Chapter 209: His Superpowers.

Chapter 209: His Superpowers.

Arissa clenched his shirt tightly from little fear. He wasn’t replying and she feared she would go to bed again and rest on with nightmares until dawn.

He might not be able to do much. She knows he has no superpowers for taking her nightmares away but something in her believes he could and the side of her that believed bargained deal with her doubting side.

"Nicklaus," she whispered his name, "I just want a few minutes of your time," she told him.

Nicklaus stared down at her. She demanded a few minutes with him, but what she don’t know was if she would let him in, he would love a lifetime with her.

He leaned closer to her face. Her lips parted on their own accord and a tingling sensation washed over her. His face came closer and as evidence of how intimate their faces were, his hot breath began to fan her face.

Arissa shut her eyes in expectation for his lips to seal hers. Adding to one more shocker of the day, rather than feeling his lips on her lips she felt his lips on her closed eyelids.

It wasn’t a rushed kiss, he kissed both of her eyelids and placed the third one on the crown of her head. His actions left her heart trembling. She felt nothing lustful from the kisses.

Surprisingly, all she felt was care and comfort. The raw feeling in her heart towards him blossomed the more. Her body tensed up when the feeling rushed through her.

Nicklaus pulled her in protectively and buried his nose in the niche of her neck. "Don’t be all tensed, the nightmare is gone and you are back to reality,"

Her nightmare troubled him. Once when he was in her room, he experienced how she struggled from her sleep, and now again she had another nightmare.

"I_" Arissa was cut off by a crumbling sound from her stomach.

Nicklaus chuckled on her neck. "What was that sound?" He pulled away from her neck and gazed into her eyes.

Arissa looked away from him as her face was covered with embarrassment. Nicklaus cupped her face with his hand and made her look at him.

Feeling the skin-to-skin contact, Arissa’s heartbeat fastened once again. She raised both hands to wrap around his neck, before sealing their lips together.

Nicklaus froze but did not kiss back. He just held her to himself and let her kiss him. Subconsciously, Arissa was bothered by why he wasn’t kissing back.

She massaged his scalp with her fingers and when she tried to insert her tongue into his hot chocolate-scented mouth, Nicklaus pulled away.

Arissa swallowed when he pulled away. He parted the kiss abruptly which would have left her feeling bad if not for the assurance she felt from how he held her securely and that last night smirk which had returned to his face again.

He released her waist. "We should do this after dinner," he told her which caused funny feelings between her thighs.

Arissa smiled at him with the same mischievous aura in her. "Would you spend the night with me?" she asked him again.

Nicklaus flashed her a ghost smile. That question was meant to be innocent but not anymore. Right now, his mind thought naughty. "Depends,"

Arissa raised a brow at him, "Depends on what?"

Nicklaus placed both hands between his back and held them together. Making him appear like a perfect gentleman before her.

"Depends on what I’d be spending the night on. Your bed? Or the Duvets?"

Arissa sulked as if cheated on.

Nicklaus smiled having read her answer from her expression. "You must be kidding. There’s nothing wrong if we share a bed, neither would it send one of us to an early grave," he winked at her.

Arissa glared at him. Parting her lips to reply to him, her stomach grumbled again as it shut her off her intended words.

Nicklaus’s expression turned serious and his playful smirk wiped off. "Let’s talk over dinner," without waiting for a second more, he held her hand and led her out of the nursery.

Arissa stared at his hand on her wrist. It was meant to be just a glance on their hold but that was until she caught sight of another shaded color other than the black wing ink there.

Her feet halted first and a small frown marred her face. Nicklaus’s feet paused when she stopped walking.

"Arissa?"

"Your hand." she caught a full glimpse of the shaded burn on his skin. There was a surprised look on Nicklaus’s face when she said that.

Closing the distance between them, she took the burned palm into her hold and scanned his slightly burnt skin, "How did you get burnt?" her voice was highly concerned.

Nicklaus’s heart melted. Not just with her voice or how she sounded, but because of her actions. Right now, she rubbed on his skin softly with her thumb, occasionally blowing on it as the accident occurred now.

He could only stare at her, speechless.

"What have you rubbed on this?" she asked still examining his hurt hand.

Nicklaus sighed. "Nothing, it skipped my memory,"

"I have an ointment in my room," she looked up at him, "Your food has already been microwaved before my short slumber. You should go to the dining now," she instructed him.

"You want to get the ointment?" he asked her.

She nodded unaware of the signs she was sending to him. Nicklaus shut his eyes, this was the real definition of torture.

All that she was doing currently makes his heart thump louder with the certainty that they would be a figure one day and at the same time told him otherwise.

It was obvious to him she haven’t realized what she was doing yet. It might be just her way of caring and if this is her way, he doesn’t want her caring for other men.

Nicklaus doesn’t want any man to misinterpret her actions just as he was doing. He should be the only one receiving this amount of care and affection from her.

"Let’s eat first," he said, his voice sounding like an appeal.

"Go on, I’d catch up with you_"

"Let’s eat first," he cut her off, "The burn isn’t so bad and can heal without the ointment. It’s getting late, let’s have dinner before other issues,"
