Chapter 124: He Didn’t Cheat!

[ At Country Z: Engagement Party ]

The most awaited event of the two families- the Jones & Williams Family, was being held in Jones Hotel and Resort. Melody and Oliver’s close friends were all present. Representatives from media and entertainment news were also invited to cover this engagement.

Tomorrow, this would be part of the headline in the business entertainment section– the union of the two wealthy families in York City.

Ashton, Timothy, and Dominique attended the party because Oliver informed them that Athena would perform during the party. It was a surprise to his other guests. Melody and her family didn’t know about Athena’s performance tonight.

"Congrats, Bro!" Ashton approached Oliver. He was dragging Dominique with him.

"I’m glad you made it tonight." Oliver and Ashton gave each other a ’Bro-Hug’.

"Of course. I will never let this opportunity go to waste. I want to witness Athena perform live again! She is the reason why I came here!" Ashton admitted.

Oliver leaned closer to Ashton and whispered, "How about Dominique? I don’t remember him agreeing to attend my party tonight." Oliver stole a glance at Dominique.

Ashton just smiled awkwardly. He was also clueless as to why Dominique willingly attended tonight’s party. He thought he hated interacting with the Williams Family.

"Maybe he is bored at home," Ashton simply replied.

"How about his wife? Where is Sasha? I didn’t see her." Oliver scanned the crowd, searching for Sasha.

Ashton scratched his face. "She is not invited. Melody and Sasha had an argument a few days ago."

Oliver frowned when he heard that. He didn’t know about this argument. Was it serious?

"Melody didn’t mention it to me."

Oliver wasn’t surprised because he witnessed how Melody created a ruckus at Goddess Elixirs Cafe, picking a fight with Lanny and Athena.

The two men were still talking when Timothy butted in. "Oliver, have you seen Athena? Have she arrived?"

Dominique’s expression darkened when Timothy looked for Athena. Timothy was known to be a Cassanova. He didn’t want him near Athena.

"She’s here in the hotel. She is preparing for the performance. I gave her a private room. She is with her manager right now," Oliver replied.

"By the way, I am curious. How did you end up inviting her? I am surprised that Athena will do this special performance just for your engagement party. What did you do? What kind of deal have you offered her?" Timothy asked him expectantly.

"Haha! It’s a secret between Athena and me. I won’t tell you." Oliver proudly said, letting out a soft chuckle.

Meanwhile, Timothy just smirked, casting a meaningful look at Dominique. Her deal with Athena had something to do with Sasha and Dominique.

On the other hand, the crease on Dominique’s forehead deepened further. ’Timothy and Oliver met Athena. I wonder if she accepted their offer.’

But then again, he vividly recalled the agreement he had forged with Athena, one that explicitly forbade him from interfering with her work. That was part of their deal.

’Deal? Did she make a deal with Timothy and Oliver as well? What kind of deal? Did Athena strike similar deals with Timothy and Oliver?’ He started to overthink, having some wild thoughts.

The notion of an "indecent proposal" lingered in Dominique’s thoughts, an unsettling possibility that fueled his jealousy with speculation.

’No. I must see her. I need to confront her about this.’ Dominique clenched his fists tightly.

Without further ado, Dominique dashed out of the venue to find Athena’s room. He took the lift, heading to the front desk.

When the elevator reached the lobby floor, the door slid open. Dominique stepped out of the elevator and bumped into someone.

"I’m sorry–" the guy apologized but he stopped mid-sentence when he saw Dominique’s face. He recognized him.

"Enzo," Dominique mumbled his name.

There was a hint of surprise in Dominique’s eyes upon seeing Enzo. He was wearing formal attire as if he was also attending a party in the hotel.

"Why are you here?" he asked Enzo.

Instead of answering him, Enzo just glared at him with his blazing eyes.

’Dominique Smith! He is my sister’s ex-husband! The bastard who betrayed my sister and deceived our whole family!’

Enzo’s body reflexively moved, grabbing Dominique by his collar as he pushed him back to the elevator.

They were the only people inside the elevator.

"You!" Enzo gritted his teeth.

