His Mistress is His Ex-Wife
Chapter 76: Revelation

Chapter 76: Revelation

Dr. Harris sat behind his desk, sifting through his patient’s chart and jotting down notes when the door to his office swung open. Startled, he looked up to see an unexpected figure standing in the doorway.

"Mr. Smith?" Dr. Harris exclaimed, his surprise evident in his voice as he recognized his unexpected client.

’What is he doing here in my clinic? I thought he never wanted to see my face ever again.’ Dr. Harris pondered to himself.

"I’m glad you can still remember me, Dr. Harris. I came here to ask you something," Dominique said, a hint of urgency in his tone as he stepped further into the office.

"How can I forget you, Mr. Smith? You’re the reason why I left York City and opened my own clinic here," Dr. Harris replied, gesturing to the chair opposite his desk. "What do you want to know from me?"

Dominique’s eyebrows knitted together in a puzzled frown at Dr. Harris’s revelation. With a sense of curiosity and concern, he settled into the chair, his gaze fixed on the doctor.

"What do you mean by that?" he inquired, a hint of uncertainty visible in his voice. It was clear that Dominique was clueless about the significance of Dr. Harris’s words.

Dr. Harris observed Dominique suspiciously. He didn’t know if he was just feigning ignorance or if he had forgotten everything.

"Mr. Smith, have you forgotten about it?" Dr. Harris’s voice held a tinge of frustration as he confronted Dominique. "It was you who told me not to ever show my face to you ever again. You paid me fifty million dollars for me to resign and leave York City for good."

Confusion resurfaced on Dominique’s face as he had no recollection of that. "You might be mistaken, Dr. Harris," he responded.

"I didn’t do that. I don’t remember paying you that amount or asking you to leave York City." Dominique attempted to make sense of the unexpected revelation, his mind racing to reconcile Dr. Harris’s assertion with his own memories of their past interactions.

Meanwhile, Dr. Harris’s expression softened slightly as he observed Dominique’s genuine confusion. Despite his own certainty about the events, he realized there might be more to the situation than he initially thought.

"I understand this might be surprising to you," Dr. Harris said calmly, his tone more measured now. "But I distinctly remember my conversation with your secretary, Sasha. She threatened me and forced me to accept the money."

Dominique’s jaw dropped in shock as the pieces of the puzzle fell into place, the truth sinking in with startling clarity. "Sasha..." he repeated, his voice tinged with a mixture of disbelief and anger. "I can’t believe she would do something like that."

"I’m sorry, Mr. Smith. I thought it was a direct order from you. Your secretary made me believe that you were the one who wanted me out."

Dominique remained silent for a moment, his thoughts swirling with a whirlwind of emotions. Finally, he spoke, his voice tinged with resolve. "Thank you for telling me this, Dr. Harris," he said. "I need to confront Sasha about this. And I won’t rest until I get to the bottom of it."

"But I have another reason why I seek your presence today. This is with regards to my ex-wife, Sabrina."

Dr. Harris’s expression softened at the mention of Sabrina’s name. Memories flooded his mind, reminding him of the tragic events that had unfolded after he left York City. "I’m deeply sorry for your loss, Mr. Smith," he offered, his voice filled with genuine sympathy. "Losing both your wife and your unborn child at the same time must have been incredibly difficult for you."

Dominique sat in stunned silence as Dr. Harris’s words sank in. His mind reeled, struggling to comprehend the gravity of what he had just heard.

"My... unborn child?" Dominique repeated, his voice barely above a whisper, his eyes wide with disbelief. "I had no idea... Sabrina never told me she was pregnant."

"So... my suspicion is true... Sabrina was pregnant with my child..."

Dr. Harris nodded sympathetically, his heart aching for Dominique as he witnessed the shock and sorrow etched upon his face. "I thought you knew about her pregnancy. Didn’t your secretary inform you? Miss Sasha and Mrs. Smith kept you in the dark."

Dominique’s hands trembled as he processed the revelation, his thoughts racing with a whirlwind of emotions. The realization that he had unknowingly lost not only his wife but also his unborn child left him feeling utterly devastated.

’Sabrina was pregnant when I forced her to sign our divorce agreement... She was pregnant when I told her I didn’t need her... She was pregnant when I betrayed her... making her believe that I cheated on her with Sasha...’

’She was pregnant when she decided to jump off that bridge while saying how much she hated me... And this happened because of me.... It was all my fault!’

"I... I don’t know what to say," Dominique murmured, his voice choked with emotion. His heart clenched inside his chest, feeling suffocated. An intense feeling of guilt consumed his whole being and he didn’t know what to do.

Dr. Harris reached out a comforting hand, offering silent support to Dominique in his moment of grief. Together, they sat in somber silence, struggling with the painful truth that had emerged from their conversation.

Dominique slammed his eyes shut while gritting his teeth. He clenched his fists tightly, his own anger simmering beneath the surface as he recalled Sasha’s deception. Sasha knew about Sabrina’s pregnancy but she never mentioned this to him.

He also realized that Sasha deliberately hid the truth from him. She even paid Dr. Harris and threatened him to leave York City to bury the truth about Sabrina’s pregnancy. If he had known about this, he might have changed his mind about his revenge. He would try to fix his relationship with Sabrina. But now, it was too late. He committed a grave sin to her.

’Sasha... I trusted you. Why did you have to do this to me? Why? You took away my chance to have a fresh start with Sabrina and our child.’
