Chapter 74: Misunderstanding

[ At Goddess Elixirs Cafe... ]

After visiting Athena and Enzo’s parents’ graves at memorial park cemetery, the three of them headed to Goddess Elixirs Cafe to meet Oliver Jones.

"This Cafe is owned by my brother, Vladimir," Lanny informed Enzo. "Do you want to work here? I think he is still hiring."

Enzo’s eyes lit up when he heard that. He scanned the place and he liked the ambiance of the Cafe.

"I would love to," Enzo responded.

"That’s great. Now, you have a lot of options. Be my personal Chef, our bodyguard, or be an employee of this Cafe." Lanny clapped her hands in excitement. They must keep Enzo close to them while Athena was finding a way to fix his case.

Enzo just let out a soft chuckle. "By the way, where is Athena?" His gaze flickered around the Cafe, looking for Athena.

"She’s in the restroom, putting on her mask. We will be meeting a representative from Jones International Inc.," Lanny explained.

Enzo just nodded in understanding.

Athena, Lanny, and Enzo waited on the second floor. They just instructed the Cafe Manager to guide Oliver once he showed up.

It did not take long before Oliver arrived at the Cafe. However, Athena and Lanny didn’t anticipate that he would bring his fiancé with him.

"Melody Williams," Athena mumbled when she saw the woman standing next to Oliver.

Athena and Lanny exchanged worried glances with one another. Then they darted their gazes back and forth between Enzo and Melody. The two ladies sensed incoming trouble.

When Melody and Oliver reached their table, Melody’s expression changed, her gaze fixed on Enzo. With eyes wide open, Melody gasped. "Enzo! You are here?!"

Enzo and Oliver glanced at her.

"Do you know him, Babe?" Oliver asked her.

Enzo was also anticipating her reply.

"Of course. I know him! He is my missing cousin! And a murderer!" Melody declared as she stepped back, hiding herself using Oliver’s body.

Meanwhile, Enzo was taken aback when he heard Melody’s last remarks. She called him a murderer and she seemed afraid of Enzo.

On the other hand, Lanny and Athena glared at Melody sharply. They had the urge to cut Melody’s tongue off her mouth. How dare she call Enzo a murderer? He didn’t kill anyone.

Without further ado, Melody immediately picked up her phone and dialed the emergency line of the York City Police Department to report Enzo’s whereabouts.

"Hello! I have to report something! Please go to Goddess Elixirs Cafe right now. There is a wanted person here. The fugitive, Enzo Williams! Go here and capture–!"

Melody didn’t finish her words as Athena immediately snatched her phone.

"Hey, give it back to me! That man is dangerous!" Melody yelled at her.

Athena just threw her phone on the floor. Melody picked it up while giving her a deathly glare.

"Eh? What’s going on here?" Oliver was confused. He was supposed to negotiate with Lanny and Athena, but his fiancé was making a scene.

’Sigh. I shouldn’t have allowed her to come with me.’ Oliver regretted it. Melody was the one who insisted on coming with him when she learned that he had a meeting with Athena and her manager.

"Mr. Jones, we thought you were here to talk with us. Why did you bring this woman? We can’t forgive her for insulting our friend." Lanny spoke up in her stern cold voice.

"I think we should forget about this collaboration." Athena was displeased. She looked so mad.

"Miss Lanny, and Miss Athena. I think there is a misunderstanding here. Wait. I’ll just talk to my girlfriend." Oliver tried to pull Melody but she stubbornly pushed him away.

"There is no misunderstanding. That guy is a bad guy! He should be imprisoned!" Melody kept on ridiculing Enzo.

Enzo was silent. He didn’t know what to say. He was shocked by this revelation.

"Don’t listen to her, Enzo," Athena grabbed her brother’s hand. "Let’s go."

Athena was about to leave, pulling Enzo’s hand when Melody stopped her.

"Hey, where do you think you are going? Are you helping him to escape?" Melody aggressively yanked Athena’s elbow.

Lanny narrowed her eyes when she witnessed that. Unable to control her rage, she grabbed Melody’s hair and pulled her away from Athena.

"Ouch! Ouch! Let go of my hair!" Melody complained.

"Don’t you dare touch Athena!" Lanny just ignored Melody’s complaint. She already lost her patience and she was annoyed by this woman.

"Oliver! Help me!" Melody asked for Oliver’s help.

Enzo and Oliver had no choice but to intervene, separating the two women.

