Chapter 220: His Possession, He Protects.

Nicklaus could tell she was tensed just by feeling her breath and how she sounded. He stroked her back a little more before moving to her head.

He ran his hand through her hair, massaging her scalp tenderly. Arissa shut her eyes, lost in the euphoric feeling of his hand in her hair.

He has been gentle with her for the past few days but each time she meets a new side of his gentleness, her heart drops to the floor from admiration and the butterflies in her stomach increase ten times and fly around rapidly with more energy.

The massage was the greatest feeling ever but Arissa decided not to get too carried away by it. She raised her face and meet his eyes.

Meeting his eyes, she asked. "Would you have been this way to me if we were not married?" she want to believe her heart was simply being sentimental due to the bond and nothing else.

"No," Nicklaus answered straight without hesitation and then he frowned, "What way?" he asked.

Arissa sat up on him, directly on his groin. This made Nicklaus draw in an unconscious sharp breath before fixing a penetrating gaze on her.

Unconscious of her position, Arissa held his gaze, ’If playing with my heart is a game, I guess it’s your favorite,’ she said aloud in her mind.

Holding his gaze, she changed the air between them. While Nicklaus thought she was trying to seduce him, Arissa pondered on his first question.

’How would I love to end all of these? And when? A divorce now? Be fair and keep to the end of the deal?’ she asked herself staring into his eyes.

However, she would have loved to play fair but how about her heart? Her heart was already so weak and to make the situation more complicated, she knew she was beginning to accommodate him into her heart.

At this point in their lives, she refuses to use the word "love" to define her feelings. That word was too heavy but at least, she could use accommodation.

He squeezed himself into her heart with no struggle. Arissa was sure to be on her knees for him soonest if he continues this way.

If he don’t stop, she would go on her knees and beg him to. Again, was this the real him and the arrogant man she met on her first night, and the early days of their marriage a facade, or on that night in his office, was it a reality he said he liked her?

Was he doing all of these to pass his message across?

At first, she was clueless and blind to all romantic feelings that could make you sentimental for the next person but after Collins’s confession, she began to understand a few things.

Her hand reached for his face. Cupping his chiseled jaw in her delicate palm, her chest raised and dropped rapidly with a small part telling her to let go.

But how could she let go of the one question lingering in her mind for the longest moment now? How could she brush off what she heard claiming she heard nothing?

And most importantly, why won’t she want to ask when she wants to hear it from him again? Now she’s sober and alert, she wants to hear him say those words to her.

When her hand cupped Nicklaus’s jaw that way, the man under her saw red, and with more deep breaths of self-control intake, he controlled himself.

In the past, the act of seduction used to be a total turn-off to him. He had always hated women trying to make him touch them but the thought she’s tryna seduce him thrilled him. Especially when those peach-pink pouty lips kept on parting and swallowing.

"Nicklaus," she whispered.

Nicklaus met her eyes when she called his name so soberly. He immediately became alert. She sounded like she might cry anytime soon if what she wants won’t be given.

"Arissa?" he answered.

Her hand on his jaw traced his whole facial features even up to the length of his long lashes, "Can I ask something... annoying, weird, and unquestionably stupid?" she rubbed his chest, and when she did that, he drew in a long sharp breath of sexual pain.

Finally, Arissa realized their position. Her face turned red with embarrassment. Kissing the floor firmly with her feet, she proceeded to climb down.

"I understand why you are worried. Do you feel I would disappear when we do?" Nicklaus spoke up in a pained voice before she could climb down his body and thus, she unconsciously went back to her previous position.

"No," she answered.

He was asking about their divorce. Yes, they ought to leave each other’s life the moment this was over but she don’t want that. And yes she was more than worried about their divorce for reasons best known to her but that could wait.

Nicklaus felt uncomfortable by their position. He could already feel himself growing, it felt uncomfortable and tightly painful. He wonders where his self-control went, no woman had ever made him this sexually tensed but she does it effortlessly - a million times.

"Then what is it that should be tagged unquestionably stupid by you?" he shut his eyes to hide his lust.

Arissa mentally prepared herself. Nicklaus pulls off different vibes in seconds and she hopes she doesn’t meet with his snubbing arrogant side when she asks this.

"After this?" she paused, "I mean after us, would you get married for love or power?" she asked, rephrasing her words at the last moment. Asking him if he likes her would make no sense. She would just look like a fool if she does but from this day, she would pay attention to his act.

