Chapter 134: Only Equal to Excruciating Pain.
Nicklaus spaced out as he stared at his office door in deep thought. It’s been three days already since they fought and after that night she threw his shirt at his feet, Nicklaus haven’t caught sight of Arissa around the house and it tormented him.
Each night he got back to the house, he would spend hours staring at her door with a strong urge to walk in but he always pull away the moment he remembers she still thinks about divorcing him.
It hasn’t been easy for him.
Particularly last night, he spent his whole night at her door, hoping to catch a glimpse of her but until 8:am when he left to work, she was nowhere to be seen.
He suspected she left the house already but Rue always said she was inside, she just don’t want to be seen and he was beginning to feel strangled.
This whole thing burned him from the inside and it seems like she was his only saving grace for him to be at peace again.
The few days they were at peace healed him to the point he forgot about his demons but now, they were crawling out to the crown of his head as their voices kept him company.
Geal raised his face from his newspaper, "Are you alright?" he asked when he saw Nicklaus still staring at the same position for almost an hour.
As if an on switch was pressed on Nicklaus’s brain, he blinked slightly before tilting his head towards Geal.
"Nicklaus?" Geal called with concern and Nicklaus only glared at him as his face went back to his signature hard rock look.
Geal hissed, "You know what? I shouldn’t have cared, you’re such an ass," he sassed before luxuriously taking his coffee mug to his lips.
Nicklaus stared hard at Geal and if looks could kill, Geal would have been burnt alive as a means of death.
But in the next second, Nicklaus frowned. Weirdly, he suddenly remembered when Arissa do call him an asshoe just from the word ’ass’ Geal mentioned.
Was he being serious right now? How would he always be reminded about her from little things that don’t even make sense?
Taking a deep sigh, he decided to share his problems with Geal. No matter how annoying Geal could be, he helped him the last time. Who knows, he might help again.
"I miss my wife," Nicklaus murmured in thought.
Geal paused as he tried to recall what Nicklaus said. He knew he heard something like "missing a wife" but that sounded so hilarious to him and he knows his friend would never miss a person so, what was that he said? Geal asked his mind.
’He said he misses his wife,’ his mind replied and Geal’s eyes widened.
That must be some joke, Geal thought. Forcefully gulping down his coffee, he studied Nicklaus to see a trace of a joke on his face but no! There wasn’t a hint of a joke in his friend’s expression.
He was fucking serious and this made Geal burst into laughter. Geal laughed so hard that tears stood by the corners of his eyes.
"Stop laughing," Nicklaus ordered in a warning tune when Geal’s laughter upgraded to a mocking one, "You can decide to help me or you leave my office...and my life,"
Nicklaus’s voice was so firm and dominant that Geal’s laugh died down but not immediately as the man held his stomach to calm down.
"Are you serious?" Geal asked still surprised by the news, "You miss your wife?" thought he heard the leave my life part, but he brushed it off as Nicklaus was just bluffing.
Nicklaus glared at Geal as he could still feel mockery from his friend’s words. Seeing Nicklaus was seriously not in for his jokes anymore, Geal cleared his throat and sat upright.
"What made you miss her? Did she travel or something?" Geal interrogated as he tried to understand the story here.
How would Nicklaus miss his wife when they stay together? Geal could vividly remember when even after eight years of staying abroad, Nicklaus never said he missed him but now, he misses someone around him.
Is this reality? Geal asked himself.
Nicklaus took in a deep breath, "She has been strictly avoiding me,"
"Hmmm," was all Geal said as he pondered on Nicklaus’s words.
"Do you have feelings for her?" Geal suddenly asked.
Nicklaus’s brows furrowed as he turned towards Geal, "How....why would, how is that related to what we are saying?" he stuttered.
’Gosh, that is so cute,’ Geal thought, hearing Nicklaus stutter for the first time.
Nicklaus might not realize it but his attitude just now was akin to someone having a hard time denying his wants and feelings.
"Do you have feelings for her?" Geal questioned with all seriousness as his face lost all trace of playfulness in them.
Nicklaus frowned, "Stop_"
"It’s a Yes or a No answer," Geal corrected as he could already predict Nicklaus saying something else.
Nicklaus’s aura darkened a bit. The office turned quiet, both men held their gaze, one trying to hide all emotions and lie to himself, the other trying to figure out something.
Nicklaus’s jaw flexed, "No," he finally spoke up, "I don’t have feelings for her. It’s practically disgusting,"
"Nicklaus?" Geal called his friend knowingly as he required the truth. For some reason, he could not believe Nicklaus’s words.
Nicklaus gulped as a drop of sweat broke down his face. Lowly, he muttered, "If I say yes, how do I end it?" due to embarrassment and shock, he did not meet Geal’s eyes.
He was sure he felt nothing but the excessive control she has over him was threatening and Geal might be able to help so...?
Geal sighed. Now it’s confirmed that his friend has lost it. He saw this from the beginning and the period he confirmed it all was the night his friend stood up to the lady he provided for him.
After a little pondering in the quiet office, Geal’s voice resounded, "It’s easy," he proclaimed and Nicklaus meet his eyes with expectations.
"I bet you both haven’t had sex. Use your charms, and lure her into your bed. After that, have sex with her and when you are done, I promise everything you are feeling now would all wash away," Geal said, "It isn’t real, your pent-up release might be what’s causing all of those wired emotions. I got you a lady the other night but you just stood her up. Well, when you are done with Arissa, you go back to your side chicks and before you know it, it would be as if these stupid feelings never existed," Geal suggested before taking another sip from his coffee.
Nicklaus’s blood boiled hearing how casually Geal insulated his wife.
Hearing no word from Nicklaus, Geal continued, "You are only lustfully obsessed with her. Have sex with her and you would get what I’m saying_"
Hearing enough, Nicklaus slammed on his desk, "Shut up Geal!" he growled.
Geal was startled, "What do you mean?"
"Don’t fucking talk about my wife like she’s some whore you could pick up and dump," he thundered at Geal and the man could only part his lips shocked. "Can’t you see you are only lustfully obsessed over her? Wasn’t your mother a good example of what that gender can do?" Geal yelled back.
He has to bring his friend back to his senses. He can’t let him fall victim to those bitches. If Nicklaus have forgotten what was good for him, he would always be around to remind him.
At the mention of his mother, Nicklaus froze in remembrance. He clenched his jaw tightly, "Arissa isn’t my mother," he defended, "She’s a whole different person with her beautiful light surrounding her," he added in admiration.
Geal’s brows furrowed. Was this his friend speaking?
Nicklaus glared at Geal, "We even kissed a couple of times," he pointed out.
"Those were just some kisses. I don’t think it changed anything in your relationship," Geal said lowly in a convincing voice.
"It did, it changed everything," Nicklaus snapped in protest.
Geal scoffed, "She would still hurt you. That’s what that gender is good at, they only know how to trample on our heart even after shedding it into a piece,"
"Geal stop!" Nicklaus warned tightly.
"You know my words are nothing but the whole truth. These feelings would only be equal to excruciating pain," Geal deadpanned, visibly annoyed.
Nicklaus went silent.
Geal stood up with a pained face, "I think I should be leaving. My newly signed model would arrive soon. Just don’t burn the world with your fury after she successfully hurt you," he said sarcastically.
Nicklaus only held his glare. Without pleasantries, Geal left the office.
