’s body tensed up hearing Nicklaus. Was that how deep their contract was? What more does she not know about this contract?
Everything she read on her signing day doesn’t seem to be all the contract holds. From Nicklaus’s speech, she now sounded like his property. Was that what her parents turned her into? Someone’s property?
Nicklaus grew impatient and with great anger, he whipped the gun on Alfred’s face and a scream left Arissa’s lips.
Alfred regained hope when he heard Arissa finally screaming. He knows her heart so well to think she would let him die.
"Tell me what gave you such right or I’d damn consequences and end your life now," Nicklaus went on ignoring Arissa’s scream of plea while Casandra stood at her spot searching for a way to save herself if she has to.
Arissa shut her eyes. She felt dizzy from the hard hit and at the moment, her white vest was also stained from her blood.
She forced herself to stand up using the aid of the wall. Nicklaus was so lost in his anger and did not catch sight of her limping towards him.
She wants her father jailed and not killed. Even if she wanted him killed, she do not want Nicklaus to be the one killing him. Her father does not deserve such glory.
"Nicklaus please," Arissa pleaded breathing heavy from tiredness. She haven’t even walked up to ten steps yet her breathing became labored.
Nicklaus paused, he turned to her, and his anger multiplied. What the fuck was she doing trying to walk? That blood leaving her head, does she think it was fun for him to see it or does she think she could walk?
"Arissa_" and for the second time, his words died in his throat. He dropped Alfred to the floor and just before Arissa’s body would drop to the floor, Nicklaus was there to catch her falling body.
She drooped into his hands with her eyes tightly shut and Nicklaus forgot how to breathe. Lucky him, the elevator door opened again and Nathan walked in to give the reports as planned, alongside Daniel.
