Chapter 75: Closer to Truth

"No criminal record!! How is that possible? I was one of the witnesses. I saw him shooting Dominique, his brother-in-law!" Melody insisted, claiming Enzo was a murderer.

Enzo was confused. Did he really do it? Did he kill someone?

"Did he die? I killed someone?"

"Of course not! You didn’t kill someone, Enzo!" Athena answered him.

"Don’t listen to her nonsense," Lanny also spoke up.

"Mr. Smith didn’t press charges against Mr. Williams," the police officer clarified.

"We have to go now. Sorry for this inconvenience once again." The police officers apologized to Enzo, Athena, and Lanny before leaving the Goddess Elixirs Cafe.

When the police officers left, Oliver felt so embarrassed because of Melody’s actions. He didn’t know how to face Athena and Lanny. His fiancé had ruined everything.

"You should leave now, Mr. Jones. No more negotiation will happen between our parties." Lanny declared in her stern cold voice.

Oliver was about to beg her but Melody immediately grabbed his hand. "You can choose another ambassador for your hotel. Don’t waste your time here. How can you choose someone who slapped your fiancé? Let’s go!"

Oliver had no choice but to follow Melody. When they reached their car, Oliver removed Melody’s hand that was holding him.

"What have you done, Melody? Because of you, my negotiation with Athena has been ruined!" Oliver didn’t hide his displeasure and disappointment toward Melody. He had been enduring this in front of Athena and Lanny.

Now that they were alone, he could tell Melody what he wanted to say.

"Why are you getting mad at me? Have you forgotten? Those two bitches were the ones who hurt me! They grabbed my hair and slapped my face." Melody lashed out at Oliver.

Oliver just shook his head in disbelief. "You are at fault here. You made a scene out there. You deserve it."

"Melody, you have been spoiled by your father. You should learn to interact with others in a calm manner. You are hotblooded. No wonder you always pick a fight with someone. So the rumors are true." Oliver ridiculed her bad behavior.

Melody glared at him. "I hate you, Oliver! Why are you siding with those women!"

Melody hit Oliver with her shoulder bag before walking out. She could no longer stand Oliver. He was speaking so harshly of her.

’I hate this guy! I don’t know what he has seen on Athena. She is just a singer hiding from her mask. I bet she is ugly that’s why she hides behind her mask. I can’t wait to let everyone see her true face.’

As she marched away, Melody was thinking of a way how she could reveal Athena’s face in public.

"Maybe I can do it during the Product Launch of W Diamond Group. I will embarrass her in front of everyone!" Melody started plotting a scheme against Athena. She wanted revenge against Lanny and Athena.

"I will hire someone to bash them! Just you wait." Melody murmured to herself.

Meanwhile, back at the Goddess Elixirs Cafe, Athena, Lanny, and Enzo remained at their table. Everyone was silent, still absorbing the unexpected encounter with Melody.

"Do you know what happened in the past? What did I do to my brother-in-law?" Enzo inquired. He could only trust Lanny’s and Athena’s words.

"And if Melody is my cousin... why do I feel like she hates me a lot?" he added, feeling down.

Athena and Lanny exchanged meaningful glances with one another, hesitating about what they would reveal to him.

"Honestly, we don’t know what exactly transpired five years ago. Athena and I were in Country M when it happened. And we just heard the news that you went missing." Lanny chose the safest answer for now.

"Don’t worry about it, Enzo. Once you recover your memories, lots of questions will be answered." Athena reassured him.

Both Athena and Lanny were glad that Enzo was no longer a fugitive or a wanted criminal in York City. They had to admit that they were surprised when they heard from the police officers that Dominique didn’t press charges against Enzo. It was unusual for Dominique to do so.

"And one more thing, Enzo... regarding your relatives... Don’t trust them. When you disappeared, they acquired your father’s company. They are greedy." Athena warned Enzo about the Williams Family.

"They want the company for themselves, that’s why they hate your existence. You are a threat to them," Lanny added.