Nicklaus froze under her without blinking. "Love or power?" the question caught him off guard as that wasn’t what he expected.

After this? There would be no after this. In case she doesn’t know, she belongs to him and his possessions, he protects her. He never let go and he won’t break that for her.

Nicklaus was sure of making her fall for him. He was all addicted to her and if addiction means love then he loves her but if addiction doesn’t equal love, she should be prepared because they must make it work.

She goes nowhere.

Arissa nodded, "Yes, Love or Power?"

Nicklaus relaxed, placing both hands underneath his head as a pillow, watching her. "Why the question?"

"I want to know," Arissa answered, her gaze not leaving his eyes, "Nick_"

"I choose power," he cut her off, "Love is a distraction, a term used by the weak to cover up their shortcomings," he chuckled, "Don’t be deceived if I say I love you. That isn’t an easy feeling,"

He told her all he would have said once ago about that term until he met her. Right now, his whole view on love has changed but he rather not say.

He better hold on to the lesson experience thought him from an early age.

Arissa looked away from his eyes. She was pulled into deep thinking by his words. Even though he hid it well, he sounded deep, hurt, experienced, and angry.

She felt all he felt and it made her uncomfortable.

Arissa tried to stop the question but she couldn’t. So, she went on. "Does this mean you would never tell a woman you love her,"

Nicklaus bit his lower lips, "I won’t. I never would," this time, he was back in time. Even the woman before him would never hear those words leave his lips. Like was already too much and he can’t add love to his heartache.

Arissa’s heart drooped, "Why never? Who hurt you this way?" she can’t believe she would be so interested in his love life.

Nicklaus laughed, "Curious kitten," he pinched her cheeks, "Why all these questions? Do you love me?" he joked trying to brush this sensitive topic away.

Arissa glared at him, "You wish," she countered with a hump. She know he doesn’t mean those words but they were enough to spark reactions in her.

Nicklaus winked at her, "Then don’t ask,"

Arissa’s curiosity turned into frustration. He looked visibly hurt and how was he still able to joke about it? Where did his detached and aloof self go? She loves that side of him more than this side where he jokes carelessly.

She placed a hand on his left chest, "How deep was the cut?" she asked staring at his chest as if staring at his heart.

Nicklaus’s mind darkened and so did his expression. All in a split second, just by that touch and question. "Arissa don’t!" he warned her with a growl. His heartbeat quickened. The topic was beginning to go deeper than expected.

Why did she even bring it up in the first place?

Arissa jolted, startled by his switch in tunes. She withdrew her hand from his chest and stared into his dark eyes that were now dangerously shades darker.

Suddenly, Nicklaus held her hips at her both sides and something poked her under from him. Precisely a little hard huge rock, long, vein, and a thick man covered with his pants.

She blushed, "Nicklaus, what are you doing?" she asked, holding her hands on her waist to pull them off but was unable to.

Arissa was tempted to grind her hips against his arousal but she kept still. Her sense was still aware of her surrounding

Nicklaus stared into her brown eyes without saying anything. A second passed, and another followed, accompanying his silence.

Without warning, he roughly changed their position. Arissa’s eyes widened when she found herself under him, trapped in his arms with an evil light moving back and forth his both eyes.

She stilled, wasn’t he mad at her a few seconds ds ago? And how did she not realize he was already so hard when she sat on him?

Also, Adele might be up from the breathless noises she was sure her lips would give out. Nicklaus’s jaw flexed for a minute, and turning to the bed, he started at Adele for a long while before he face Arissa with a not-so-pleased look which got her confused again.

She got curious, "Are you alright?" she asked.

Without her permission, Nicklaus reached for her inner shirt under her blazer and began to unhook it. He made these moves without staring at her.

As if he was being controlled, darkness began to cover him. Arissa gasped when his fingers undid her first button.

"Nick, stop,"

Nicklaus did not listen - no, he tried to but he couldn’t. His demons seemed to be back and this time, more powerful, they crawled up again and controlled him.

Whenever these bad memories visit him, high to this level he can’t control, he usually had sex, hardcore tortured sex to wash them off.

A hooker usually does the job. He doesn’t want to hurt the woman under him but that was impossible, he want no other woman except her.

A light scream tore off Arissa’s lips. He had just ripped her shirt open with the bottons shattering around. Her eyes turned wide and before she would react to that, he swiftly took off his belt.

"Turn over," he ordered her with a dark voice.
