Chapter 175: Top Crime Documents.
Chapter 175: Top Crime Documents.
Nicklaus eventually made it out of the house after hours of struggling to leave. He thought he would be safe after driving out of the yard.
But surprisingly, he was still intoxicated by her and all he wanted to do was go back to the house and wrap her warmly into his arms.
"Stupid Geal," He ended up cursing at Geal.
He did not have sex with her because of Geal’s assurance but after having sex with her, he expected Geal’s words to happen but nothing came forth.
If there was any difference, it was the fact that the burning desires he has for her only worsened but right now, he has to ignore his desires and focus on the task at hand.
He stepped on the accelerator and speed off. A few minutes later, he arrived at one of his manors in the city. This specific one was where he held Mr. Adam and treated Theodore.
Riding into the garage, he climbed down from the car and headed straight to the basement. There, he saw a few of his bodyguards and with a nod to their greetings, he walked into the already-opened base.
The moment he stood before his ’guest’, his men took the blind folder of Mr. Adams’s eyes and the man could only glare at the figure before him.
Nicklaus said nothing as he just scorned the older man before him and made himself at home - well, it was his home.
Sitting on the gray couch provided in the well-cleaned and furnished basement, Nicklaus freed himself from his tie before running his fingers through his hair with a low sigh.
’Arissa, please let me concentrate,’ he begged her in his mind as if she was before him. He couldn’t even think straight anymore.
Did she kiss him with some charms last night?
Mr. Adams suddenly let out a chuckle which made Nicklaus fix his dark eyes on him.
"And here I was, thinking it was Logan who got me," Mr. Adams said casually as if Nicklaus was a long-time friend, while he rubbed his tired eyes, "I have to say, you are very generous,"
Looking around the place for the first time, Mr. Adams could not help but smile. The place looked generously equipped for a prisoner.
He thought Logan caught him first, he never expected Nicklaus to be the one who abuted him that night. But what for?
His clothes were already changed and only his legs were tied. The fact he did not realize it made him wonder how long the poison took him out.
"How is Arissa?" he continued but this time, his voice held caution because the gentlemanly vibe he felt from Nicklaus was beginning to fade the moment he called Arissa.
His left brow immediately tiled upward, "Did something bad happen to her?" he asked again with a panicked voice when Nicklaus did not reply to his first question and just stared at him with dead eyes as if figuring his soul out.
"Just as you expected?" Nicklaus threw a question at him rather than replying.
Mr. Adams frowned, "I never wanted her dead. If that is why I’m here, you got the wrong person," he clarified immediately.
Nicklaus smiled with a calm expression. His expression was too calm and it made Mr. Adams take in cautioned breaths.
In the next second, the smile washed away which made Mr. Adams reason if he had just imagined that smile. He never took the Wyatt boy for someone this sinister.
Nicklaus sat up, "So, what happened with the wrong address you gave to her? Wasn’t that to end her so you don’t have an issue when it’s time to have the company and wealth?"
Nicklaus’s voice carried a challenge as if daring Mr. Adams to lie to his face.
Mr. Adams shook his head, "You are getting this all wrong," he victimized, "I have always wanted to protect her_ and what wrong address are you talking about?" his last words carried surprise in them.
Nicklaus clenched his jaw at Mr. Adams act. With a tight expression, he spoke, "Concerning Theodore," at these two words, Mr. Adams took in a shaky breath.
He never had this insight that Nicklaus would know about Theodore. No one knows about that man, not even the man’s wife.
"I never gave her the wrong address. That was the address I saw in Mr. Adams’s crime files and on that day, I persuaded her to let me come with her but she_" he trailed off, "You have Theodore," Mr. Adams declared in shook like an eye-opener after taking a closer look at Nicklaus expression.
"..You have Theodore," he repeated as he tried to stand up from his seat but the binds on his feet stopped him.
While he was expressing how shocked he was, Nicklaus was just looking at him like some bored entertainment.
He grabbed a line of what Mr. Adams was saying. The man talked about wanting to go with Arissa to where she was almost killed but he couldn’t believe him - at least not yet.
Nicklaus turned over to Daniel and with a nod, he beakoned the man to come. Nicklaus stood up the moment Daniel was before him and with a lean in, he whispered into his ears, "Get me his call history from that day,"
Daniel nodded and walked out of the basement. It was just a five seconds encounter between them but with Mr. Adams’s highlighted sense in the world of crime, he understood they had just discussed him even though they never looked his way.
Nicklaus’s sharp eyes landed on Mr. Adams again, "Where are the top crime documents?"
"Top crime documents?" Mr. Adams repeated and at that moment, he realized something. Nicklaus seems to be doing this for Arissa but, why would he?
He took in a deep breath. He was glad Theodore was safe and Arissa had someone with her. It wa sad he had to stay away but he never stayed away from her on purpose, he did that so Logan doesn’t look her way for his transfer of agression which was bound to happen sooner or later.
And that was why he stayed away while he arranged his plot. That way, he would have gotten Logan away from Arissa but, here he was.