Enzo fell silent. He could somehow grasp the current situation in the Williams Family. So there was a power struggle among the Williams Family.

"If that is the case, do you think... my relatives have something to do with my accident? They want to eliminate me for good..." Enzo became saddened by that thought.

Athena and Lanny could understand Enzo’s feelings at this moment. He lost his memory so he was sad knowing that his relatives had ill intentions toward him– the same family members who betrayed them five years ago.

"Yes, it is possible that they were involved in your accident. And aside from them, we also suspected your brother-in-law. He has a motive to kill you." Athena decided to reveal this to Enzo so that he would be more cautious when dealing with them.

Sooner or later, Enzo might encounter another member of the Williams Family as long as he was staying here in York City.

Enzo frowned at the mention of his brother-in-law. "I haven’t seen my sister’s grave... because her body is still missing. Do you think there is a possibility that she is still alive?"

"Yes, she might still be alive... so don’t lose hope," Athena said, grabbing Enzo’s hand. Once Enzo regained his memory, she would reveal her identity to him.

"Thank you, Athena and Lanny. I think I have more reason to recover my memory. I also need to find my sister."

’You don’t have to, because I’m already here.’ Athena smiled at him faintly.

[ At Starlight Group: CEO’s Office... ]

Dominique called his subordinate who had been following Enzo. He was aware of the encounter between Enzo and Melody because he received her message. He immediately ordered Chief Espinas to fix the issue created by Melody.

"Give me an update," Dominique commanded his subordinate in his stern voice.

"The police officers didn’t capture Enzo, Boss. They already left. Melody and Oliver also fought in the parking area. Enzo and the two women are still inside the Cafe."

Dominique had the urge to confront Athena right now. But he was waiting for Melody and Oliver to leave the Cafe.

"Good. Just continue following Enzo."

"Coby, Boss."

When Dominique hung up the call, he received an urgent call from Alice.

"Boss, I’ve found Dr. Matthew Harris! He is currently in Greenbells City. It is a two-hour journey from York City. He has his private clinic in this city." Alice informed him.

She left Fortuna Grande Island after receiving an urgent mission from Dominique. She used her approved leave to accomplish her mission. Instead of following Enzo in York City, Alice prioritized the task given to her by Dominique.

Dominique’s face brightened up when he heard this good news. He couldn’t wait to see Dr. Harris. "Good job, Alice. Please give me his address. I’m going to meet him today."

"MH Clinic, Iznart Building, Greenbells City. I am here in his clinic, Boss."

"Okay. I’m going there right now. Keep an eye on him. Don’t let him get away from me." Dominique wouldn’t waste this opportunity to learn the truth.

"Understood, Boss."

When the call ended, Dominique didn’t waste his time. He grabbed his coat and car keys. After giving his secretary a few instructions, he finally left his office.

Dominique’s heart was racing as he drove his car. He had mixed feelings for this. Part of him was eager to hear the truth but another part of him was afraid of something. What if his suspicion was right? He didn’t know if he could ever forgive himself.

The two-hour travel became one and a half hours because Dominique sped up. He finally reached his destination. His body was tense and his heart pounded crazily against his chest as he stood in front of the clinic.

Soon, someone stepped out of the entrance. He recognized Alice. She was waving at him. Dominique took a deep breath, mustering up his courage as he strode toward the entrance door of the clinic.

"Boss, I already set your appointment with Dr. Harris. He is already waiting for you inside," Alice informed him.

Dominique nodded in understanding. "Just wait for me outside." He wanted to talk to Dr. Harris alone.

With heavy footsteps, Dominique made his way to Dr. Harris’ consultation office. He knocked on the door.

"Please come in," Dr. Harris spoke behind the door.

With a serious expression on his face, Dominique entered the room. He saw Dr. Harris sitting at his table while checking his patient’s chart. When Dr. Harris raised his head to look at Dominique, he was surprised when he recognized his unexpected client.

"Mr. Smith?"
