Chapter 188: Nothing More, Nothing Less.
Chapter 188: Nothing More, Nothing Less.
Arissa walked down the staircase listening to the piano being played. Since she arrived here, that piano hasn’t been touched.
Seeing Nicklaus playing, she paused for a moment and focused on his back. He was playing the piano so beautifully but something was wrong with the sound. The sound gave her thorny emotions.
It was sad....sad and also sounded like he was trying to relate some dark emotions through the sound. Was he alright? She thought concerned.
Going into the kitchen, she prepared herself a cup of tasty coffee. She thought of making him one but immediately kicked against it.
She doesn’t want him to take things she does to the heart. His question last night was inconsequential to her but she was still the same person who went to bed thinking about it.
She walked closer to him with her coffee mug softly in her grip. Getting to him, she placed her coffee mug on the piano lid before offering him a sweet morning smile.
"Good morning," she greeted and with a lean-in, she planted a soft kiss on his cheek.
Nicklaus’s hands playing the piano did not stop nor did he look at her. He just continued what he was doing as if she wasn’t before him.
Arissa stood straight before picking up her coffee mug. Blowing it cold with her lips, she stared down at his fingers.
"That sounds so sad," she commented still looking at his fingers. She loved the sound but it wasn’t pleasing to the ear. It could make a weakling tear up.
Nicklaus still did not reply to her but stared far off into the city from the glass wall before him. Arissa thinned her lips confused why he kept on ignoring her.
Wasn’t it the deal to act as real couples? And isn’t this how they act, supportive of each other? Or they don’t give the next person a good morning kiss?
It bothered her that he wasn’t just ignoring her, his face was back to frosty and unwelcoming, back to when she first meet him. Did someone offend him before she came downstairs?
Giving him his space, she just stood there and drank her coffee. He played a few more keys and by the time her coffee got finished without Nicklaus glancing her way, her brow turned questioning. Or could she be the one who offended him?
Thinking back, she refused to accept that because they haven’t met today until now. She even thought he had gone to the office while coming downstairs but seeing him here, she just did her end of the deal. Nothing more, nothing less.
Stepping closer to him, she drank in his juicy appearance, "Nicklaus," she broke the silence, dropping her coffee mug on the piano lid.
Hearing his name, he faced her with a hard glare, "What do you want?" his fingers on the keyboard paused for a moment.
Arissa frowned. What’s with his frosty cold tune? Were they strangers? Why that question?
She sat on the little space left on the piano bench and as if a skin to skin contact with her would kill him, he harshly stood up from the bench.
"Nicklaus.." She breathed his name out in surprise, "Did something happen between us?" she asked, her eyes looking up at him covered in amazement.
His action right now hurt her. Unknown to her, could it be that she stinks or was there a disease in her he alone knows about?
Nicklaus turned away from her. Starting at her was like hurting himself as her words last night kept on replaying in his memory, ruthlessly tearing his insides open.
His heart stuttered. She was highly intensive to his feelings but she wants him to be sensitive to hers. From this moment, he no longer cares how he makes her feel. She could feel broken by his actions for all he cares.
Her feelings are now left for her to control, he would do nothing to make her feel better when she’s down. Only special people do that for the next person.
Arissa blinked all ignorant of what was going on with him. Her mind wandered between last night and now, the drastic changes in them startled her.
He was all warm, loving, and gentle last night, or... did he pull up those acts because he wanted to fuck her? And then he got annoyed because she said no.
If that, it wasn’t his right to get annoyed. They both agreed to it that the only feeling between them would be lust alone. She understands it if she has to pleasure him but doesn’t she have a say between them?
"Nicklaus, are you mad concerning last night?" she confronted him. She refused to believe he was acting this way because she refused him a pussy.
He said it was alright last night, he can’t be so immature to sulk over it now, can he? There was no reason for him to even sulk over her.
’It’s not like I’m special to him.’ she thought randomly.
Hearing her words, Nicklaus stiffened, the air between them tightened as it turned strangled. Arissa’s eyes widened feeling all these changes. Was she right? So she was right? He was acting this way for a pussy?
She refused to believe her reasoning and with calm strides, she walked toward him, "Am I right? Your attitude lately, does it concerns last night?" her voice was soft as she tried to figure him out.
About to place a hand on his shoulder from behind, she was offered another surprise of the morning, Nicklaus jerked away from her touch. Arissa’s lips parted and she blinked in obvious discomfort. He also wanted no psychical contact with her.
His actions caused a heavy pang in her heart as she found it hard to breathe. She took two steps away and just stared at him.
Nicklaus also took three steps away from her as he also kept his distance. She affects him in everything she does and he doesn’t want to repeat history with his father.
Not yet and not ever.
Without solidifying her thinking or giving her reasons to doubt them, he gave her one last glance before walking away from her.
Arissa stood rooted, dazed as she tried to breathe. She pinched herself hard and that was when she believed what just happened here was real life and not a dream.
