Chapter 222: Accident

"Everyone is here!" Kimmy excitedly blurted out when Enzo and Athena returned.

Dominique didn’t expect to see Enzo. He thought he was going to hang up with Athena and Aaron, yet today, they had three additions– Lanny, Kimmy, and Enzo.

Nevertheless, he still wanted to enjoy and savor this moment together with his son and Athena.

The two men just greeted each other with a nod.

"Let’s buy a ticket!" Kimmy pulled Enzo’s hand toward the ticket booth.

"Easy. Here. Take your ice cream and cotton candy first." Enzo handed her the snacks.

Meanwhile, Aaron approached Dominique and Athena. "Uncle Dom. Aunt Athena. Shall we buy a ticket too? I want to ride a roller coaster with you."

"Sure, Baby. Let’s go."

As they lined up, Lanny grabbed Athena’s elbow, whispering something. "Do we have to ride this as well? I don’t think this is a great idea." Lanny was hesitant to try the roller coaster ride.

Athena giggled because she seldom saw Lanny becoming anxious. Now, she recalled that Lanny didn’t like extreme rides like this.

"But the kids want us to join them. We have no choice, Lanny." Athena teasingly tapped her shoulder.

Lanny could only pout her lips as she followed the kids. Aaron and Kimmy were the big bosses today.

After buying tickets for their rides, the three pairs settled on their respective seats. The sitting arrangement was this– Aaron was paired up with Dominique in the first row, Kimmy with Enzo in the second row and Athena and Lanny became seatmates in the third row.

When the engine started, Lanny braced herself, holding tightly on her seat. Athena just giggled seeing her reaction. Then she shifted her gaze in front. Her eyes fell on Dominique’s back. He was supporting and holding Aaron securely.

She felt a rush of warmth deep inside her heart as she watched the father and son duo. She had never imagined seeing Aaron and Dominique bonding like this. Aaron looked very happy.

’Sigh. Am I doing this right? I don’t want to involve Aaron in my revenge. But now, he is becoming closer to Dominique.’ Athena sighed helplessly.

’How can I tell him that this guy is the same person who wanted to get rid of him before? My son will just get heartbroken. I can’t tell him the truth to prevent him from getting hurt and heartbroken.’ Athena made a mental note.

Athena’s train of thought was interrupted when Lanny began to scream as the roller coaster moved.

Kimmy who was sitting in front of them turned to take a look at her mother. "Mommy, don’t be afraid. Daddy Enzo and I are here. We are not letting you fall."

Enzo, on the other hand, let out a soft chuckle. He felt so amused seeing Lanny like this. This woman was always fierce and composed. This was a rare sight to behold.

"Yes. Don’t be afraid. We got you!"

But when the roller coaster accelerated, Kimmy started to yell as well, including Enzo. Athena could only laugh while enjoying the ride. Dominique and Aaron were also having fun.

Aaron screamed but not in fear, it was because of excitement and adrenaline rush.

"You amazed me, Aaron. Why aren’t you afraid?" Dominique chuckled as he eyed his son with pride.

"Because I’m a brave man, Uncle Dom!" Aaron promptly responded.

Dominique just chuckled, scratching his face.

"Uncle Dom, thank you for freeing your schedule today just to join us. I truly appreciate it. I hope your wife doesn’t mind this."

Aaron remembered that Sasha and Dominique had a serious conversation earlier. Though he didn’t know what they were talking about, he noticed that the two were arguing.

"Oh, Don’t worry about your Aunt Sasha. We talked and I explained some things to her. She clearly understood it." Dominique reassured him.

Aaron nodded with a smile. Then he turned around to check on Athena.

"Is Aunt Athena okay?"

Dominique also followed his line of sight.

At first, Athena was fine. However, when the roller coaster reached the highest peak of the trail, Athena’s memory of jumping off the bridge flashed in her mind.

This triggered her memory to experience the same feeling of falling from the bridge five years ago.

Athena’s face turned pale as she shut her eyes. Her heart began beating so fast. Before she knew it, her head became dizzy, her vision blurry.

"Uncle Dom. I think something is wrong with Aunt Athena!" Aaron uttered worriedly as he watched Athena.

Dominique also noticed it. They were still in the middle of the ride. Was she afraid of this?

Lanny, who was sitting next to Athena, didn’t notice anything since her eyes were closed as she kept screaming. Before she knew it, Athena had already passed out.

"Mommy! Look out! Aunt Athena fainted!!!" Aaron screamed to warn Lanny so that she could check on Athena.

Kimmy and Enzo were also alerted by Aaron’s shout. They also turned to look at Athena.

Meanwhile, Dominique’s heart sank in fear and nervousness when Athena suddenly collapsed in front of them.

’Damn! I need to get her out of here fast.’

Athena opened her eyes only to see Dominique’s worried look.

"Athena, are you okay? How do you feel?" He asked her as he helped her out to sit up.

"Aunt Athena. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have forced you to ride the roller coaster with us." Aaron sounded regretful, blaming himself for what happened.

They were now sitting on the bench. Athena was in the middle of Aaron and Dominique. Enzo and Lanny together with Kimmy went to buy water for Athena to drink.

"Oh, don’t apologize, Baby. I am not afraid of riding a roller coaster. I just fainted because of a headache. Don’t blame yourself." Athena held Aaron’s hand, consoling him.

"We are here to enjoy ourselves. So don’t be sad anymore." Athena cupped Aaron’s face.

Aaron just smiled faintly as he nodded.

"But we need to check your health first, Aunt, before we continue strolling around here. Uncle Dom and I will bring you to the hospital for your check-up. If everything is fine then we will return here. Right, Uncle Dom?" Aaron sought Dominique’s support.

"Yes, that’s right," Dominique replied.

"Oh. No need to do that. I’m fine." Athena didn’t want to ruin this moment just because she fainted. She knew that Aaron had been looking forward to this day.

"No, Aunt. Your health comes first," Aaron insisted, not allowing Athena to say ’No’.

If those words came from Dominique, she would definitely argue. However, it was Aaron who spoke those words so she didn’t have the heart to refuse him.

"Alright, Baby! You are the boss!" Athena finally agreed.

Dominique and Aaron exchanged meaningful glances with one another. Dominique was right! He let Aaron convince Athena because he knew that Athena would listen to Aaron, instead of him.

"Just wait here. I’ll just get my car." Dominique smiled at Athena, gently patting her back.

Athena just heaved a sigh of defeat. "Okay."

Dominique turned to Aaron. "Can you watch over her while I’m not around?"

"Of course, Uncle Dom. Just leave Aunt Athena to me. I’ll take care of her."

Dominique chuckled, ruffling Aaron’s hair. He stood up and crossed the street to get his car at the parking lot. But suddenly...

A fast-approaching car appeared from out of nowhere, driving at high speed.

Crash!

Thud!

Athena: "Dom!"

Aaron: "Uncle Dom!"
