Chapter 73: Conclusion

Athena, who was also worried about her brother, rushed to Lanny’s condo unit as soon as she read Lanny’s message regarding Enzo’s arrival in York City.

"What shall we do? Enzo is a wanted person here in York City. We can’t let him roam around. Police will catch him instantly once spotted by them." Lanny expressed her concern to Athena. This was one of the reasons why she hadn’t allowed Enzo to leave her place ever since he arrived.

Athena’s expression became sullen when she heard that. "You are right. I’ll ask Gael’s help to connect me with an attorney to fix my brother’s case. For now, we can’t let Enzo go out."

"The easiest way to fix this is to settle with Dominique. He was the victim." Lanny brought it up. "Should I make a deal with your scumbag ex?"

"I don’t think he would cooperate and agree to settle. He hates my family... He won’t spare my brother."

Athena and Lanny were still clueless that Dominique didn’t press charges against Enzo and Enzo’s crime record had been cleared by the Head of YCPD, Chief Clint Espinas who happened to be Dominique’s friend.

Lanny nodded, taking a deep sigh. "Alright. For now, let’s protect Enzo. He won’t understand if a police officer suddenly catches him since he doesn’t have a recollection of the crime he committed five years ago."

"Yeah. We can’t let Dominique or any members of the Williams family see him," Athena mumbled with unwavering resolve.

It did not take long before Athena and Lanny joined Enzo in the living room. The two ladies started interviewing him for his purpose of returning to York City.

"I plan to visit the tombs of my parents and my sister. Could you please guide me?" Enzo requested them.

Lanny glanced at Athena. Between them, Athena was the only person who knew the exact location of their parents’ tomb while Sabrina didn’t have one since her dead body was never found.

"Yes. We can guide you to the cemetery." Athena promptly responded.

But then, Lanny secretly patted Athena’s thigh, asking her if it was safe to go there. Athena just gave her a simple nod.

"Thank you, Athena," Enzo expressed his gratitude as he smiled at them.

"By the way, where is Alice? Why didn’t she come with you?" Lanny simply asked Enzo, curious about Alice’s whereabouts. She wanted to find out what kind of person Alice was.

"Her leave of absence is still pending for approval. She will follow me here," He informed them.

Lanny didn’t ask further about Alice. Meanwhile, Athena spoke to Enzo regarding his plan.

"Enzo, why don’t you stay here while waiting for Alice? Lanny has two vacant rooms right now."

Enzo smiled awkwardly, feeling embarrassed. "But I don’t want to be a burden. I’m planning to look for an apartment and a job.

"I already hired you. You can start working with me," Lanny insisted. "And don’t ever think that you are a burden. You are our friend, that’s why we are offering you to stay with us. We’ve promised you that we would help you recover your memory."

Enzo didn’t know how to refuse that. "Okay. I will be grateful if you will let me stay here temporarily. I can look for a new apartment once Alice is here."

Lanny’s expression changed when she heard that. She knew that Enzo and Alice should have a separate apartment because they were already living together as a couple.

’Fine. While Alice is not around, I can let Enzo stay here in my place.’ Lanny convinced herself that she was okay with this set-up. However, in the back of her mind, she had a hidden desire for Enzo.

She was debating with her inner self whether she would force Enzo to fulfill his forgotten promise about giving her a son. This was a great opportunity to do that.

’I missed having sex with him.’ She admitted to herself, biting her lower lip as she watched Enzo with burning desire visible in her eyes.

’I wonder if he will be tempted to cooperate with me. What if he is faithful to Alice? Enzo won’t touch me.’

As Lanny battled with her inner thoughts, Athena rose from her seat. "Shall we go? We can visit your parents now." She smiled as she invited Enzo.

Enzo nodded, feeling grateful toward Athena and Lanny. "Okay. Let’s go. I want to greet them."

