Chapter 126: No Tears Left To Cry.
Arissa jolted, her lips parted in shock when Nicklaus slammed her door that way. A tear slipped from her eyes and another followed.
Cleaning her face, she ran toward the door to say something to him. The something she wants to say, she doesn’t know what she has to say but anything might do, right?
Holding the knob of her door, those dark harsh orbs flashed in her memory and stopped her hand movement from turning the knob.
Her chest tightened as she stared at her hand holding the door knob but can’t turn it open. She parted her lips with muffled sobs as she forced her hand away from the doorknob.
Turning her back from the door, she rested her back on it for support as she cried more.
’It’s fine, you can have the open relationship you had always wanted,’
’You would get the divorce you want, I promise you that,’
’Avoid me until we formalize the divorce. Until then, we are back to strangers again,’
Repeating his words in her thought, her breath hitched, and her legs trembled as they turned weak from all he had said to her from just a mare conversation.
Dropping to the floor, she dragged her knees to her chest, as the way they had been all these while played themselves before her. Giving herself a mocking laugh, she realized he had always been waiting for this moment.
Surely, he had always wanted this but avoided bringing it up so he wouldn’t be at the receiving end of their contact and as the fool she was, she released him from his burden in a platter of gold.
She felt pained!
"God please, take this pain away," she whispered like a chant, a heartbreaking chant.
Gulping forcefully as if to gulp all of the pains she was feeling away, she rested her back on the door as she dazed out in thoughts.
....
"Fuck!!" Nicklaus caused as he kicked the boxing bag, "I fucking hate you!!" he screeched as he kicked the boxing bag harder.
"You are nothing but a selfish bitch. How dare you?" he roared in fury as he kicked the boxing bag again as if the boxing bag was the human hurting him.
It was almost two hours since he began to punch, and sweat streamed off his body. The floor under him was almost pooled from his sweat, but he wasn’t able to stop.
He wasn’t able to calm down, with the amount of sweat on the floor and the amount of time he had spent here, he was supposed to be tired from punching but his anger fueled him.
Her voice asking for a divorce sang itself out like music in his ear, enraging him more. His anger escalated when he felt her hand on his arm as if she was present and holding him.
Those tears that gathered in her eyes due to her good acting also hunted him. He felt angry remembering the tear and as if to mock him, his mind reminded him of all he said to her, making him feel pathetic.
He felt her presence - no, they violently invaded his memory and everything he thought about was her. Everything he felt was still her. He felt bonded to her in a wired unexplainable way and it was killing him. He was confused by all of these feelings.
The only thing holding him from going back to her room was his ego. His ego was the only chain holding him back.
Resuming his punching, he punched harder. He shut his eyes and punched without care as he tries to calm down.
He wasn’t supposed to be mad, this only made things easier but the fact she had another man she wanted to go back to, an unknown feeling covered his heart with anger and hate towards whoever that guy would be.
"Arissa!!!" he hollered out her name, his voice broke as his eyes turned blurry but that did not stop him from continuing to punch the bag.
"You fucking did this to me," he whispered tiredly as his self-control crumbled. He knew the amount of self-control he has but now, he wasn’t even holding up to -1 percent of his self-control and it was all her fault.
When she spoke about the divorce, the first feeling he felt was fear. Fear covered his heart because he knew undoubtedly his life would go back to dark if she leaves.
"I fucking hate you. I FUCKING HATE YOU," he yelled. Unable to control himself anymore, for the first time in so many years, those salty waters finally slipped off his eyes.
"I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOU EVER AGAIN," he yelled further. His resilience in punching the bag dropped and he gradually stopped. The hard punches became tiredly soft.
Staring at the boxing bag, the sad tear dropped, "I don’t want to see you ever again," he whispered.
Grabbing the boxing bag, he hugged it with weak emotions. Hugging the bag, an hot liquid drooped on his arm.
He stepped away from the boxing bag in surprise. Hastily freeing his hands from his gloves, he touched his face and his eyes widened in surprise.
His lips parted in both shock and fear. He had always been able to take all of his tears back. They had never left his eyes even when he remembers his father.
To some point, he had thought he had no more tears left to cry. Raising his hand to his face once again, he wiped another tear off his face in surprise.
Did Arissa do something to him? Why did he release tears from what happened? Why was he angry? What the fuck is wrong with him?
"Arissa," he called her name in fear, "How did you do this?" he asked as if she was before him while staring down at the tears on his palm.
He ran his hand through his hair, combing it in confusion. He doesn’t know what she did to him but a wiser part of him advised him to stay away from her.
In confusion, he walked out of his gym. Getting to his hallway, he stopped and stared at her door. A dark chuckle left his lips when he saw her lights off.
She’d messed him up and was now sleeping soundly? He shook his head in determination. He would make sure she pay.
Going into his room, he showered before leaving for his study room. He would spend a night there, a night opposite this selfish creature would only be bad for his sanity.
