Hero or Villain, Both
Chapter 87: Meeting the hero

Chapter 87: Meeting the hero

A week later, I was heading to the palace with my parents and the Denoir Family.

At first, I was supposed to go on my own, but...

"I want to go to the banquet with him."

With just these words from Debora, everything had been changed.

Viscount Denoir’s plan had been to keep the matter between me and Debora under wraps until everything had been set up. After all, having too many people sniffing around for information wasn’t a good thing.

But there was nothing that could be done with how much of a doting father Viscount Denoir was.

With how much she complained, the Denoir couple had to turn to my parents.

My parents also couldn’t say anything since it seemed like they already took the Denoir Family as their in laws.

So that was why they threw it all to me.

Or rather, they threw it all at me.

While we were going together to the banquet at the palace, I had to make sure that we didn’t seem like we were too close.

The idea was that our families were going as neutral allies. We didn’t want to associate with anyone, which was why I was the one that was escorting Debora to the banquet.

Only it was a bit hard to do this with the way that Debora acted.

It was a good thing that no one seemed interested in us at all.

The moment that we arrived at the banquet, there was already a strange mood that was in the air.

Everyone seemed anxious about something, but they also seemed excited at the same time.

Even without my parents or the Denoir Family warning me, I already knew that the situation was. After all, this was something that had been announced a long time ago.

No, even without them announcing it, I would have known since the hero was one of my avatars in the first place.

With our shared senses, it was only natural that I knew everything that was happening.

Right now, I could even tell that Gran Jurad was already in the palace which was most likely the reason that everyone was like this. The hero had a very special status in this kingdom and in this world.

That was why everyone wanted to get closer to the hero.

That was everyone except for me.

I wanted to have as little as possible to do with the hero since it was the best way to keep people from creating associations between the two of us.

I wanted to keep the lives of these two personas of mine as far away as possible from each other.

At first, the banquet went on as normal as the nobles mingled with each other. But it was clear that they were holding back and they were looking around as if they were waiting to see something.

It was obvious that they were all waiting to find any traces of the hero.

Only I knew that the hero was currently hiding in the back.

It wasn’t that he wanted to remain in the back, it was because he was being kept there by the servants of the castle who told him that it wasn’t the right time yet.

The first highlight of this banquet was the arrival of the royals.

Abel XIV was the one that led the royals into the banquet and greeted all of the nobles as his subjects. He went on to talk about a few things that only these nobles would be concerned with.

As far as anyone was concerned, it really seemed like a normal banquet.

That was until Abel XIV suddenly said, "Now, I’m sure that everyone has been waiting for this."

As soon as he said this, everyone immediately fell silent and paid close attention to him.

Though from the looks in their eyes, it was clear that they only cared about one thing.

Abel XIV naturally knew this as well, so he didn’t waste too long on giving an introduction before bringing out the person that everyone wanted to meet.

Seeing him from across the room really was a strange feeling, especially since we shared senses. To make sure that I didn’t have double vision, I had to deliberately make sure I didn’t accidentally tap into Gran Jurad’s senses.

At the same time, I could tell that he was doing the same thing since both of us were a bit distracted.

Once Gran Jurad had been brought out, everyone started to swarm him as if they wanted to grab a piece of him. It was like he was the best piece of meat in the market that everyone wanted to grab.

But that wasn’t the case for my family or the Denoir Family.

At the same time, there were several other nobles that remained behind as well.

These were all the neutral factions that didn’t want to get involved in this matter.

It was a good thing that they weren’t forcing us to get involved in this matter.

After all, I really didn’t want to get anywhere near Gran Jurad just in case someone figured something out.

"You know, you and the hero look quite alike."

The moment that I heard this, I couldn’t help trembling.

But the next words that she said let me relax a bit.

"Though when it comes to appearance, you’re clearly more handsome than him."

There was a part of me that even gave a bitter laugh when I heard this.

After all, even I had to admit that Gran Jurad was better looking than me.

It wasn’t to say that I was ugly, but he was something else.

If it wasn’t for Debora’s skewed tastes, then perhaps she wouldn’t have said that.

But since it was Debora who was saying this, that was why I couldn’t help feeling a bit bitter regarding this.

Still, I had to admit that she had quite sharp eyes that she was able to pick up on something that no one else did.
