Chapter 152: He Would Be There To Catch Her.

Arissa let out a tired grunt as she stared at her reflection on her wall-sized vanity table in her walk-in closet as she got frustrated.

To hide her hickeys, she used a scarf to cover her neck - which was never her dressing taste but she has to since she have to hide the hickeys to avoid unwanted attention.

The marks were now fully covered unless one takes a closer look at it. Knowing Jocelyn, Arissa does not need to guess what would happen. Her best friend would always scan her appearance to make sure there was nothing amiss and she wouldn’t be safe after then.

If Jocelyn sees these marks, her friend would just kill her as she would imagine the worst scenario. Arissa wasn’t ready for her friend’s dramatic scene, so she has to hide them which she was doing right now but don’t want to wear a scarf around her neck.

Again, it was sunny, and a turtleneck dress code wasn’t advisable. She was so frustrated that she cursed her hormones.

How the hell did she get into this mess not to add, her walking wasn’t still stable even after thirty-two minutes of leaving the gym hall.

Frustrated, she discarded the scarf and arranged for something else to wear.

"He would pay for this," she muttered going through her rows of blazers as she cursed herself for having no self-control. How could she forget they were not supposed to talk, not to take about getting in contact this way?

What happened to her self-control? Where had they all run to when she needed them the most?

Done with covering her hickeys with her outfit, she went back to her wall-sized to scan herself - particularly where he left the hickeys the most.

She frowned when she saw a few of the glaring marks. Having a solution for that, she poured her copper brown, letting them pour over her neck and shoulders, they helped to cover the rest of the hickeys and until then, she relaxed.

She walked out of her closet and picked up her phone and her motorcycle keys but on second thought, she dropped them. Her legs were not back to normal at least until maybe an hour later and since she wasn’t so strong, she decided to lay down a bit and that was when that familiar scent wafted her nostrils.

Her brows squinted into a frown as she turned to her window where the scent lead her to. She was so occupied that she never noticed him.

"Why are you here?" she asked indifferently as she tried to stand still.

Nicklaus’s relaxed on her couch with his intense gaze not leaving her face, "I thought you would stay home," he told her looking at her outfit, "We could spend the day together before I leave," he suggested.

Arissa gave him a stupid look, "I don’t know what you mean by that but no thanks," she simply refused him.

Nicklaus stood up from her couch, "How about an hour?" he bargained not annoyed with her attitude.

Arissa shook her head, "No," she said firmly for him to back down. What’s with that suggestion?

Nicklaus’s soft gaze darkened, "Why?"

"Nothing. I just don’t want to be in the same space with you. At least not now until we formalize our divorce," she said casually, using his words against him.

She was so annoyed with herself right now for what she did last night and this morning. How could she be so irrational, where was her real self?

Nicklaus took in a deep breath when he heard her speak about the divorce again. He immediately sat up and walked toward her, his emotions got darker, not that he noticed, but Arissa did.

She took shaky steps back and Nicklaus halted when she stepped back - not because she did but because of how she stepped back and how she held the table for support.

"Are you okay?" he asked worriedly as his voice became gentle again.

Arissa nodded.

"You sure?"

Arissa gave him another nod and Nicklaus lost it in worry. He charged toward her and firmly caught hold of both of her shoulders, "Tell me where hurts," he coaxed her, and with worry he never knew he had in him, his hold on her shoulders tightened.

"Nicklaus.." Arissa almost whimpered when she could no longer take his tight squeeze, "My shoulders hurt," she said lowly before she wiggled herself out of his hold.

"I’m sorry," Nicklaus immediately let go of her as if scalded. Arissa gave him a soft nod before looking away from him, "I’m okay,"

She doesn’t understand why he got so mad from worry and to be honest, it scared her but at the same time warmed her heart so well that she began to question her sanity.

"You don’t seem okay," Nicklaus countered softly as he refused to believe her, his eyes roamed around her body for any proof of hurt.

Arissa sighed, "I said I’m okay," she swallowed, trying not to let negative emotions off her. He seems genuinely worried about her which left her confused.

"I just feel a little sore down there," she said in a low voice as her face turned red from embarrassment. He promised to be gentle which he was but as the heat went on, they broke restraints as she ordered him to ride her faster which he did and now, she got the consequences.

"Oh! That’s enough reason you should be home," he tucked a strand of her hair behind her eyes with his gaze gentle on her, "If you want, I could call someone over to give you an all-around spa section," he suggested.

Though he was tempted to offer himself to help relieve her pain he refrained from saying that understanding as she won’t be needing some home service unskilled hands for help.

Arissa frowned at him, "Thanks for your offer," she tucked his hand off her face. His offer was tempting but she don’t want it indoors.

She would have stayed home today or at least for two hours but she have to step out. Though she was on her safe week, she can’t take the risks.

She has to get some flushing pills from a pharmacy so she doesn’t regret this morning further than this. She can’t bring a child into this world to make the child feel unloved and unsafe.

She was already sure about being the worst mother on earth and with a loveless marriage added to the list, she would rather have her system flushed until she find someone she loves, someone who would teach her how to love a child before she accept a baby into her womb.

Maybe, just maybe her mother treated her the way she treated her because she was in a contract marriage but if maybe she could get married to someone she loved, she might have been a better mum, right?

So, not desiring to make the same mistake her mother made with her, she would just take precautions now to be on the safer side and for world peace.

"You_"

She cut him off, "I think we should heed out. That would be best,"

"You are not strong to heed out now. I’d calll_"

"No, Nick," she desperately held both sides of his face. Why can’t he listen to her? She can’t waste much time. She has to get her system flushed.

Since his men no longer follow her around after their argument that day, they won’t be there to ride her to the hospital as she even warned the one sticking around to stop. She also won’t be able to ride her motorcycle.

In one word, she needs his help and she could use his offer to get what she wants.

Nicklaus looked into her eyes as he searched her gaze, looking for her true intention, "I_"

Arissa cut him off again but this time with a quick kiss, "No need calling someone over. It’s not something so serious but if you want me massaged, then I suggest we heed out," she told him with her thumb on his lips. Nicklaus’s left brow squawked as he wrapped his hand around her lithe waist, "You can’t walk properly," he reminded her.

"That doesn’t mean you won’t be there to catch me if I fall," she winked at him and pulled herself into him.

Nicklaus gulped when he felt the outlines of her curves. She had just boasted his ego but he knew better than to take her words for mere words as he had a growing feeling that she was up to something, something not pleasing.

However, he decided to play along and with a slight lean in, he attempted to seize her lips but she backed away. A tortured grunt escaped his chest as he pulled her into himself.

Taking her unaware, he got a hold of her head and kissed her lungs out.