"Lanny, calm down. We should leave," Athena tried to pacify Lanny’s anger. Even she herself was boiling with rage and wanted to slap Melody for treating Enzo like that. But she tried to maintain her composure.

While Athena was talking to Lanny, Melody informed Dominique that she found Enzo. She even told him that he contacted the police.

[ Dominique, Enzo is here in Goddess Elixirs Cafe. I called the police. I will try my best to buy time for the police. It looks like they are planning to escape. ]

"No more negotiation, Mr. Jones. We shall leave." Lanny declared to him.

Oliver got anxious when he heard that. He didn’t want to throw this rare opportunity to work with Athena.

"Miss Lanny, please don’t go. Let’s talk this out first," Oliver pleaded.

But Lanny ignored his plea. She was pissed off by Melody. She motioned for Enzo and Athena to follow her but Enzo remained standing in his spot.

"Enzo? Are you not coming with us?" Lanny asked him when he didn’t take a step.

"I’m sorry, Lanny. I want to stay and find out the truth. This woman claims to be my cousin and she is accusing me of something I can’t remember." Enzo said with unwavering resolve.

Athena and Lanny were taken aback when they heard that.

"I’m fine. Don’t compromise your business meeting just because of me. Go and talk to Mr. Jones. I don’t mind it. I’ll talk to her," Enzo added, giving them a reassuring smile.

"Haha! Enzo, don’t feign innocence. Are you also pretending you don’t know me at all?" Melody mocked him once again.

"Stop being stubborn, Enzo. Just listen to us. Or else, I’m going to drag you out of this Cafe," Lanny uttered, feeling annoyed.

The police officers might be on their way now. They had to leave the place before they captured Enzo. Athena and Lanny didn’t want him to be taken away by the police.

"Before returning here, I’ve made up my mind. I’ll try to recover my memories. I won’t run away anymore," Enzo expressed his thoughts. "If I committed a crime in the past, then I should pay for it."

"Whoah! Your acting is superb," Melody clapped her hands while giving Enzo a smug smile.

"Shut up, Bitch!" Lanny snarled at her.

"You! Shut up!" Melody spat back at her.

Melody was about to attack Lanny to get even at her for grabbing her hair earlier, but before she could get near Lanny, Athena stepped in the middle of them, delivering a hard slap on Melody’s face.

She had been trying to restrain herself but Melody had already crossed her final boundary. She could no longer tolerate this woman.

Everyone fell silent when Athena showed her angry side. Melody wanted to get revenge but Oliver quickly grabbed her, holding her in place.

"Stop this, Melody!" He scolded her. He felt embarrassed since Melody continued making a ruckus. Furthermore, she angered his goddess Athena. Oliver couldn’t look straight into Athena’s eyes.

"How dare you slap me?!! You don’t know me!? I’m the daughter of the Chairman of W Diamond Group, the company that recruited you to be their endorser! In just one word from me, you will lose that job!" Melody burst out, threatening Athena.

"I don’t care. You pushed my button," Athena said nonchalantly.

Soon, two men in uniform approached them, interruptung their conversation.

"Hello, we’ve received a report that there is a wanted person here." The police officer spoke to them.

Melody immediately moved closer to the police, putting on a pitiful face. She pointed her finger at Athena, Lanny and Enzo.

"These people are assaulting me. Look! My face turned red and swollen from her slap. And the guy in the middle is Enzo, the wanted criminal!"

"I’m going to call my brother." Lanny had no choice but to seek help from Vladimir.

The two police officers were about to capture and handcuff Enzo when one of them received an urgent call from the headquarters. He was surprised to see that the caller was their Chief.

The police officer answered the phone call. He listened to their head for several minutes, receiving instructions from him. After hanging up the call, the police officer approached Enzo and bowed his head to apologize.

"We are sorry, sir, for this inconvenience. It turned out we received a false report."

Enzo, Athena, and Lanny exchanged puzzled look with each other. Even Melody got confused when she heard that.

"What do you mean false report? Why are you apologizing to a criminal?!" Melody reacted exasperatedly.

The police officer glanced at Melody sharply. "Miss, stop accusing someone. They can charge you for that. Mr. Enzo William is not a criminal. He is not even included in our wanted list. You’ve been mistaken."

Lanny and Athena didn’t expect to hear that.

"Is it really true?" Oliver was the one who spoke up. "So everything is just a misunderstanding?" He glared at Melody who just ruined everything today.

"Yes. Mr. Enzo has no criminal record. We’ve confirmed it from our headquarters." The police officer informed them.
