His Mistress is His Ex-Wife
Chapter 223: Killing Intent

Chapter 223: Killing Intent

Everything happened so fast!

Dominique just felt his body being thrown out when he got hit by the speeding car. In just a blink of an eye, he felt like his life suddenly flashed in his mind.

’Am I going to die?’ Dominique thought when his body landed on the ground.

With his remaining consciousness, Dominique turned in the direction where Aaron and Athena were sitting when he left them.

He even heard their voices calling his name.

Athena: "Dom!"

Aaron: "Uncle Dom!"

The two were shocked beyond belief after witnessing the scene. Dominique was hit by the car and fell to the ground. His body was like a piece of paper that was thrown away. But the resounding impact echoed in the scene.

As if his body had a mind of his own, Aaron jumped off the bench and ran toward Dominique’s spot.

"Aaron! Wait!" Athena screamed in horror as she stood up, chasing after him.

Aaron knelt in front of Dominique, worry and concern evident in his eyes.

"Uncle Dom..." he called out, his voice trembling. Dominique was about to lose consciousness, his vision blurring as he struggled to stay awake.

Dominique wanted to tell Aaron that everything would be fine but no words escaped his mouth. He was too weak to utter a word or even move his body to hold him. His body felt numb and he was in pain.

While everyone was preoccupied with the sudden incident, the driver of the car started his engine again, planning to run Dominique over for the second time. The driver’s eyes were cold and unfeeling. He didn’t care about the child kneeling beside Dominique.

Aaron’s heart pounded in his chest as he saw the car inching forward. "No!" he screamed, looking desperately around for help.

He placed his small hands on Dominique’s chest, trying to shake him awake. "Uncle Dom, please! You have to move!"

The sound of the engine revving up grew louder. Aaron’s eyes darted back and forth between Dominique and the moving car in front. As a protective gesture, Aaron leaped to his feet and waved his arms wildly at the approaching vehicle.

"Stop! Please stop!" he yelled, his voice cracking with fear. But the driver’s expression remained impassive, his foot pressing down harder on the accelerator.

Just as the car lurched forward, a blur of motion swept across the scene. Another car intervened before it hit Aaron and Dominique. Someone’s car bumped the vehicle that hit Dominique previously, preventing it from reaching Dominique and Aaron.

Meanwhile, Athena hugged Aaron upon reaching his spot, shielding her with her body. The two cars halted mere inches from them, being protected by another vehicle. When she gazed up, she was surprised to see Luna. She was the one driving the other car.

’Why is Luna here?’

On the other hand, the other driver cursed and slammed his fists on the steering wheel.

Athena quickly rolled to her feet, scooping Aaron up in her arms. "Get out of here!" she shouted at the top of her lungs. Several bystanders finally snapped out of their stupor, rushing to help Dominique and subdue the driver.

Aaron clung to Athena, tears streaming down his face. "Uncle Dom..." he sobbed, looking back at Dominique who lay motionless on the ground.

Athena held Aaron tighter, her own eyes filled with a mix of fear and determination.

"We’ll get him help," Athena promised, her voice firm despite the chaos around them. "He’s going to be okay, Aaron. I swear." Though she said those reassuring words, deep inside she was also afraid and worried about Dominique.

The driver who hit Dominique reversed his car once again as he wanted to escape. Simultaneously, Luna started her car and sped away from the scene, not wanting to be involved. She shouldn’t be seen by Athena and Lanny. She just acted on time to protect Aaron.

Athena didn’t have time to process why Luna suddenly showed up in the scene. She immediately asked for help, rushing Dominique to the hospital. Fortunately, Lanny and Enzo arrived at the scene.

They should be enjoying this moment in the amusement park but this accident happened.

Arriving at the hospital, Dominique was immediately rushed into the emergency room. The doctor and nurses quickly checked his vitals and assessed his injuries.

In the waiting area, Aaron continued to cry, clearly traumatized after witnessing Dominique get hit by the car. The driver seemed to have a killing intent, trying to run Dominique over for the second time without any regard for the child kneeling beside him.

Kimmy and Enzo tried to comfort Aaron, while Lanny attempted to console Athena, who was still in shock.

"Hey, are you alright?" Lanny asked softly, holding Athena’s trembling hand.

Athena glanced at Lanny, her eyes reflecting a mix of fear, anger, and confusion. "Lanny," she croaked, her voice breaking.

Lanny looked at her worriedly, rubbing Athena’s back. She could tell that Athena was not okay. She was trembling with both fear and anxiety.

"Here, drink this water to calm down," Lanny said, offering her a bottle of water.

But Athena shook her head, her hands and clothes still covered in Dominique’s blood from when she had held him earlier.

"I hate him... but I don’t want him to die like this," Athena whispered, her voice barely audible.

Lanny sighed, her heart aching for her friend. "Athena, it’s okay to feel conflicted. Just breathe. Dominique can’t die just yet. He has to pay for everything he did. He’ll pull through this."

Athena glanced at Lanny, her eyes welling up with tears. "I don’t understand why I am feeling this way. I shouldn’t worry about him, right? But I can’t bear to see Aaron crying for him like this." She glanced at Aaron who was with Enzo and Kimmy.

Lanny gently wiped a tear from Athena’s cheek. "You don’t wish for him to die because you are a good person. Don’t think about anything else. Just be strong for Aaron. Let the doctors take care of Dominique."

Athena nodded, though her eyes remained distant. After a while, she recalled something.

"Lanny, I saw Luna... in the scene. Do you think... Vladimir has something to do with this?"

Lanny was rendered speechless when Athena uttered those words.
