Chapter 160: Love Conquers All.

Raquel was about snapping at the person who opened her door without a proper knock but when she saw who was standing at her door, her cursing words choked her up.

"Mom,"

"Raquel," her mother opened the door wide, "Can I come in?" she asked for permission.

Raquel sat up on her bed with a forced nod. Hannah gave her a harmless smile before proceeding further into the room.

Standing before her daughter’s bed, she questioned, "You skipped dinner, why?" she scanned the room to see if there was any obvious reason that might have caused her to skip dinner.

"Why are you asking?" Raquel asked in a fussy tune, "It’s not like you care if I’m happy or not," she laid down back on her bed.

Hannah’s brows raised voluntarily at her daughter’s insolent tune. She went closer to the bed and sat at Raquel’s leg side, "Dear, did I do something wrong?" she asked, her tune careful not to annoy her daughter the more.

Raquel drew her legs to herself to stop her mother from touching them, "Just leave my room,"

Hannah frowned, "Why?"

Raquel scoffed, "Simple, leave my room because it’s my room. Do you want more reasons?" she taunts.

"Dear, what happened tonight? Who knows, I might be able to fix it like I always have. Don’t you think so?" Hannah persuaded her with a smile as she tried to be all jovial.

Raquel let out a thoughtful breath as her eyes lit up. This was what she had been waiting for as she couldn’t wait to get that fool out of her man’s life. Maybe she was the reason, Nicklaus paid her off, who knows?

Immediately, Raquel sat up and went closer to her mother, "Nicklaus is still with that witch, Mother," she complained as her arrogant voice became soft like a whisper, "You promised to do something," she pointed out to her mother.

Hannah turned puzzled hearing her daughter. She couldn’t understand the kind of teenage brain her daughter still has. She had only made that promise to her in the heat of the moment so that her daughter wouldn’t do something out of mental exhaustion and again, there was nothing she or her father could do.

The Wyatt family was far more influential than that might ever be so she doesn’t want to mess with them for the sake of their stance in society.

With her daughter making a fuss out of little things this way, Hannah was speechless as she sometimes doubt that her daughter would clock thirty in the next three years.

For goodness sake, they can’t go against the Wyatt. She can try her luck if Nicklaus’s mum doesn’t like the daughter-in-law but right now, she couldn’t do a thing. Her hands are tied as the media haven’t given any news about the mother-daughter-in-law relationship.

Everyone wants to be on the good side of the Wyatt family and Hannah knows it would cost them a lot if eventually, she annoys them but now the problem she has now was how to make her daughter understand that.

Raquel thinking right from childhood had only been about herself and no one else - not that her parents complained - and Hannah regretted training her daughter this way because it would do them no good, she only saw the dangers of her upbringing now

"Mother," Raquel tucked on her mother’s sleeve like a toddler as she drew her mother off her train of thought, "You promised to do something, why ain’t you saying something?" Raquel panicked and before Hannah would realize it, tears rolled off her daughter’s face, "You_"

"Enough, no tears," Hannah shunned her, "Tears won’t help you,"

Raquel sighed, "And you who could help me, what have you done? I thought you always boast about seeing Nicklaus’s mum personally with no schedule....wait! You do boast of having her contact, what happened to all of those? Can’t they help me, can’t they? I’m sure you enjoy seeing me wail this way," she rants as her tear flowed freely and pitifully.

Hannah kept silent as she listened to her daughter. This was all her fault. If she had just let her daughter be with Edward and not forced her to follow the young men in the business world, her daughter wouldn’t have been this pitiful. How was she sure her daughter wasn’t becoming bitter already?

"Raquel,"

"Don’t touch me," Raquel dodged her mother’s hand stretched towards her, "I need your help and not your touch. Don’t you love me anymore?" she asked her mother backing further away.

"It isn’t as easy as you think it is," she tried to explain but Raquel cut her off.

"So it was a lie," Raquel gasped, "It was all a lie, wasn’t it? You were never close to the Wyatt you just said al_"

"Quiet, Raquel," Hannah shut her up. She took in a deep breath, "Okay, yes. I did lie on that but_"

"No buts, Mother," Raquel resumed her tears and as if she had not heard her mother’s confession, she added, "Just try convincing Mrs. Wyatt. Nicklaus loves his mother so much and she alone would make my dream possible," she drew in a bubble from her nose, "Or don’t you see it? I’m more best to become a Wyatt," she tried to share her reasons with her mum even when she knew it was a lie because in all justification, her woman instinct told her she wouldn’t be able to replace Arissa but with the hope and believe she was in Nicklaus’s heart, she knew she would conquer over that witch.

Love covers all and she believes in her love...no, their love. Her love would wash away all magic that witch used to hold Nicklaus down. She just wait and see but to do that, she needs her mother who wasn’t even helping.

Thinking about the wealth, fame, power, and every other limitless thing she could get from succeeding to standing beside Nicklaus as a wife, her resolve to be with him strengthened.

"Raquel," her mother called softly and Raquel lifted her face to her mother in expectation well, only for it to get broken with her mother’s next line, "You can’t have Nicklaus and I can’t help you. You have to move on with your life. He already has a wife d_"

"SHUT UP!!!" Raquel roared at her mother’s face.

In fright, Hannah stood up from the bed, ’Who is this?’ she thought while looking at her daughter on the bed in shock.

The shout wasn’t all because the next moment, Raquel slammed her lampstand flower vase on the floor. Hannah jolted up as a shred from the broken vase gave her a cut after forcefully landing on the floor.

"Leave my room," Raquel thundered, pointing towards her door. If her mother wouldn’t help her, her determination would. She has already come this far and only cowards back down but since she was no coward, she wasn’t going to back down and would fight to the end until she would be the one Nicklaus would stare at that way.

With a surprised painted face, Hannah left the room in fear for her daughter mental health.
