Chapter 300: The Sudden Proposal

For Enzo to accomplish his plan, he asked for Gael’s help and Kimmy’s cooperation. Gael owned the hospital where Kimmy was sent, that’s why he could easily disguise himself as a doctor.

Gael had already briefed the staff that Enzo would act as a doctor for today, tending to a particular patient– Kimmy Ivankov.

"Where is my daughter?" Lanny asked the nurse when she didn’t see Kimmy in the emergency room.

"Ma’am, your daughter has been transferred to the children’s ward. You can go and see her now," the nurse replied.

Before she left, the nurse reminded the bodyguards to stay behind because they didn’t want the other children to be frightened by them.

Of course, her words were just an alibi so that Lanny’s bodyguard wouldn’t follow her to the ward. Enzo needed some private time with her alone.

Lanny and Aaron proceeded to the ward. While they were on their way, Aaron received a text message from Kimmy.

He checked the message and simply gazed at Lanny. "Mom, I’ll just go to the comfort room. You can go ahead without me. I’ll just follow you."

Lanny nodded in response. Aaron was already a big boy. He wouldn’t get lost in the hospital. Furthermore, he was smart enough to remember the direction.

It did not take long before Lanny entered the private ward. "Doc, how’s my daughter?" She immediately approached the man wearing a doctor’s coat. His back was facing Lanny.

The moment he turned around, Lanny froze in her spot.

"Enzo? What are you doing here?" she asked him in disbelief.

Enzo strode toward her, closing their gaps. Without saying a word, Enzo grabbed her waist, pushing her down to the sickbed.

"I’m here to get you. Do you think you can escape from me, Lanny?" Enzo declared to her, making Lanny confused.

"What do you mean?" Lanny looked at him with puzzlement.

"You can’t leave me. And I won’t allow you to marry Dmitri," he responded firmly. "If you have to marry someone, it should be ME!"

Lanny’s heart skipped a beat the moment Enzo said those words. He was staring at her with his penetrating gaze.

"If I have to force you, then I’ll do it," he added.

"Are you crazy?" Lanny snarled at him. She tried to push him.

But Enzo pinned her on the bed, not allowing her to stand.

"Yes. Because of you. You are driving me crazy, Lanny!"

Lanny was dumbfounded. Enzo’s temperament changed and he was so aggressive today.

"I thought you didn’t want to see me again..."

Enzo smirked and replied, "Well. I changed my mind after almost getting hit by a car. I realize that life is too short. I might die anytime. So I have to do what I want while I’m still breathing."

"What? You were almost hit by a car?! Are you okay? Are you hurt somewhere?" Lanny couldn’t hide her concern for Enzo. Her eyes started scanning his body. Then she saw the bandage on his head.

She reflexively reached out, touching his head.

"Don’t change the topic, Lanny. I said you have to marry me, whether you like it or not! I’m not letting you go." Enzo caught her wrists, pinning them above her head.

"You don’t have to worry. I am now the Chairman of W Diamond Group. I can provide for our family. I can raise our daughter, Kimmy."

Lanny’s eyes widened when she heard his last words. "Did Athena tell you the truth?"

Enzo shook his head. "Don’t misunderstand. My sister didn’t betray you. Because of the accident, I regained my memories. And I remembered our deal. I succeeded in giving you an heir. It’s Kimmy."

Lanny opened her mouth only to close it again. She was at a loss for words. ’Oh my gosh! Enzo remembered everything. He knows that Kimmy is our daughter.’

"Enzo... I," Lanny looked away. She couldn’t defy her father. He already disowned Vladimir. If she would go against him, he wouldn’t hesitate to disown her as well.

"I can’t stay here. My father wants me to return home together with Kimmy and Aaron. I can’t defy him."

Enzo frowned upon seeing the hesitation in her eyes. "Forget about your father. Don’t associate yourself with the Ivankov Clan. Can’t you just choose me? Live with me. I can support you with my wealth. I will pamper you. Marry me, Lanny! I promise... I won’t betray you. I will only love you."

Lanny blinked in both shock and disbelief. "What did you just say?"

"I said forget about your father–"

"Not that... the other one." Lanny cut him off.

"I said live with me. I can support you. I’ll pamper you. So you have to marry me!"

Lanny shook her head once more. "I mean the last sentence."

"I said... I will only love you." Enzo repeated his words.

Lanny bit her lower lip as she didn’t know what to say. This was the first time Enzo had confessed to her.

Enzo caressed her cheek while staring into her eyes intently. "You heard me right, Lanny. I said... I love you. I’ve fallen in love with you. And I’ll do everything to make you open your heart to me. I’m willing to wait. So please... don’t run away from me anymore. Don’t push me away. Just give me a chance."

"Allow me to show you how much I love you. How much I care for you..." Enzo was pouring his heart out, expressing his true feelings toward Lanny.

Lanny was so stubborn so he didn’t need to restrain himself anymore. He just had to make her feel his sincerity.

"I already got Kimmy’s blessings. She also wished for us to marry each other."

Lanny’s brain functioned once again at the mention of Kimmy. She looked around the room, searching for her. But she didn’t see any sign of her daughter.

"Where is Kimmy?"

"Don’t worry. She is in the ward next door together with Aaron."

"What? So you mean–"

Enzo let out a soft chuckle before nodding his head. "Yes. I asked Kimmy’s help to bring you here."

Enzo was giving Lanny one shock after another. She didn’t expect that the father and daughter would scheme like this.

Lanny was still in a trance when Enzo pulled her up, holding her hand tightly.

"Let’s go and register our marriage today! I can’t allow you to marry someone else. If you don’t agree, I won’t let you see Kimmy ever again. Kimmy has already agreed. She won’t see you unless you show her our marriage certificate."

Lanny: "..."

’Damn! Is he threatening me with Kimmy? Is this a shotgun marriage?’

Enzo couldn’t help but smile. Lanny’s reaction was so adorable. She was completely flabbergasted by the sudden turn of events.

"Enzo, wait! Allow me to breathe first. This is quite overwhelming!" Lanny lamented, tugging Enzo’s arm.

Enzo smirked mischievously. Without giving her a moment to react, he lifted her chin and captured her lips. He kissed her passionately, leaving no room for resistance. Lanny just found herself responding to his kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck.

The two were still lost in their heated kiss when the door slid open.

"What is the meaning of this?" Miguel’s stern voice echoed in the ward.
