Chapter 66: Forgetfulness

[ At Summit Medical Center... ]

"Dom, where have you been? I’ve been looking for you. Are you done with your check-up and test?" Sasha approached Dominique upon entering the office of Dr. Benjamin Taylor. Dominique stepped out earlier to find Dr. Harris.

"Yes. I’m done with my check-up. I just called the office," Dominique lied. He didn’t want her to know that he was searching for Dr. Harris, the doctor who examined Sabrina five years ago. Anything related to Sabrina was a topic he preferred to keep hidden from Sasha.

"Oh. Did something happen?" Sasha asked, pulling Dominique to the bench. Then the two of them sat down as they waited for Dr. Taylor.

"Nothing. I just instructed my secretary regarding my appointment tomorrow. So how’s your examination?" Dominique changed the topic.

"I’m done with the fertility test, blood test, hormonal evaluations, and ultrasound. Dr. Taylor will give us further details," Sasha responded excitedly.

"Ahem," Dr. Taylor cleared his throat as he reappeared in front of the married couple. He was holding their charts and reading some of the results of their fertility tests.

"Mrs. Smith, to enhance the chances of your successful fertilization, I will recommend you some medication for two weeks to stimulate egg production. You will also have to closely monitor your menstrual cycle for us to determine the optimal time for the insemination. Just follow my instructions, Okay?" Dr. Taylor informed Sasha.

Sasha nodded eagerly. "Yes, Doc. I will."

Then Dr. Taylor turned to Dominique. "Mr. Smith, I will let you decide the method for your sperm extraction. On the day of the insemination, your semen sample will be processed in our laboratory to isolate the healthiest sperm for insemination. Just let me know if you’ve chosen your preferred method."

"Yes. I’ll think about it first," Dominique simply replied.

"If you have questions, don’t hesitate to raise them to me. I will gladly answer them." Dr. Taylor shifted his gaze alternately between Dominique and Sasha.

"We have no further questions, Doc." Sasha smiled faintly, anchoring her arms around Dominique’s elbow.

Dr. Taylor just bobbed his head. "Alright. Your next schedule with me is after two weeks. We will finalize the date of your artificial insemination."

"Thank you, Doc!" Sasha was the only one who looked happy and excited about this. Dominique was not in the mood since his mind was preoccupied with something else.

Bidding goodbye to Dr. Taylor, Sasha, and Dominique left the Summit Medical Center.

"Dom, let’s invite Ashton! I’m in the mood to celebrate!" Sasha suggested with her exhilarated voice.

"Sure, just ask him to come over to our place," Though he wasn’t in a good mood, Dominique tried his best to entertain Sasha’s suggestion.

The two agreed not to go back to their respective companies and just head home after their check-up. Ashton, who had nothing to do in his office, didn’t hesitate to accept Sasha’s invitation.

After a few minutes, Sasha, Ashton, and Dominique were gathered in the pool area of the Smith Mansion.

"Hey, guys. Is it true? Athena will sign a contract with W Diamond Group?!" Ashton asked them expectantly.

Sasha nodded in response. "Yes. She will be our product endorser!"

"Oh Damn! This is something we need to celebrate. Let’s make a toast." Ashton raised his wine glass.

Dominique remained silent as he clinked glasses with Sasha and Ashton. Ashton still had no idea of Dominique’s unique condition. So the couple couldn’t tell him about their plan of doing artificial insemination to conceive a child.

Instead of talking about it, Sasha just informed Ashton about Athena.

"Ash, do you know that Athena mentioned you during our conversation? It seems like she is looking forward to meeting you once again."

"Oh, really? You’re not kidding right?" Ashton didn’t know whether to believe it or not. "What did she say about me?"

"Hmm... she said you were very generous to her, that’s why she couldn’t forget you. She told me about her performance in the Circles Event wherein she invited you to join her on the stage while singing."

Ashton was flattered when he heard that, grinning from ear to ear like a fool. "OMG. My goddess finally took notice of me. Spending millions of diamonds on Ye-tube is all worth it!"

Sasha let out a soft giggle because of Ashton’s funny reaction. Meanwhile, Dominique was thinking about Athena’s motive.

