Chapter 267: Pacifying An Angry Man

"Hey, Lanny. What’s up with the two of you? Did you argue? Why do I feel like you are both avoiding each other?" Athena asked her friend when Enzo left the living room. He volunteered to wash the dishes.

Lanny just feigned innocence by shrugging her shoulders. "Don’t think too much. Your brother might be shy. Just focus on your concert. Are you ready for your big day tomorrow?"

Lanny didn’t want Athena to be bothered by her relationship with Enzo right now. Besides, she didn’t know how she would explain the things that happened between Enzo and her.

"Yes. I’m ready. Today is my rest day before the big event. Will Kimmy and Aaron watch the concert?"

"Of course. My brother already bought our VIP seats. How’s Therese? Is she still bullying you? Her fans are very toxic. If Timothy didn’t make an official announcement then they wouldn’t stop bashing you." Lanny complained.

Athena just let out a soft giggle. "Don’t mind them. As long as my fans are well-behaved, there is no need to argue with those toxic fans. By the way, do you have any news about your father?"

Athena was still worried that Miguel would return to York City.

"Hmm. My brother’s strategy is very affected. Our Dad won’t return too soon. He is preoccupied right now with our clan’s issues. Even Dmitri went home. He was summoned back by his father. I don’t know when he is going back here."

Enzo halted on his track at the mention of Dmitri. He just finished washing the dishes and was about to go to his room when he overheard their conversation. Instead of leaving, he stayed still eavesdropping on the two ladies.

"By the way, is it true? Enzo will be staying here in your house starting today?! What if Dominique finds out? I think you should tell him to stay in my house instead," Lanny shamelessly suggested.

"The children will go back to our home country two days after your concert. I will be alone in my apartment." Lanny grinned playfully as she said it. She looked like she was up to something. Well, she had an ulterior motive. She was deliberately targeting Enzo, wondering if she could tame him again.

Just like before, Enzo started avoiding her because he was upset. She found this opportunity to make up with him.

"Hmm. Let’s ask my brother’s opinion first. I don’t mind if he will stay here or in your apartment. I’ll support him."

Lanny pouted her lips and tugged Athena’s hand. "I think he will refuse. So it would be better if you could convince him to stay with me. Remember, we are avoiding raising suspicion about your real identity. What will Dominique think if he finds out Enzo is staying here with you?"

Athena stayed silent for a moment, analyzing the situation. After a while, she smiled teasingly as she gazed at Lanny. "Why do I feel like you have another reason for offering your house to my brother, my dear friend? Hahaha. Hmm."

"Hey, Shut up, Athena! I’m just helping you out! Don’t look at me like that." Lanny immediately looked away, hiding her embarrassment. It seemed that Athena knew about her hidden motive.

Athena burst out laughing. "You are too defensive, Lanny. I’m just teasing you."

Enzo just watched the two ladies with complicated emotions. He didn’t know how he would react after listening to them. Staying at Lanny’s house was very tempting but he knew that he couldn’t accept that.

"If my presence here will bring your trouble, sis, I can find a new place. Besides, I will start working in a company. I can afford to rent an apartment." Enzo butted in, surprising the two women.

Lanny narrowed her eyes when she heard that. She pursed her lips in annoyance because of Enzo’s outright rejection of her offer.

’This guy surely knows how to hold some grudge,’ Lanny lamented to herself, taking a deep sigh.

"Bro, it’s alright. I’m not kicking you out of my house. You can stay here as long as you want." Athena scratched her face as she smiled sheepishly. She thought Enzo got offended so he wasn’t in the mood. She immediately pinched Lanny’s waist.

"Ouch, Did I say something wrong?" Lanny put on a pitiful look on her face, questioning Athena.

On the other hand, Enzo locked his gaze on Lanny as if his deep eyes were telling her– ’I’m not going to fall into your trap. I won’t allow you to play with my feelings, Lanny.’

’Damn. He is looking dagger at me. He is acting cold and indifferent again just like how he used to.’ Lanny bit her lower lip as she stared at Enzo.

Enzo was the one who looked away first before turning around to leave. He decided to take a shower to cool himself. He couldn’t stop himself from feeling mad at Lanny. He was truly upset with her because he couldn’t accept the fact that Lanny could act intimately with him without feeling anything.

’What am I to her? A toy? Someone she only wants to have fun with? Just a moment of pleasure. But at the end of the day, she will still choose Dmitri. What is my self-worth if I let her do that to me? I have to stay away from her,’ Enzo thought to himself.

As Enzo walked away, Lanny continued staring at his retreating back. ’Hmm. This guy is obviously avoiding me huh? Well. I’m Lanny Ivankov. I will get what I want... just like old times. I think I have to tame this angry lion.’

Lanny was thinking of several naughty ways how she would be able to tame Enzo, making him surrender to her. She loved being challenged by this guy. This was one of the reasons why she was drawn to him five years ago.

Just like her, Enzo didn’t have any feelings for her before. She had merely used Athena as an excuse to make him surrender to her. She made a deal with Enzo, which was how she ended up conceiving their child, Kimmy.

"Athena, your brother looks grumpy today. I think he is missing something." Lanny deliberately said those words aloud, making fun of Enzo.

Bam!

Enzo slammed the door behind him as he heard Lanny’s last remarks. It made him more irritable.

’Sigh! I really need a cold shower to cool down. Lanny is very annoying today.’ Enzo lamented.

Athena could only shake her head helplessly while giggling. "You really know how to piss my brother, Lanny."

Lanny chuckled softly. "Don’t worry. I have my way to appease him," she said with a playful wink.

Athena patted her shoulder and replied, "Good luck then. For now, I’m gonna stay in the music room."

Athena was very considerate of Lanny. She knew that staying in her music studio would give Lanny some private time with her brother. She just hoped they could talk this out peacefully whatever conflict they had.

And of course, Lanny didn’t waste any time seizing the chance to pacify Enzo. Without hesitation, she slipped into his room without Enzo’s consent, determined to accomplish her goal. She smirked naughtily when she heard the sound of the shower.
