"Do you love him?" Jocelyn brought the topic up with a calm voice when they settled down on the couch in the ward.

Arissa turned to her, her eyes wide like Jocelyn suddenly grew two horns, "What kind of question is that?"

Jocelyn sensed the nervousness in Arissa’s voice but she brushed it off, she want to get to the bottom of all this. "Do you love him?" she asked in a firm voice, her fists fixed under her chin.

Arissa turned away from her and face the door Nicklaus walked out from earlier, "I don’t love him," she lied to herself, "I don’t." she repeated, eyes still fixed on the door.

"I think you do," Jocelyn opposed.

Arissa faced her in shock. "Why would you assume such?" she asked, with both curiosity and fright. Maybe, Jocelyn might figure her out and it frightened her.

Jocelyn relaxed on the couch’s backrest, "I’d tell you what I think," she said in a thoughtful voice.

Arisaa agreed, her whole inside curious, "Okay,"

Jocelyn cleared her throat, "This is what I think. I think you love Nicklaus but are still blind to your feelings_"

"What!" Arissa cut her off.

’Okay now, why did I cut her off?’ Arissa thought over her exaggerated act. Her denial was getting the best of her.

"Shhuu," Jocelyn signaled her to keep calm, "Let me finish. I think the feelings have been around the first night you guys hooked up,"

"What?" Arissa stuttered in disbelief, "No, no, no, no. That would be reckless and impractical and I’m not that type of human," she said.

Jocelyn raised a brow at her. "So now you admit being in love with him,"

Arissa glared at her, "I never said that. Don’t force words into my mouth," she cautioned.

"We know, your words explained that and not me. You loved him ever since and that was the reason why you freaked out when his father talked about divorce. You also dislike Raquel at first sight," Jocelyn listed.

"No_ Wait, I don’t dislike Raquel, I simply hate how she acts around him and also, his father has no right to decide on our divorce," Arissa explained.

Jocelyn clapped, "Exactly. Because you are in love, congrats on your first love," she said in triumph.

Arissa frowned, "Don’t make me think I’m a woman in love. Even if I felt like Nicklaus and I were.... no, no, no. Nicklaus is not interested in me like that," her expression softened and her voice turned a whisper, "He would have me know_" she trailed off, remembering the last night she got drunk, she almost admitted he once said it.

But was her memory right or it was all a hallucination she reoccurred?

Jocelyn placed a hand on her shoulder, "Don’t freak out, all you have to do is to take a chance," she advised.

"No," Arissa refused. "You know me better, I don’t take chances. I appreciate him and do not love him. This isn’t love, I’m not in love with him,"

She went on, "I can’t be in love with him. He seems to be someone who would get bored soon and I can’t take chances with him. I have to keep my heart safe," she almost freaked out as sweat streamed down her face in the highly ventilated ward.

"Arissa breath," Jocelyn advised. "Don’t be too worked up, take this first into consideration and work on how you feel,"

"Nicklaus and I?"

Jocelyn nodded, "Yes. You and Nicklaus are a perfect match. You are both compatible with good energy to support the next person."

"I_"

Arissa was cut off when the door was pulled open and Nicklaus walked in, standing tall and dashing. She fastly blinked away from him to avoid more assumptions from Jocelyn.

Nicklaus’s eyes went to the sleeping figure on the bed and then back to Arissa. He walked to the couch Arissa was seated on and a small frown covered his face when he got closer.

He pressed the back of his palm on her forehead when he stood before her, "What happened?" he asked when he felt her all sweaty.

Arissa did not answer nor did she look up at him. She fixed her eyes on the floor without saying a word, her mind processing her feelings.

Jocelyn stood up. "Let me get something from the canteen," she excused herself.

Nicklaus said nothing for her. His eyes were fixed on Arissa. Not expecting a reply in the first place, Jocelyn left the ward.

Nicklaus sat beside Arissa and pulled him into his arm. He never meant to do it but he wasn’t able to help it.

He tried comforting her and this was the first way his instinct offered. Thus, he pulled her into a side hug, wrapping her protectively, he kissed the center of her head over and over again.

Feeling stable, thanks to the hug and kisses, Arissa decided to part her lips. "Nicklaus," she called, pulling her head away from his chest.

"Go on," Nicklaus told her, seeing her eyes filled with words.

Arissa snuggled into his arm and also, wrapped her hands around him, "Can we stay this way for a short while without saying a word?" she pleaded.

Nicklaus kissed her neckline and drew her in without a word. Slowly, he made them comfortable on the couch in a laying position with Arissa on him.

His hand stroked her back, "How would you love to end all of these?" his curious mind let out through his lips, forgetting her request.

"Nicklaus, no words for just a minute, please." she pleaded softly. His heartbeat was comfort to her and with everything going on now, she needed the soft sound his heart provided.

She felt more storm away. A greater one.

Adele was awake, all was supposed to be over. But why does she feel like all of these were far from being over?
