Chapter 237: He Accepts To Be Deceived On This.

Collins’s eyes grew impossibly wide seeing who stood before him. He turned to Nicklaus with his eyes searching for an explanation but to his disappointment, Nicklaus turned away and nodded to the man at the door.

This was the man I saw with Adele’s lookalike. Wait! Don’t tell me the lady is the one on the bed. Collins thought in astonishment. If so, he was proud of Arissa.

His heartbeat fastened when he felt Nicklaus’s aura. A part of him told him that the man beside him could be the main reason for all of this but Collins refused to believe that.

If he deceives himself refusing to believe so, then this time, he accepts to be deceived on this.

Catching the sight of the doctor, Stephen felt a rush of relief rushing through him. He found it hard to believe. He thought this day would never come.

"Oh, my Lord!" Stephen said with tears crawling to his eyes and struggling to come out of them. He turned to Nicklaus, "Thank you so much, son,"

Nicklaus blinked at Stephen. Only his late father and Mr. Wyatt call him a son. Strangers calling him a son disgusts him a lot since the title always brings back some cursed memories but today, something changed.

He appreciated the man who just called him a son. He felt every bone in him accepting this man.

’Is it because he is linked to Arissa,’ he thought in greater confusion at his sentiment feelings. It can’t be. If it was because of Arissa, why did he not accept Alfred calling him a son?

Or was it because Arissa accepted his man from her heart?

He nodded at the man and turned to Collins. Placing an encouraging hand on his shoulder, he said, "Arissa counts on you,"

"I know," Collins replied. He don’t know what the sickness was but he believe his best would go a long way.

Nicklaus turned back to Stephen, "Take care of yourself. I have to go and be with my wife. He would start the surgery as soon as possible," he informed.

Stephen was just in a daze and unable to even blink. He was moved by the couple’s meek heart and had no words left to say. Although Laura made mistakes, she did her best to train her daughter to be kind and loving. For that, his respect for Laura returned.

He wished she was here. He would have apologized for all those moments he had pushed away from her after their breakup. For her daughter to be here, it was clear she knows about Beatrice’s condition and the reason she can’t come was because of him.

He held Nicklaus’s eyes. The man doesn’t look like a hugger if not he would have hugged him. Words aren’t enough for him to express his gratitude to them and also money would be an insult.

The man before him ranks the world’s richest so any amount he - Stephen - offers would just be filthy changes to him so he could only pray for God to protect them and keep them happy. When they have children of their own, he prays he and his wife’s luck never fall on the younger couple.

Nicklaus did not waste one more second before walking away. He made a mental note to come back later.

........

Arissa rolled her eyes, "He is only helping. By the way, we made a deal a few weeks ago and I believe he’s keeping to it," she backlashes Jocelyn’s claim.

"Don’t be stupid, Arissa! Don’t ever be." Jocelyn yelled at her friend, "You mean to tell me that you don’t see how he looks at you? Do you call this Help? Are you trying to play stupid here or it’s all part of your denial!"

Arissa’s face turned pale at Jocelyn’s words. What can’t her friend understand here? The both of them, she and Nicklaus, can not be with each other, can’t Jocelyn understand that? Why was she trying to force more words from her mouth?

She shook her head at Jocelyn. Her friend was becoming unbelievable. She wears the shoe and knows where it hurts but Jocelyn doesn’t want to know that.

So upon all, she explained to her today, does this mean Jocelyn heard nothing? Does she think denying and rejecting her feelings was easy for her? Does Jocelyn think she doesn’t want Nicklaus all for herself forever? What’s so hard here that Jocelyn doesn’t understand?

Arissa drew her shoes beside her closer to herself and began to put them on. Fixing her shoelaces, she arranged her blazer and turned to Jocelyn.

"I need to get some fresh air," She said standing up.

"What?"

"I need to get some fresh air," she repeated, almost in tears. All of these feelings choked her and when she needed Jocelyn’s understanding as to why she can’t embrace them, her friend decided to act otherwise and not give her support.

She grabbed her purse from the table, "Call me if Adele wakes up," she said to Jocelyn without turning to look at her.

"Okay," Jocelyn replied.

Arissa frankly needed that fresh air. Maybe when her brain resets, she would understand what she was saying.

Arissa turned to Jocelyn. Seriously? Just ’okay’? Won’t she ask her to stay back or apologize for her rude words? Was Jocelyn this hellbent to frustrated her with his she felt?

"Lyn?"

Jocelyn sat up on the couch, "Go, go get some fresh air. You need it. And be quick, it’s about to rain," She said softly as if Arissa did not just overreact.

Arissa clenched her phone tight. She stared at Jocelyn and then back at Adele before strolling out of the ward.

Jocelyn’s words never left her mind while she strolled down to the elevator and for that reason, she did not notice the look on the nurse’s face.

Arissa got to the elevator. But before she would press its button, it opened by itself and someone walked out of it.