The three of them left Lanny’s condo unit. Athena was the one driving the car. Lanny sat on the front passenger seat while Enzo settled down on the back passenger seat.

"I haven’t asked the two of you yet. What is your job?" Enzo asked the ladies.

Lanny and Athena exchanged meaningful glances with one another before they responded.

"I’m a singer." Athena giggled

"And I’m her manager!" Lanny patted Athena’s shoulder, feeling so proud of her. "Aside from her powerful voice, my artist here is very popular. She is in demand. So many project offers are lining up to sign her."

Enzo was surprised when he heard that. "Really?"

"Yes. You can search on Ye-Tube. Athena is the masked singer!"

Enzo blinked with amusement. He had heard Athena’s name even on Fortuna Grande Island. Who would have thought that the Athena in front of him was the famous Ye-tube global sensation?

"I’m speechless... Can I have your autograph after this? There are lots of people in Fortuna Grande who are admiring you, including Alice’s patients. You are their idol."

"Sure, I can give you as many autographs as you want. In the future, I’ll visit the hospital in Fortuna Grande and perform there for my fans to cheer them up and encourage them to stay healthy." Athena would like to use her voice to inspire people.

"You are so kind, Athena. Everyone will be happy to see your real face. Everyone is talking about your appearance." Enzo had recalled how the patients discussed Athena’s face. They were intrigued by her.

"Speaking of that, I just remembered that we have a meeting with Oliver Jones this afternoon. We will talk about his company’s offer." Lanny reminded Athena of their schedule for today. "You can come with us, Enzo."

"Sure. Since Athena is a famous celebrity, I will serve as her bodyguard," Enzo volunteered.

Athena and Lanny just let out a soft giggle.

When they reached the Memorial Park cemetery, the mood shifted. Enzo had become silent as he followed Athena and Lanny, each carrying a bouquet of flowers in their hands.

Lanny could also sense that Athena was somehow affected. After five years of being away, today would be the first time she was visiting their parents’ tombs as well.

"Are you okay?" Lanny whispered in Athena’s ear, holding her hand. She wanted to comfort Athena.

Athena just smiled at her. She just missed her parents, especially her father. Albert Williams might be strict sometimes, but he never failed to show her how much he loved her and Enzo.

She was still clueless as to why Dominique’s resentment toward her father ran too deep.

"We are here," Athena said as she gently placed her bouquet on her mother’s grave, her fingers tracing the letters of her name carved into the stone. Enzo stood beside her, silent, his own bouquet resting on his father’s grave.

As the three of them offered a silent prayer for the deceased, a figure was lurking around them, observing the three. A guy hiding from the distance took pictures and videos of them.

He immediately sent a message to his Boss.

[ Sir, Mr. Enzo Williams has finally arrived here in York City. I am following him today. He visits his parents’ grave. He is accompanied by two women. ]

Dominique, who was in a meeting, received the message of his underling. Alice already informed him about Enzo returning to York City. Dominique assigned someone to monitor him and safeguard him in the shadows.

Dominique frowned upon reading the message. He stopped listening to the presenter since his focus shifted to his phone.

[ Who are with him? ] He replied back.

Just a few seconds later, he received another message from his subordinate. It was a photo of Enzo, Athena, and Lanny standing in front of Albert and Samantha’s grave.

Dominique’s eyes widened in surprise when he recognized Athena. ’Enzo’s memories haven’t returned yet so he doesn’t know the exact location of his parent’s graves. This only meant... Athena and the woman beside her are the ones who guided him there. How are they connected to the Williams Family?’

Dominique’s suspicion of Athena’s identity was growing stronger and stronger each day. This mysterious woman had been bothering his mind ever since they first met at the Circles Event.

’I have this nagging feeling that Athena might be Sabrina. Her voice... her eyes, and her love for music are very similar to Sabrina.’ Dominique didn’t know what he would feel about this.

’Sabrina... might still be alive, and she might be Athena.’ He concluded in his mind.
