Chapter 233: Uncovering Logan.
"You kept her happy as you promised," Collins acknowledged the moment they stepped outside.
The hall was quiet and Nicklaus’s brows shot up when the nurse was no longer at her appointed post. There was something odd about the nurse, he noticed how non-professional she acts the moment he walked in.
He made a mental note to dig into her as soon as possible. Another thing to notice was that this wasn’t the nurse he knew. The lady he met here was different from the one Nathan sent to him as the door post nurse.
He took his mind off the nurse and brought his mind back to Collins. "As I should. She deserves it," Nicklaus replied, "But you failed to keep to your promise,"
Collins paused, "It’s not easy to," he confessed knowing what Nicklaus meant.
Nicklaus met Collins’s eyes with his darker ones. A cold frown masked his face, "Why? In what why can’t you stay away from my wife?" he asked, controlling his almost bursting-out rage.
Collins drew in a low breath. He hates this conversation, and holding it with the husband of the woman he loves and wants to be with has never been on his list to do.
"In every way possible." he started, "She’s someone I loved even before I could understand my feelings. She was my first love, and watching her smile with you and do nothing, don’t you think that alone should be okay with you?" he managed to continue without being a coward.
Nicklaus’s face darkened. He was greatly annoyed by Collins’s words. Was this some expensive joke?
"I can’t promise to kill the feelings so quickly. But for the sake of her happiness, I can promise to stay away. I can’t act hurt around her so she won’t feel_"
"Enough!!" Nicklaus thundered, having had enough of the love speech. It hurt him someone was a step away from waiting for their marriage to be over. Since it was Collins, the feelings disturbed him beyond words.
Collins swallowed at Nicklaus’s quick temper. He chuckled painfully, "You don’t have to be scared, I’m not comparable with you for her. You have already shown her how it feels to be loved by who she least expects it from and that was something I never did. By the way, you changed the hot-tempered lady into a more loving one in just a short while with the support you show her," he nodded at Nicklaus, "I’m sorry for whatever disrespect my words caused,"
Nicklaus’s face did not brighten even after Collins apologized. The man has a good talent when it comes to getting on his nerves.
He walked away towards the elevator, "Follow me," he ordered the doctor with a more frosty voice.
With guilt, Collins trailed behind Nicklaus without putting meaning into the way Nicklaus ordered him around. Somehow, he felt he deserves it for his words but at the same time, he can’t control his brutal honesty.

Sarah held Valeria’s gaze, refusing to back down. The mask of dislike covered Sarah’s face. She doesn’t like the way Logan treated this woman and she showed it in her expression without care.
While Sarah scanned Valeria with so much dislike, Valeria held her gaze with curious ones. She was curious to see a girl among Logan’s men.
Logan’s hand on Valeria’s waist tightened and Sarah almost dropped dead. Sarah thought she was just playing with Logan and the feelings would wash off soonest but seeing him hold the lady that way, it was hard to keep on watching.
It was obvious he likes this lady which makes her wonder what he wants to do with Arissa. She dug into Arissa’s life on the internet only to find out that the lady isn’t single.
Ever since she found out that Arissa was married, it left her trying to figure out Logan. He doesn’t seem open, he has hidden motives that she wishes she could undercover.
And just yesterday, the orders he gave out to them were all related to hurting Nicklaus which doesn’t sit well with her. Yes, she admits she wants to hurt Arissa and see her pained and suffering for what Alfred did to her but not how crazy Logan plotted the whole thing.
Valeria took her eyes off Sarah. The girl was acting too sassy for her to admire. Her eyes hurt from staring at her and she doubt they would ever get along.
"Eight years changed you a lot," Valeria whispered to Logan. She was proud of his growth but she felt something darker from his aura.
He no longer seems like the broken preyed-on boy she sneaked food out to. Rather, he now seemed like one who’s set out to make people the prey.
Logan laughed, "What type of change did you notice,"
Sarah’s ears pricked up when she saw their lips moving. She want to know every word they say but too bad she was far away from them due to her jealousy.
She saw Valeria smile over something Logan said and it bothered her that she can’t listen to them so, she fixed her eyes on their lips to read them but as if catching wind of Sarah’s mind, Valeria whispered her next words directly into Logan’s ear.
Hearing what Valeria said, Logan turned to her with a grin. "After you, Milady," he teased her.
Valeria smiled at him before holding Sarah’s gaze for the second time. She smiled at the girl - a harmless one Sarah returned with a glare.
As if the mocking smile at Sarah wasn’t enough for the girl, Valeria requested Logan to carry her and without wasting a second, he lifted her in a bridal style.
An act that earned a chorused hyped, "Oh!!" from his men. Valeria blushed and hid her face in his chest. Logan had been an older brother to her since he saved her from the bullies on the street and all the sexual air between them was fake but she can’t help it.
She loves seeing that unhidden irritation on that teenage-looking girl’s face.
