Chapter 102: High-Classed Smug

Nicklaus’s mood turned sour with each second they get closer to the airport Collins was at, but he decided not to show it and rather, he just looked ahead.

To him, he had perfectly masked his emotions but to Arissa, she saw all of it, and the tight scowl on his face was obvious to her.

"I mentioned that you don’t have to tag along. You could have just asked your guards to watch me around and report my ass to you and if possible, take a video of me and note all conversations I have with the people around," she suggested with deep sarcasm.

She had had enough of his unhealthy emotions. She tried to keep on with them, but ever since she meet up with him after visiting the hospital, his frown haven’t left his face.

’Why was he so pissed and irritated when he was the one that didn’t trust her enough and decided to tag along?’

Nicklaus turned to her and her stern expression was all it took for his scowl to soften a bit, "I would never do that Arissa. You can go anywhere with my guards and talk to anybody but right at this moment, I want to be around you while you give that doctor of yours his departure speech," thought his voice was not hard, it was easy to point out the dripping mistrust in them and Arissa doesn’t know if it was towards her or Collins. Probably, both of them.

"Oh!" Arissa nodded before turning back to the window, "That was a mistake," she remarked, opening up the kissing incident. No matter what happens, he’s her husband and what happened between her and Collins was never meant to happen.

"I know," Nicklaus agreed, fixing his whole attention on her again, "How is your arm?"

The affection his voice carried made Arissa forcefully swipe her head to him. Turning her head to him, she met his eyes that were already staring at her.

Arissa gave him an awkward look before turning back to the tinted glass. She turned suspicious and confidently sure that something is wrong with him or who knows, he got amnesia overnight and suddenly thought they were loving.

"Why did you get me those gifts last night?" she questioned as she ignored his question without turning to him.

"It was nothing," he replied.

Arissa turned to him with squinted eyes when she heard what he said and how his tune was back to indifferent and aloof.

"Is something wrong?" she was about to accept his new mood and all of a sudden, he was back to his normal self. Is he bipolar? She thought.

Nicklaus’s jaw tightened.

She has been disregarding his attempts to make peace and it doesn’t sit down well with him, "You are ignoring me again," he stated the reason for his mood swing.

Arissa frowned. What’s the big deal with me ignoring him? She thought. If he needs attention, all he has to do was to step out of this car and snap! he would command all attention without even trying so, hers shouldn’t be a big deal right?

However, what does he mean by the gift was nothing? Chocolates and jewelry can’t mean nothing unless_ no! She shunned herself.

’Don’t go down that lane. You two are already married and it would be foolish of you to think he’s trying to woe you,’ her inner voice snapped at her.

’But the date?’ she protested in her thought.

’It’s nothing. Don’t get too sensitive, it would just hurt you,’ her inner thought advised.

"Stop thinking about something else while I speak to you," Nicklaus snapped her off her thought with a low growl. He was feeling threatened with his position in her life and he don’t understand why he should.

Arissa hissed, "Then, just don’t talk to me. I’m in no mood to talk to you. Let’s not just talk," she shot back at him.

"I_"

"Let’s not talk," Arissa cut him off his intended speech.

Nicklaus gave her one last glance before focusing ahead. He was beginning to get pissed with how he was starting to have less control over himself around her. He was disgusted with how she kept on pushing him to the edge and with the way he always gave in to her he saw nothing but dangers ahead.

Arissa turned to him, "When do I get my motorcycle back?" she questioned breaking the silence. Riding in a car was so boring and stressful.

Nicklaus turned to her, "You don’t need that. I would get you more cars of your choice if you don’t like the ones in the garage,"

Arissa’s jaw dropped with how arrogant he could be.

"I don’t need your cars, Nicklaus. Just give me back my motorcycle," Arissa ordered him with a sharp voice.

Nicklaus’s face turned stoic with the changed air in the car, "Let’s talk about this when we get back home," he insisted.

Arissa rolled her eyes, "We never talked about it when you sized my motorcycle so why do we have to talk for me to have it back?"

"Arissa," he called her name sternly with authority.

"Nicklaus," she shut him up in a taunt voice, "Why do you always act this way?"

Nicklaus was taken aback by her question, "What do you mean, how do I act?" he asked her curiously.

Arissa eyed him, "You don’t realize how dickish you act?" she asked with a surprised crowed brow.

Nicklaus swallowed, "Arissa yo_"

"Let me finish," she cut him off, "You don’t care about people’s opinions and you are highly insensitive to their feelings. Tell me, don’t you feel the need to change? Don’t you get tired of being a high classed smug?"

Nicklaus’s expression stiffened and his expression dropped as he listened to her ranting.

"You enjoy being an ass, don’t you?" she continued, "You enjoy passing your sadist syndromes to everyone around you_"

"Arissa stop!" Nicklaus cut her off with a warning at the edge of his voice. If she says one more offensive word, he wasn’t sure he would be able to stay still just looking at her.

Arissa kept shut and stared at him, her expression tight and taunting.

"I’m not a sadist," he explained calmly.

"Oh," Arissa scoffed. "If so, when do I get my motorcycle?"

Nicklaus released a calm breath and stared at her softly, "Let’s finish the business we came out for,"

Arissa turned away from him and clenched her sunshade tightly like she would snap it in seconds.
