His Toxic Addiction
Chapter 215: Adele Is Awake.

Chapter 215: Adele Is Awake.

Arissa answered the call the moment she successfully closed the door behind her. A smile that could hurt ones cheeks covered her face when she saw it was already 9am.

She had never slept this long unless drunk and for this reason, she would want Nicklaus on her bed every night to wake up to him every morning until they become divorced.

He gave her the kind of inner peace she never figured she had been missing out on until this morning.

"Arissa!" Jocelyn voice sounded from the phone, urgently, pushing Arissa off her train of thoughts.

Arissa blinked. "Lyn? Did something happen?" she asked curiously. Jocelyn voice sounded a little too urgent that it gave her some wired feeling down her lower abdomen.

"Adele_"

"Adele what?" Arissa cut her off. Right at that moment, Arissa felt dead and any bad new would lead to her burial. The phone in her hand shock due to how scard she became.

Jocelyn took in a deep breath from the other end. "Adele just opened her eyes," she dropped the surprising news in a low grateful voice added with a happy giggle.

Arissa stilled, speechless.

Jocelyn raised an eyebrow when Arissa said nothing in response to the new she gave to her. "Arissa?" she called.

No response.

"Arissa?"

Arissa lashes trembled and she returned back to reality. "Yes, can I talk to her? Do she remember me? Is she alright?" she questioned breathlessly.

Jocelyn sighed. "Collins replacement is examining her," she informed. She could imagine Arissa feelings.

All of what had happened broke her friend a lot so this piece of good new might be too overwhelming for her to stomach.

"Are you alright?" she asked.

Arissa laughed," I am," she chocked at the end. Her tears threatened to spill.

"You can’t talk to her until she is all through examined. I have to go right now but come as fast as you can. I love you." she said in an high spirit before ending the call.

Arissa stared at the phone she held in shoke.

She battled in vain to control her trembling hands. Her heartbeat fastened. So fast that Arissa feared she might have an heart attack soon.

However, the call was too good to be true. Too good to be real. It sounded and felt surreal to her. Her feet stopped, glued to the floor, unable to shake not to talk about moving.

Though she always woke up to hearing a new as beautiful as this, hearing it left her with unexplainable waves of emotions.

The type of happiness that leaves one speechlessly densed was what Arissa felt at the moment after the call. Her hand went to her door knob to open the door.

Tear left her eyes.

Finally!

Finally, none of her sacrifices and efforts went to vain. Everything finally worked out and fell into places. Her fears and doubts were also gone. The what ifs also disappeared from her mind.

She tried to appear strong as she always was and had always been looked up as. She alone knew how she crumbled alone, alone in her bed or under the shower and also when socked inside her scented baths.

What if Adele doesn’t make it? What if my marriage would just be in vain? What if Jocelyn sacrifices, all she had to give up to be with Adele all day long goes to vain? What if my parents gets to Adele first? What if i’m incapable of keeping her safe? What if, what if and what if?

These were the questions that do crowed her mind and leaves her sceard until she forgets how living felt like.

She almost gave up on everyone. When she learnt of Mr. Adams two sided agenda, the what ifs increased but now, all these what ifs also disappeared.

Fuck her parents, fuck Mr. Adam and the rest of them. Just as Mrs. Wyatt have said, not having immediate justice doesn’t mean they won’t get one. She would work on getting justice for all of those her parents have trempled on, including Adele and she would not let her mind stop her heart from moving while doing so.

She took her hand off her door knob to dry her tears but that wasn’t working as the happy tears kept on leaving her eyes.

Her palm clutch her lips to stop her from letting out audible crying sounds. She lifted her face to the hallway ceiling and let her tears flow freely.

"Adele is awake," she muttered, letting out happy chuckles admits her tears.

Meanwhile....

Back in the room, Nicklaus was beginning to get uneasy with how long she was taking to reply to a call.

A frown marred his face as he sat up on the bed and stared at the door. It might be Collins. The way she demanded privacy gave him such hunch.

He had seen that look in her eyes once when she was having lunch with Collins and he had interrupted. Was Collins still romantically linked with her?

He gritted his jaw as unknown wave of sad emotions filled his heart, making him jump into conclusion. His eyes darted back to the wall clock again.

Half an hour already and she wasn’t back. His impatience turned to worry. What was the call all about that kept her out for so long? Her parents? An enemy?

Not wasting a second, he put on his sleeping footwear and matched towards the door. Turning the door knob, he opened the door and before Arissa would brace herself or any one of them would see it coming, she came crashing into his arms from her back.

His protective instinct rushed forth and his arms held her well, stopping her from falling. He helped her to stand straight in his arms. Arissa turned to him in shock, her eyes widened by the incident that just occurred.

She had forgotten he was in the room and that made her able to rest her back on the door that way. Her lips parted to say something by she shut them back and stared into his eyes.

Nicklaus face darkened. "Who called you?" his voice was no longer soft and welcoming but now cold like she was a stranger.

It caused Arissa to roll her eyes. He was playful when she left the room. What happened now for his mood to be this dark? What was wrong with him - no, what was wrong with them? She could also remember how she overreacted a while ago from his joke.

Right now, she don’t even know why he looked so furious. And what’s with his question? Did he find something illegal to their marriage on her?

His eyes left her gaze and fell on her tears. "Who called you and why are you crying?" he asked again. This time his voice softer as his thumb lifted to her face and wiped the tears off her cheeks.

Arissa blinked at him. "Jocelyn," she replied his first question as she lifted her hand to her face and placed on his thumb.

He melted her heart. When he pull acts like this, he would always melt her heart without remedy. She thought her heart was strong and no man would ever be able do something about it unless she lets him but right now, Nickkaus was melting her frost heart without her letting him.

She gulped at her thoughts. What ever his mission was for treating her this way, he might accomplish it soon.

Nicklaus took his eyes off her tears and stared into her eyes. "What happened there?"

Arissa chuckled, another tears escaped her eyes at the same time which left Nicklaus confused. She cried again because he cared.

He wasn’t merely asking, she could see care deep down his eyes. Taking her tears away, Nicklaus patiently waited for a reply from her.

She stood on her toe and seized his lips with hers. Wrapping her arm around his neck, she deepened the kiss.

Nicklaus took his hand off her face and wrapped it around her midriff and kissed her with the same tender passion.

Arissa felt like the kiss was their first kiss, and she also felt like it might be their last. It would be bizarre of her to say this but she no longer wish to divorce this man anytime soon.

Adele was no longer in a coma which means she could leave the country as he had permitted or further still request for a divorce as nothing holds her back anymore.

Yet, her heart and everything she was made up off doesn’t want to. Their tounge played and teased each other which made them both smile.

Nicklaus parted the kiss and pressed his forehead on hers. "What good deed have I done this time around?" he asked, their gaze colliding.

He thought she had cried out of sadness but the kiss says otherwise. She was happy from her inside and he wondered what he had done to deserve such happy kiss from her.

"A lot," she eyed his lips, "I would have loved us to spend the morning alone,"

Nicklaus was surprised at her wish. He stayed quiet and listened patiently.

Arissa met his eyes. "But we can’t," she finished which left Nicklaus surprised.

"We can. I have lesser work today," he told her.

Arissa smiled at him. His words and readiness was so appealing and he did well to leave her stunned for a moment.

Regaining her voice, she rubbed her hand on his neck. "Not work actually, I mean you are the CEO," she teased him.

Nicklaus grinned and pulled her closer.

Pushing temptations aside, she continued. "I want you to meet someone," she paused for a moment, "as a husband,"
