Chapter 278: Letting Her Go

Dominique escorted Athena inside the villa, still holding her hand.

"Sit down first. I’m going to get you some drinks."

He made her sit on the couch before heading to the kitchen. He picked a wine and brought it back to the living room.

He poured wine into their glasses. Then he grabbed it, raising it in front of Athena for a toast.

"Congratulations on your first concert." He looked at her intently, feeling proud of her.

Athena was taken aback for a moment. She recalled sharing her dream with Dominique in the past. ’Someday, I want to sing and perform in a large crowd... like a concert.’

"Thanks, Dom." Athena clicked his wine glass with hers, before taking a sip.

After that, there was a moment of awkward silence between the two as they remembered Vladimir’s actions in her concert.

"Dom, we need to talk," Athena broke the silence first.

Dominique paused for a moment, his heart suddenly becoming uneasy. Athena looked very serious.

’What is she going to say?’ He gazed at her anxiously.

"What is it?" He asked, bracing himself.

Athena put down her wine glass and turned to face him.

"Dom... we need to stop this now."

His heart sank almost instantly when her words filled his ears.

’No! I can’t. I don’t want to stop!’ He screamed in his mind. But he didn’t have the courage to say those words to her. He felt like he didn’t have the right.

"You only have two choices. Either you divorce your wife or let’s end things between us now."

Dominique remained silent as he didn’t know what to say. He was torn between the two choices. His mind was in turmoil and his heart constricted in pain.

’Is this the time to let go of Sabrina?’ Dominique clenched his fists at that thought.

Meanwhile, his silence made Athena think that he didn’t want to divorce Sasha.

’He can’t give up on her.’ Athena’s face contorted in fury and disappointment.

But little did she know, Dominique was willing to divorce Sasha, however, he was being threatened by her using her own life. Furthermore, he couldn’t ignore Sasha’s pregnancy. And this was something he couldn’t tell Athena right now.

Feeling frustrated, Athena hastily rose from her seat.

"I guess you’ve made your decision now. And you chose your wife. We have to part ways, Dominique. Don’t contact me anymore."

Athena was about to leave when Dominique suddenly pulled her, hugging her from behind. He held her so tight, stopping her from moving.

"Let me go, Dom," Athena tried to struggle against his grip.

But she stopped when Dominique’s tears fell on her shoulders. He was crying! He felt so helpless. Something was suffocating him from within.

He was afraid that once Athena left the house, he would never see her again. He would never be able to talk to her. Athena was slowly slipping away from him.

"Please... don’t go. Give me more time. I’ll fix this." Dominique begged her.

Athena clenched her teeth. She should rejoice since she made him vulnerable like this. But deep inside, she was hurt.

Dominique never cried for her when she was still Sabrina. He ruthlessly schemed against her and her family, breaking her heart mercilessly. He even asked her to abort their child!

’I can never forget this, Dominique. I won’t forgive you. Your betrayal ruined my life.’

With those thoughts in mind, Athena tried her best to break free from his tight hug.

"Release me, Dom! If you can’t let go of your wife, then you should let me go. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Starting today, we should stop seeing each other!" Athena declared firmly.

After hearing that, Dominique loosened his hold on her body. And he finally released Athena. She didn’t dare look back. She just ran away as fast as she could, leaving Dominique behind.

As she reached the door, Athena heard Dominique’s scream followed by the sound of the breaking glasses.

’I’m going to get my revenge, Dom. This is just the start. I have to break you into pieces.’ Athena murmured to herself. However, she just found herself shedding tears as she entered her car.

’Why am I crying? I shouldn’t cry for him.’ Athena wiped her tears with the back of her hand and let out a humorless laugh. She wasn’t supposed to cry, but why did it feel like her heart was being squeezed tightly at this moment? Why did her heart feel so heavy?

Athena cast one last glance at the Golden Villa. Then, with renewed resolve, she started her car and drove away.

A few minutes after she left, Dominique plunged the villa into chaos. Broken glasses scattered around the floor. The furniture turned over upside down. And Dominique lay on the floor, in the middle of the mess.

His left arm was placed over his forehead, covering his eyes filled with tears. Blood seeped from the cuts on his fists.

"I can’t let you go. I want you back... so badly. Sabrina..." Dominique called for her desperately. He punched his chest over and over again.

At that certain moment, the realization had dawned on him. He could never turn back time. Things between them would never be the same as before. He regretted everything.

"I know I hurt her... I want to make amends... But I doubt if she will still accept me. You are such a coward, Dom!"

He slammed his eyes shut, gritting his teeth. He felt so miserable right now.

It did not take long before someone entered the villa.

"Dominique! What’s going on here?" Sasha exclaimed as she ran toward him, her eyes wide with shock at the chaotic mess that had overtaken the living room.

The moment she found out that Dominique left the house, Sasha immediately drove toward the Golden Villa. She thought she would catch Dominique with another woman. But to her surprise, she saw Dominique in the middle of this messy room with his bleeding fists.

She knelt next to Dominique, trying to help him stand up. "What’s wrong? Are you drunk? Did you do this? Or perhaps, did a burglar break into the house?" She bombarded him with so many questions.

But Dominique wasn’t able to respond as he suddenly passed out.

"Hey, babe! Wake up! Are you hurt? Don’t scare me like this!" Sasha tapped his shoulders, her voice filled with panic. "Somebody, help!"