Even though he had forgotten about the past, he could feel that he hated this guy after seeing his face again.

’I have deep-rooted resentment against this guy. Though I’ve forgotten about it, my heart remembers my anger and hatred toward this man.’

"You are the reason for my family’s suffering. You hurt my sister!" Enzo threw a punch, hitting Dominique’s jaw.

Thud!

Dominique staggered backward. He didn’t retaliate. He just rubbed his jaw and looked at Enzo with disbelief.

"Have you recovered your memory?"

Enzo was taken aback when he heard Dominique’s question.

’How did he know that I lost my memory?’ Enzo eyed him suspiciously.

"Did you send someone to monitor me? How come you know I have an amnesia? Were you the one who caused my accident?" Enzo confronted him, his voice filled with accusation.

Dominique realized that he had a slip of the tongue. It turned out Enzo hadn’t completely recovered his memory yet.

"Believe me or not... I have nothing to do with your accident."

Ding!

Their conversation was interrupted when the elevator’s door slid open and a hotel guest joined them inside.

"Follow me!" Enzo gestured for Dominique to step out of the elevator.

Dominique maintained his composure as he followed Enzo behind. The two found the smoking area of the hotel. The two went there to talk privately.

"What do you want to talk about? If you haven’t recovered your memory, how did you recognize me?" Dominique bombarded him with questions. He wondered who told Enzo about his betrayal.

’Was it Athena? She was the one who visited Enzo at Fortuna Grande Island. This is so suspicious. Does Athena know my story?’

Dominique had a nagging feeling about this. Athena was still a mystery to him. There were still lots of things he didn’t know about her.

"It’s none of your business," Enzo replied nonchalantly.

"I’m here to ask you something. I tried to kill you five years ago, why didn’t you press charge against me? Aren’t you afraid that I might kill you again? Or perhaps, you believed that I died?"

Enzo doubted Dominique’s intention. There might be a reason behind it. Because of this, Enzo’s suspicion of Dominique’s involvement in his accident intensified further.

Dominique stared at Enzo’s eyes and answered him, "Because you are Sabrina’s brother. You are the only family she had left."

Enzo laughed sarcastically when he heard that. "Don’t be a hypocrite. As if you cared about her! Is it because of your guilt?"

Dominique didn’t respond to him. He just stayed quiet. He could feel that Enzo would never believe his words.

"No matter what I say... I know you won’t believe me." Dominique smiled bitterly. "I couldn’t blame you. I was such an asshole. I committed a great mistake," he admitted.

Dominique moved closer to him, holding Enzo’s shoulders. "Sabrina is gone... and I... I regret everything."

"If I could only bring her back to life... I’m willing to do anything." He sounded sincere as he confided with Enzo.

"Enzo, I’ve found Sabrina’s body. I plan to bury her remains beside your parents’ grave."

Enzo frowned in displeasure, removing Dominique’s hand that was holding his shoulders.

’My sister is still alive. Lanny told me not to tell this jerk. It’s good to see him suffer and miserable because of his regret and guilt.’

"Dominique Smith, you disgust me. Stop pretending already. Just give her remains to me. I will be the one to bury my sister. You don’t have the right to do it. Just stay with your new wife!" Enzo pushed Dominique away from him.

But to his surprise, Dominique suddenly kneeled in front of him, leaving Enzo at a loss for words.

"I apologize... I can’t bring your sister back. I’m so sorry. This is all my fault. She and our unborn child died because of my foolishness. What I did was unforgivable. I can understand if you won’t be able to forgive me. But I just want you to know... that I regret everything."

"The truth is... I love Sabrina for real. I love your sister... even now." Dominique confessed to Enzo.

Enzo was stupefied when he heard that.

’Damn! He is a great liar. I almost believed him. But Lanny and Athena warned me. This guy is a good manipulator. A great actor! No wonder he deceived me and my sister!’

"I don’t believe you. You cheated on her! What audacity to tell me you love her. I just heard a very ridiculous joke from you, Mr. Smith!" Enzo mocked him.

"I didn’t cheat on her. I just made her believe that I cheated on her with Sasha!" Dominique explained.

Enzo was rendered speechless once again.
