His Toxic Addiction -
Chapter 154: Who Has Adams?
Chapter 154: Who Has Adams?
Sarah’s grip on her phone tightened as she prayed to all the gods on earth and heaven above to help her. She can’t understand why Mr. Adams’s line was unreachable at this moment she needs him the most.
It all doesn’t make any sense, could it be he changed his line or could he be steps ahead of Logan, or most importantly, was there a new spy in Logan’s men?
All of these questions bombarded her brain, making her unaware of the figure a step behind her until he spoke up.
"Where are my reports?"
Sarah froze before turning towards the source of the voice. Seeing that sinister face, blood drained from her face. She turned conscious as she scanned around him.
"Sarah?" Logan called her, one of his brows raised curiously as he strolled towards her, "Where are my reports?"
Sarah held her clenched knuckles together as she stared at her phone screen hoping Mr. Adams would just call but all that were mere wishes as her screen was blank.
"I_ I do," she trailed off.
Logan looked around in expectation, "Speak, Sarah," he encouraged her with a lethal voice as he watched her shoulders tremble.
"Boss, Mr. Adams isn’t answering," she stammered and took a step back for her life.
Logan smiled prickly, "What did you say?"
"I_ I tried calling him, over and over again but_ his lime wasn’t going through. Trust me_"
She couldn’t complete her word when Logan caught a stronghold of her neck. He gripped it further and slammed her back against the wall behind them, "You can’t contact him?"
Sarah whined, "Ple...please," she held his hand to take it off her neck, "I’m being honest," tears rolled from her eyes.
"Sarah, speak up, where is Adams hiding? Where do you guys meet and how do you contact him?" he howled at her, his grip on her neck tightened.
Sarah choked as she held his wrist hopelessly trying to pull it off as she saw death before she came to take her.
She can’t betray Logan - not after giving up a life to gain his trust, "I swear," she managed to choke out as tears slipped from her eyes.
She parted her lips desperately as she drew in a choked puff, "He_ let me_ let... talk," she pleaded with the last air left in her lung.
Logan’s eyes dimmed and he pressed her into the wall with no thoughts of letting her go, "Where_"
"Boss,"
"Vincent," Logan acknowledged the voice behind him but his grip on Sarah’s neck never loosen.
Vincent walked closer to Logan. His eyes scanned Sarah and his eyes turned a bit frightened. With how pale she have turned, he was sure it was only a matter of seconds before Logan would be tagged her murderer.
Not that he cared if she dies or not, Vincent knew he have to stop Logan. The man always turns senseless when annoyed and would need to be stopped from making rash decisions.
"Boss, we found Adams," he reported.
Logan immediately lets go of Sarah at the mention of Adam. He turned to Vincent and his eyes darkened with suspicion when he took notice of Vincent’s expression - for someone who finally got hold of the smartass Adams, Vincent doesn’t look happy.
"And?"
Vincent took in a deep breath of self-encouragement, "We lost him," he replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
Sarah’s eyes widened in shock and Logan got a hold of his gun, "How did that happen?"
"We don’t know but when we arrived at his location, the house was messed up with blood scent in the air. It’s either someone else has him or he escaped," Vincent mapped out his reasoning for the whole scenario.
Sarah blinked.
Vincent continued, "Mr. Adams might be smart but we were ten steps ahead of him," his gaze turned to Sarah, "I think someone among us leaked out our plan to find him or Alfred first went after him,"
Logan meets Vincent’s fearless eyes, "Where’s Alfred as we speak," he asked with a roaring desire to shoot Vincent for a job poorly done but he knew better than to rule his men that way.
"I ordered Nathan to follow him around,"
Logan nodded.
"That means he has nothing to do with Adams’s dismiss," Vincent told him, and again, his eyes were fixed on Sarah with strong suspicion.
Logan followed Vincent’s eyes and turned to Sarah, "Sarah, what did you do?" Logan roared at her.
"I swear I did nothing. I can’t even call him," she tried to justify her innocence.
Vincent’s jaw tightened, "Boss, we used the number from Laura’s call log to trace him down, and it is the same number Sarah uses. There’s no way he might have dumped that line. Sarah knows something," he pointed out not hiding his mistrust towards Sarah.
Logan nodded in agreement. If there was anyone he listens to other than himself, it was Vincent. "Something she isn’t telling us," he completed Vincent’s words.
"No way," Sarah murmured in fright, "I don’t know anything," she defended herself.
Vincent eyed her in disgust, "Boss, what do we do with her?"
Sarah’s breath turned unstable, "I did nothing, I haven’t contacted him since after the Victor incident," she yelled in defense as her whole hair stood erect due to cold fright
Logan spared her a slight glance, "Take her back to the base," he turned to Vincent, "Let her replace Alfred in the torture room. Do all you could with her until I return,"
A delighted glint flashed through Vincent’s eyes. He bowed slightly and Logan left the abandoned building.
Sarah jumped up, "Logan," she yelled after Logan in horror, "I did nothing, Vincent is at fault here I don’t know anything," she screamed her lung out.
Vincent brought out his gun from his waistband and advertised it to her, "Stand up and move," he ordered her.
This was the best assignment Logan had ever given to him and he would make sure it was all worth his time. In the gang, no one ought to be superior to he was other than Logan and he hated her for not knowing her place. When he’s done with her, she would be beneath even the housekeepers.
