Chapter 133: Exceptionally so beautiful and calming.

Nicklaus who was still baffled by what he did in the car was star-struck when the first thing he saw after stepping into his house was the lady who had made him restless throughout the day.

She was going back to her room with what seemed like a cup of coffee in her hand. His brows creased when he noticed she was holding onto the staircase railings for support.

With worried brows, he glanced at his wristwatch. She was meant to be asleep and not to take some cup of coffee back to her room.

And why was she walking that way as if she was counting her steps? He took a step forward but paused the moment he remembered what he said to her last night.

His brows tightened as he had no other choice than to hopelessly stand at his spot while he watch her do her thing.

Sensing someone in the same space as hers, she stopped in her track. Tiling her head to the side, her heart tightened when she saw Nicklaus.

Acting indifferent, she scanned Nicklaus. Gulping her tears in, she turned away after seeing the whole of him.

He was all ruffled with his hair rough. It was obvious that a lady had run her hand through his hair. She bit her lower lip before turning towards him again.

However, at that moment he was also starting so she stared directly into his eyes. There were so many questions in her stare that Nicklaus had to turn away from her.

Arissa gulped down her saliva as she battled with her emotions. To make things worst, his shirt was all rumpled with two buttons undone, his suit jacket was nowhere to be found and one does not need to guess what he had done with his appearance that way.

’He came to rub it on my face that he can have sex wherever,’ she thought.

’Why didn’t he spend the whole night with her?’

Using her free hand, she tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear before turning away from him. Unable to look back at him since it would only hurt her, she went straight to the hallway.

Nicklaus gazed at her back intensely as she walked away. Slamming that stupid voice in his mind ordering him to go after her, he ran his hand through his hair to be alright.

........

Arissa walked into her room. Her hands trembled occasionally from shock. The back of her palm was already burnt from the hot coffee.

Walking over to her fur couch, she placed the coffee on the mini table before settling down on her seat. She stared out of her French window in a daze. The stars were exceptionally beautiful tonight and one would love to take thousands of pictures of the stars.

However, Arissa wasn’t that person as she did not even acknowledge the stars not to talk about admiring them.

She just spaced out starting at them as her mind was all fixed on one person. Forcing a smile on her lips to hold back her tears, she held her hands together for support.

There were so many questions swimming in her head as she wondered what kind of rights she has to feel this way.

"I have no right to feel this way," she muttered out loud to convince herself. At that moment, two hot tears slipped down her cheek and tore her heart.

Bringing her hand to her face, she hastily cleaned them as she was scared of them. She was scared of these silly emotions.

Looking at her hurt palm, she walked over to her vanity table to have it treated. Drying it, she applied some cold ointment to it.

She was all alone in the room - not even Blu. was with her and it made her feel all lost and lonely as it messed up her sanity.

The image of Nicklaus coming back after having fun outside was plastered all around her room and there was nothing she could do to tear them off.

Her eyes unconsciously glanced at the small box on her lampstand. Looking at it, she smiled lightly remembering when he kissed her shoulder after giving her that jewelry and also, how he got her another necklace that read her name after an argument.

Walking into her closet, she picked up his shirt and the suit jacket he once handed over to her. It would be best if they lived like strangers with no trace of the next person around the other.

Even the duvets he had once used, she would hand them over to Rue tomorrow. She doesn’t want to have a trace of him in her room.

He’s already dead to her.

She had wanted a divorce, yes! However, he only stood on that. He never cared about knowing her reason concerning the divorce and now, he had the nerves to fool around and rub on her face.

Closing the door o her closet, she deleted the picture she stole from him once when he was asleep off her phone. Sniffing, she arranged her facade as she hid all traces of sadness before walking out of her room.

"Nicklaus," she called the man behind the doors softly as she knocked on the door.

Nicklaus who just walked into his room halted when he heard her voice and his heart trembled in happiness.

Walking briskly to his door, he opened his door wide and stood before it with a passive expression while he inwardly hoped she had come to apologize or take her words back.

Arissa looked at Nicklaus before looking down at her hand, "I came to return your stuff," she announced, killing all of the hopes that lingered in Nicklaus’s heart.

Nicklaus looked down at her hand and his eyes darkened seeing how unbothered she looked while passing the cloths over to him.

"Why?" Nicklaus could not help but ask, "Why are you returning them now?"

Arissa meets his eyes with a tight glare saying, "Why are you asking me that?" Wasn’t he the one who said they should live as strangers? Do strangers usually have the next person’s property in their hold?

"Now because they are taking a up lot of space in my room," she replied to him.

Nicklaus’s eyes passed over to the piece of shirt and a jacket in her possession. Was he being serious right now? How would that two things take up space in her room?

"I_"

Nicklaus was cut shut when Arissa moved closer and started up at him. Nicklaus stared down at her with confusion but it did not take long before his eyes flickered with light as they stared into her brown eyes.

He was lost in there as they were exceptionally so beautiful and calming. His gaze went down to her lips and the whole of him turned excited as they had also missed those lips.

Unable to resist her, Nicklaus leaned in slowly.

Arissa blinked when she saw him leaning in to kiss her. She gulped as she patiently waited for his lips to seal hers, she had also missed him but that was until she remembered he had been with another woman today.

With that thought, she immediately pulled away.

Her face hardened, "Your new woman would need these," she said to him, breaking free from his charms.

Nicklaus cursed himself for falling so hard before standing straight. The moment he stood straight, Arissa dropped the clothes on his leg before walking away. Slamming her door behind her, she was out of sight and Nicklaus could not help the smug smile that graced his lips.

He chuckled, "So you’re jealous?" he murmured looking down at his shirts on the floor.

He picked them up before starting at her door.

It would only be a matter of time before she realizes herself and comes around. He was sure about that.
