Chapter 266: Lover’s Quarrel?

"I ended things with Alice. And now... I have nowhere else to go. Can I stay with you, sis?" Enzo asked Athena shyly, scratching his face.

After breaking up with Alice, Enzo headed straight to Athena’s penthouse.

Athena blinked in amusement. ’Is this for real?’

Athena pulled her brother, making him sit on the couch. She settled down next to him and started interrogating him.

"What did she say? Does she let you go easily? If she did, then... she doesn’t really care about you."

Enzo took a deep sigh, shifting his gaze to his fingers.

"She told me that she would prove to me that her feelings were genuine. Then, she even proposed to marry her. Dominique is not an enemy and he just wanted to protect me. Furthermore, she said... she had developed feelings for me after spending time with me for so long."

Athena gently tapped Enzo’s back, trying to comfort him. "You made the right decision, Bro. You should give each other some time and space to figure out what you’ve really felt for each other."

"You can stay here in my house. You are always welcome here." Athena added, feeling happy. She missed living together with her brother on one roof.

"Sis, I’m going to accept Dominique’s job offer. I will work in his company. I wanna know what he is planning. I’ll be your spy. I will also help you in reclaiming our company." Enzo volunteered confidently.

Part of him wanted to believe Alice’s words. If Dominique wanted him dead then he shouldn’t have survived that accident. Dominique was the one who ordered Alice to save and protect him. If Dominique was not the real enemy, then who was their real enemy?

"Okay, Bro. If that is your decision, I’ll support you. And don’t push yourself too hard. I managed to acquire some shares coming from Dominique. I am also slowly buying stocks in secret."

Enzo looked so proud of Athena. She was very determined to take back everything they lost. It was their time for revenge.

"We should kick out the remaining members of the Williams Family. They betrayed us. They are traitors. We should be careful and cautious around them." Enzo thought of how cunning their Uncle was.

"Yes. We will make them pay in due time. Their punishment awaits," Athena said meaningfully.

They were still talking when the sound of the doorbell interrupted them.

Ding! Dong!

"Sis, you have a visitor."

Athena smiled as she stared at the door. She knew that Lanny was coming over today to talk about their final preparation for the upcoming concert tomorrow.

"Bro, can you welcome my visitor? I will just prepare snacks for all of us." Athena requested him.

"Sure."

Enzo stood up and headed outside the gate. He was caught off guard upon seeing Lanny. The two of them hadn’t talked in a while after what happened between them.

"Enzo?" Lanny was also shocked to see Enzo. She didn’t expect that he was there in Athena’s penthouse.

There was an awkward moment between them as they didn’t know how to greet each other. Their last conversation didn’t end well because Lanny denied her feelings for him.

She told him that she felt nothing for him. She could offer him her body but she couldn’t give him her heart. And at the end of the day, she would still choose to marry Dmitri. What they had shared was only for one-time pleasure.

Her words hurt Enzo’s ego at that time so he decided to distance himself from Lanny. In fact, he also wanted to avoid her.

"My sister is waiting for you inside. Let’s go." Enzo was the first one to break the silence. He stepped to the side, inviting her in.

Lanny just nodded as she followed him. The two of them quietly walked toward the house.

’Why is he here? Is he just visiting his sister?’ Lanny mused to herself as she watched Enzo’s back.

If she would be true to herself then she would admit that she missed this guy. Just watching him closer made her feel the urge to hug him.

’Damn. I miss having him in my arms.’ Lanny bit her lower lip as she stared at him with desire and longing.

’I miss his kisses... his touches... and the feeling of being impaled by him. Sigh. I’m addicted to this guy. I wonder if he is still upset with me after our last encounter.’ Lanny took a deep breath, releasing her frustration.

Lanny imagined the last intimate moment he shared with him in his apartment. She couldn’t stop herself from recalling how Enzo dominated her body over and over again– his lips trailing kisses on every part of her body, his fingers caressing her sensitive flesh, and his well-toned body pressing her hard against the bed.

’I don’t know if he will still let me touch him.’ Lanny pouted her lips.

Since Lanny was distracted by her fantasy about Enzo, she barely noticed the uneven footwalk under her feet. Suddenly, her ankle twisted awkwardly, sending her stumbling forward.

Her heart skipped a beat as she realized she was falling, her arms flailing in a desperate attempt to regain her balance. But before she could hit the ground, a strong arm caught her just in time.

Thud!

"Can you be more careful? Watch your steps," Enzo scolded her, his grip firm as he held her body securely in place.

Lanny, on the other hand, blinked several times, her face blushing red from both the embarrassment and the closeness of him.

’Damn, Lanny. Stop daydreaming.’ She also scolded herself inwardly.

Enzo remained still, his dark eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that made her pulse race even faster.

’Oh God. He is hotter when he looks mad.’ Lanny gulped hard as she tried to control her excitement. She had the urge to pounce on him right now and devour him.

But she had to behave. Athena was in the house and Enzo still looked upset with her. It was very obvious because of his cold treatment.

As soon as she regained her balance, Enzo released her body. Lanny complained inwardly since she still wanted to feel his warmth.

’Why did he have to let go so soon? I want to hug him!’ Lanny chewed on her lips once more.

Enzo turned around and didn’t look back anymore. He tried to keep himself calm but whenever he would see her biting her lips, he was being reminded of the passionate kiss they shared together.

’Don’t be a fool, Enzo. Erase those lustful thoughts. Stop playing fire with her. You should behave,’ Enzo clenched his fists as he reminded himself not to be tempted by Lanny’s allure. It wasn’t right to sleep and have sex with someone else’s woman. Lanny was already engaged to Dmitri.

Upon entering the house, the two sat down on the sofa, leaving a wide space between them. Neither of them spoke, their eyes avoiding each other.

Moments later, Athena walked into the room, carrying a tray of snacks and drinks. Her steps slowed as she noticed the strange silence between the two. Usually, they would be talking, laughing, or at least exchanging casual remarks, but today was different.

She lifted an eyebrow, her gaze darting back and forth between the two. ’Eh? What’s wrong with them? Are they having LQ or something?’