’I think... Sasha didn’t recognize the similarity of Athena and Sabrina’s voice. How about Athena? Does she know that Sasha is my wife? I guess Athena didn’t mention our intimate encounter in the hotel. Will she try to blackmail me? What is she up to?’ Dominique contorted at that thought. He remained suspicious of Athena’s motive.

"Our endorsers will have a photoshoot two days from now. Do you want to drop by and say hello to Athena? I’ll tell you the time and location." Sasha was acting like a bridge between Athena and Ashton. She would feel more reassured if the two ended up a couple.

"Sasha! Hell yeah! You know I won’t say no to that!" Ashton exclaimed enthusiastically. "What do you want in return?"

Sasha giggled and said, "Hmm. Just simple. Become our first child’s godfather. Then you have to give our baby a generous gift!"

Ashton was taken aback when he heard that. "Wait? Are you pregnant now?!" He asked, his eyes widened in surprise.

"Not yet. But very soon," Sasha declared confidently.

Ashton just blinked several times, darting his gaze back and forth between Dominique and Sasha. Sasha looked genuinely happy while Dominique maintained his neutral expression.

"Uhm... I will be happy to hear the good news soon." Ashton forced a smile, scratching the back of his head.

Dominique didn’t comment on that. He just stood up and excused himself for a moment. As he walked away, he picked up his phone, staring at his phone screen.

’Aaron hasn’t contacted me yet. I wonder if he is busy. Perhaps, Gael forbids him to communicate with me.’ he mused to himself.

Aaron was the driving force while he started to dig into the past, investigating whether Sabrina got pregnant or not.

’I hope to hear the news about Dr. Harris’s whereabouts as soon as possible.’ Dominique clenched his fists.

[ At Goddess Elixirs Cafe... ]

Lanny and Athena stayed in the Cafe, enjoying different pastries and their refreshments.

"I’m amazed because Vladimir has established numerous businesses here– clubs and cafes. How about you, Lanny? How’s your business in Country M going? I feel guilty, because of me, you have to entrust the operations to your staff."

Lanny chuckled. "C’mon, Athena. Don’t feel guilty. My business is doing fine without me. I’m the Big Boss so I have the right to delegate the tasks to my staff. Besides, I’m paying them to do their job."

"Hehe. And honestly, this is my way of escaping from my Father’s radar. If I stayed in Country M, my terror father would just give me a hard time."

Athena could only smile at her. "Why don’t you change territory with your brother?"

Lanny took a deep sigh. "I’ve tried. But he already established his power and influence here in Country Z. I don’t want to admit it but the gaps between our power is too large."

"The reason why he stopped competing with me is that... he doesn’t see me as a threat to his position right now. There are also other powerful candidates vying for our father’s position. And we don’t know what is running on our father’s mind. We can’t guarantee that he will choose Vladimir or I to become the next Leader of our organization just because we are blood-related to him." Lanny explained to Athena the power struggle within their organization.

Athena just bobbed her head in understanding. She knew that in this world, even a family member could betray you because of greed.

"But I’m glad that you and Vladimir are working together now."

Lanny just stared at Athena meaningfully. ’It’s because of you, Athena. Can’t you see? My brother is in love with you.’

’Or perhaps, Athena chose to turn a blind eye to my brother’s feelings for now because she wanted to focus on her revenge?’ she pondered to herself.

"Speaking of the devil!" Lanny exclaimed as soon as she spotted her brother walking toward their table.

"V!" Athena called him right away, waving her hand.

As Vladimir approached their table, his eyes were solely fixed on Athena, his smile warm and inviting.

"Mind if I join you for a moment?" he asked. He pulled out a chair and seated himself at the table, still keeping his focus on Athena.

"Sure," Athena responded with a smile.

Lanny chuckled teasingly. "Well, well! Surprise visit to your store, huh? Is this part of your monitoring duties?"

Vladimir just arched his eyebrow. He knew that his sister had another meaning for that. Lanny knew that Vladimir showed up at that store today because he found out that Athena was there.

"Yes. It is." Vladimir simply remarked, ignoring his sister’s teasing smile. Then he leaned to her and whispered, "You promised me a date with her. When are you going to set us up?"

Lanny: "..."
