Chapter 244: Worst Timing

Dominique and Athena kissed each other for a long moment. They just stopped when they had to gasp some air. Breaking the kiss, both of them panted heavily.

Dominique rested his forehead on hers, his thumb gently caressing her cheeks.

"I love you..." He murmured accidentally, making Athena freeze in her spot.

’What did he just say?’ Athena looked at him with disbelief.

She thought Dominique would take his words back. However, he just gave her a loving smile.

"I’m hungry..." He complained, sensually licking his lips and his eyes filled with desire.

His last words snapped her out of her deep stupor.

"Hmm. Naughty." Athena gently hit his shoulder.

Dominique just chuckled and teased her again.

"I want more. Please feed me..." he paused for a moment, fixing his gaze on her kissable red lips. "Feed me with your mouth. You have to take care of me. You are my nurse and I’m your patient."

Athena arched her eyebrow and said, "Shameless jerk."

"Huh? Did you just call me a jerk?" Dominique put on a pitiful look on his face while pouting his lips.

Athena rolled her eyes skyward. "You are just taking advantage of your situation. Hmm. Fine, I’ll feed you... but I will do it with my fingers..."

After saying that, Athena picked up the plate of food he didn’t eat earlier. She started feeding Dominique.

"You should eat more so that you can recover fast."

Dominique nodded obediently as he swallowed the food inside his mouth. He had gained his appetite since Athena visited him today.

"I’ll go once you finish your food. I can’t stay here for long. Sasha might be arriving soon."

Dominique was saddened when he heard that. "Sigh. I still want to spend more time with you. I don’t want you to leave..."

"We have no choice. We can’t afford to be seen by your wife. I’m just your mistress and she is your legal wife." Athena reminded him.

Dominique’s heart clenched when Athena called herself a mistress. ’No. You are not my mistress. You are still my wife, Sab.’

Dominique reached out, holding her hand.

"I’m going to break up with her... if this is what you want. You will be my legal wife." Dominique declared to her meaningfully.

Athena was taken aback for a moment. She didn’t expect that Dominique would say those words.

’Is this true? He is now willing to get separated from his wife? Will he end things with Sasha? If yes... then this is great. Our plan is falling into place.’ Athena smiled inwardly at that thought.

"Are you serious?" Athena asked him expectantly.

However, before Dominique could answer her question, the door of the ward slid open.

"Babe, I’m back. I brought your favorite–" Sasha didn’t finish her words when she noticed the nurse standing next to Dominique’s sickbed.

"Oh, Did Dr. Santos drop by?"

"Not yet, Ma’am. I’m just here doing the rounds to check Mr. Smith’s current health status." She tried to alter her voice.

Fortunately, Athena’s back was facing Sasha so she couldn’t see her face yet.

Athena and Dominique exchanged glances with one another. Sasha showed up at the worst timing.

’Damn! I must hide my face.’ Athena thought to herself. She bowed her head, trying to avoid Sasha. She gathered the tray of food, keeping her face away from Sasha’s view.

At that certain moment, Dominique knew what he needed to do. He had to distract Sasha, diverting her attention away from Athena.

"Babe, can you please get me a towel?" Dominique requested Sasha.

"Okay." Sasha put the food down before looking for a towel.

Athena grabbed that opportunity to exit the VIP ward without letting Sasha see her face. She was in a hurry to leave so Sasha noticed her strange behavior.

"Why is she running away?" Sasha asked as she handed the towel over to Dominique.

Dominique just shrugged his shoulders, feigning ignorance.

Sasha looked at the bedside table and noticed the tray of food. "Eh, she left this. I thought she was going to collect this when she picked it up earlier."

Sasha frowned when she realized something more. "Did you eat the food?" She questioned Dominique.

"Yes. I got hungry while waiting for you," he simply replied, wiping his face using the towel.

He was just making sure that Athena’s lipstick didn’t leave a mark on his lips. Then he lay down on his sickbed. "I’m sleepy. I’m going to take a nap."

"But..." Sasha glanced at the food she bought for him. "Alright. I will just keep these foods in the fridge. You can have them later when you get hungry again."

Dominique didn’t respond any further. He just closed his eyes, reminiscing about the passionate kiss he shared with Athena.

His heart was singing in joy. He didn’t regret saying the words ’I love you’ even if it was just a slip of the tongue.

’I want to get out of this hospital as soon as possible and be with Sabrina and our son, Aaron.’ Dominique thought to himself.

Meanwhile, Athena successfully managed to escape from the VIP ward. Sasha didn’t recognize her at all.

She immediately proceeded to the restroom to change her clothes before leaving the hospital.

She was walking in the lobby when she bumped into Gael.

"Athena, why are you here?" Gael asked her in surprise.

Athena didn’t inform Gael that she was visiting Dominique today.

"Oh. I came to see you," she lied.

’Damn! What’s wrong with me? Why did I lie to Gael?’ She scolded herself inwardly.

"Right timing! I am about to see you as well. There is something I have to tell you. Let’s talk somewhere. Not here." Gael immediately grabbed Athena’s hand, leading her to the parking lot.

The two stepped inside Gael’s car.

"What do you want to tell me, Gael?" Athena asked him with curiosity.

Gael glanced at her with complicated emotions on his face.

"I have a piece of bad news. This might affect your plan."

Athena blinked in puzzlement. "Just tell me. You are killing me with your suspense, Gael!" She complained.

Gael heaved a deep sigh before he dropped the bomb in front of Athena.

"I don’t think Dominique will divorce Sasha... because she is now pregnant... with his child."
