His Toxic Addiction
Chapter 236: Just A Friend.

Chapter 236: Just A Friend.

Both men walked side by side, respectfully giving the next person his space. There was also a tight unfriendly silence between them.

The unfriendly air came directly from Nicklaus. He doesn’t want to have anything that wasn’t work-related to talk to this doctor with anymore.

He realized he have to indulge and protect Arissa from all angles if he doesn’t want to be emotionally destroyed again for the second time by a woman.

Although, Arissa hasn’t left him. She hasn’t spoken about leaving for a while now yet that wasn’t enough to give Nicklaus the assurance he wants.

There was a searing pain deep down in his chest right now meanwhile, on the outside he looked unaffected by Collins’s presence. He saw how Arissa cares about the doctor which counts as more than enough for a reason why he should be scared.

A woman’s heart should never be tagged as stable. Their heart blinks and changes without a reason. His mother was a solid example of that.

Nicklaus’s mind went back to the memory of the first time they met. Her brown eyes, which were still the most beautiful part of her body to him were what captured him on that day before any other thing about her.

He was taken aback when she bravely and unapologetically took a glass out of his drink. He was mad then, and about to lash out but when she choked on the drink, he froze at her cuteness and that was also the first time he forgot how to breathe. Her unperformed cuteness was like a small blinking light drooping amidst his dark world.

He figured out her innocence right at that spot and when he decided to help her out as she claimed he should, he wasn’t disappointed with her, and even though that night was torture to him, he had the best night ever. Thinking about it, he was glad she found her way to him that night, although she was trying to run from him.

He chuckled in his thought when he remembered her reaction on the day she knew he was her husband. Her expression was as if she was given a thousand unbearable slaps.

Nicklaus finally understood it. She bewitched him from the first moment he set his eyes on her. Those calm innocent but fierce brown eyes never stared at him ordinarily.

He had been smitten with her since that day and after almost losing control of himself on her today, Nicklaus was ashamed of himself and at the same time terrified.

He feared his closeness with her but she gave him a reason not to. Her actions explained she trusts him which he would doubt until she says it herself.

From the beginning, Arissa had been everything he needs. He wasn’t playing when he envisioned a family with her.

There would be no more divorce between them. Nicklaus felt sorry to decide on this alone but he would not let the divorce stand.

From this moment, no matter what happens, or what she says, he would keep on fixing it together. He wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

That mini him, he wants it inside of her. He wants to have the rest of his crazy sexual adventures with her alone and he wants to cuddle with her all night long on his balcony, under the sky with the stars as his witness that she belongs to him and him alone.

And then, he also wishes for more years on earth. She changed his whole reason to live when she walked through that door.

He never thought his hate for women would subside the way it did for her. It was as if she washed all of those feelings away by just looking at him. So, no way!

No more divorce!!! Anyone waiting for them to divorce should plot his death first because it would be over his dead body for Arissa to leave him.

He tilted his head towards Collins, "Dr. Brodkin, do you know where we are going?" he asked curiously. The man hadn’t asked a question but just trailed behind like an employee.

Collins met Nicklaus’s eyes, "I don’t," he said, "I don’t even have to. It’s not like you are out to end my life." he added jokingly.

Nicklaus did not find the joke to be a joke. While Collins chuckled, a small frown painted his face. With the level at which this doctor annoys him, what made him so sure that he won’t one day be out to end his life?

"What made you this confident?" Nicklaus questioned with a straight face.

Collins paused, "I’m important to Arissa and you won’t want to give her a reason to cry," he gave a simple reason and continued moving.

He meant his reason. He saw how Nicklaus treats Arissa and if one day he can’t endure this torture anymore and wants to bite back, he would use Arissa as a strong bait.

This man should just wait or better still, stop making him feel this way.

Nicklaus halted his steps. He looked at Collins back unable to say a word. He flexed his jaw in disbelief before he continued walking.

He pondered a little over Collins’s words and although the negativity of the words pushed into his mind, Nicklaus refused to accept it. Rather, he pushed the words to the back of his mind.

This doctor really places himself so high in Arissa’s life. However, no matter what happens, he would forever remain just a friend. He concluded the whole issue with those words.

Nicklaus brushed Collins’s words off and brought up the main reason he asked for a moment, "I want you to examine a couple down the hallway,"

Collins paused, "A couple? Your parents?"

"No," Nicklaus managed to answer, "Go and see them for yourself,"

Collins switched from annoying back to professional.
