Hero or Villain, Both
Chapter 88: Have you considered?

Chapter 88: Have you considered?

It really was tiring being surrounded by all these nobles like this.

But the most tiring thing of all was definitely the fact that the main body was in the same banquet hall as me.

The fact that we were in the same place really made it hard for both of us to concentrate since losing our focus just once could mean slipping into each other’s senses.

This wasn’t what happened in the past, but it became worse the more that we used the Shared Senses Skill. It just became second nature for us to slip into sharing senses with each other.

It was fine if we were in different places, but it definitely was hard to maintain our own line of view when we were so close together.

This was something that had to be worked on in the future since it was likely that we would come into close contact with each other in the future as well.

It wasn’t as if we could avoid each other since the roles that we took forced us to come together.

Especially for me and Val Zahar.

We were the hero and the demon king after all.

Luckily for me, I was saved by the king after a while.

Though it wasn’t really luck either since I had been expecting to be called into a different room by the king.

When I heard about this banquet from the main body, we had all come to the same conclusion.

"The king must want something or else he wouldn’t be hosting this banquet."

It was the only explanation as to why Abel XIV was summoning all the nobles all of a sudden like this. They were nothing more than his pawns to create a reason for calling me, the hero back.

Once we arrived in the private room, he didn’t waste any time in saying, "I have a request for you as the hero."

I couldn’t help raising a brow to show that I was surprised by how forward he was being, but I also didn’t remain like that for long as I gave a nod to show that I was willing to listen.

The request that Abel XIV had was that there was a village that was in danger that needed our help.

Once I heard this, I couldn’t help raising a brow again.

After all, just a single village in danger didn’t seem like it was serious enough to require the hero to step in. If the Abel Kingdom wasn’t even capable of defending a single village, then there was no way that they would be considered a powerful country.

There were no citizens that would follow a king that couldn’t defend them.

Seeing the way that I looked at him, Abel XIV revealed a faint smile before saying, "It is indeed more than just that."

His expression became serious again as he said, "We’ve found traces of the demons."

Andrea was the one that reacted the most intensely this time as she couldn’t help leaning forward.

Seeing this, Abel XIV said, "It’s not the same ones that you encountered, they’re a completely different group."

But after he said this, he also couldn’t help knitting his brows as well as he said, "I never thought that the demons had already infiltrated this deeply into our kingdom. It seems that I’ve been letting things slide a bit too much lately, but that won’t happen any longer."

A determined look appeared on his face after he said this, but then he turned to look at me to ask, "Well, will you go?"

Could I say no?

With the way that they all looked at me, it really was hard for me to say no.

At the same time though, it wasn’t as if I was going to say no.

This was a chance for me to take care of some more demons. At the same time, I could see if there were any other demons that were using Val Zahar’s name to frame him.

It would give me some good information that I could pass onto that idiot demon.

There was even a small part of me that was looking forward to it since it would let me rub it in his face that he didn’t have control over the demon race.

So with a nod, "I’m the hero, it’s only natural that I would go to where the demons are."

Abel XIV looked at me with a look of approval, but it didn’t take long for his expression to change. With the way that he looked at me, I couldn’t help feeling that there was something strange about it.

It was almost as if there was something else that he wanted from me...

"Have you ever considered becoming a noble?"

I was certainly caught off guard when I heard this.

Out of all the things that I could have expected, this was not one of them.

After all, there was no reason for him to suddenly offer the chance to become a noble to me like this.

But I could tell that he was serious about this.

In the end, I slowly shook my head and said, "No, I’ve never actually considered this and I don’t think that I will in the future. It would seem wrong to become a noble as the hero, right?"

Abel XIV just revealed a faint smile that seemed like he thought otherwise, but he didn’t say anything else after I said this.

Just like that, we were sent away and it was only Andrea that remained.

They were father and daughter, so it wasn’t as if it was strange if they wanted to talk alone.

But when the door closed...

"Well, I tried. It seems like he’s just not interested."

"I don’t need your help." Andrea said with an embarrassed look on her face.

Abel XIV looked at her with a faint smile before saying, "But you’re my daughter, how could I not want to help you?"

Andrea just put her face in her hands as her face turned completely red.
