Chapter Ninety-One – Killed
The instrumentalists stopped playing as commotion rose within the halls. "Rogues! They are everywhere!"
"The King Asher had been ambushed. Someone is dead!"
Laurel saw Sorren leave his seat, she slowly stood up. Rogues dared attack a Lycan Kingdom, and at the Lycan Packs Meeting? So they were fools with no fear at all?
A young Lycan sped out of the door. Sorren recognized it was the Lycan that attacked their pack before. He must have gone looking for the Alpha.
"This won’t do." He mouthed, looking around the hall as others panicked. For rogues to have come this close and even attacked the King, then they had an insider.
It was only few hours ago that Asher was declared King so the Kingdom hasn’t yet been informed. The rogues surely got informed. But who would do that?
Sorren snapped his head to his older brother who was still with the Bloody Moon Alpha.
That’s the only one Sorren could suspect as he was new but Sorren’s eyes caught the quick smirk that appeared on the other young Lycan’s face.
Sorren watched carefully. The young Lycan gestured for his Alpha to leave to safety. The lady with them nodded at the young Lycan before they separated.
The young Lycan rushed out of the hall and towards the forest around the hall. Sorren immediately followed.
Laurel looked from the retreating Sorren to the crowd controlling Stefan. She noticed Sorren watching the red eyed Lycan. He must suspect him. She did too.
The princess pointed at the werewolfess. "Stay here. I’d be back." She left but returned. "Tell the Alpha I left to bring Sorren back and not because I was curious too. And, keep the charm close."
The werewolfess nodded, holding the charm close to herself. Laurel left the hall, running after Sorren. Her wolf got closer to improve her sense of smell.
Immediately, Laurel slowed down catching the disgusting smell of the rogues. Lycan Rogues.
She’d always been taught that no matter the rank a wolf or Lycan was, when they were rogue, they were more terrifying as they were unpredictable and fought to live.
Which meant, even if they were Lycans in warrior ranks, they weren’t average so this wouldn’t be easy. While her thoughts still ran, a Lycan jumped towards her.
Laurel forcefully halted, missing it’s landing. It faced her swiftly, flashing it’s sharp fangs and claws. More snarls came from the shadows around her.
Her body ran cold at that moment. She calculated that they were three. Three monsters! Her eyes tarried on the creature before her.
It was a beast which looked like a wolf, standing on it’s hind legs. It was taller than she was too. Was this the ’wolf’ form of Lycans? She had never seen one before.
It was ugly and reminded her of creatures from a scary book, creatures of terror. No wonder Lycans rarely shifted.
More of those monsters crawled from her surroundings, flexing their claws and sharp teeth. Their fur was dark, almost blending with the dark forest.
The Princess began second guessing everything.
Height and size wasn’t on her side with these things, only strength and speed, perhaps. She’d use them to practice tapping into Elma’s strength without shifting.
She stooped a bit to a defensive stance. Since she was surrounded, she’d have to defend for a while.
One of them swooped down at her leg but quickly, she retrieved it and kicked him on the head, sending him down.
The other two charged at her, swiping their claws aimlessly at her. It made her realize they weren’t very trained and were only trying to get her agile parts.
She slapped one of them and her claws grazed his head. She made sure it wasn’t enough to kill him. Killing anyone wasn’t yet in her plans.
A terrifying howl came from the one she kicked and he threw himself to her, Laurel couldn’t dodge so held his arms above her. The others charged at her.
This was intense, she knew they’d really hurt if they got close. Channeling Elma’s strength to her hands, Laurel raised the Lycan and threw it on another.
The action surprised her but she had no time to gloat as claws dug into her arm. She froze for a second as the pain coursed through her body.
As she turned to it, a punch followed, sending the Lycan away from her. She sent sporadic blows with her claws, at it’s chest.
The pain searing in her arm reminded her of father’s brutality, the anger made her increase her blows on it’s chest till it stopped resisting. There was another snarl.
In fear that her body would sustain another cut, Laurel screamed as she dug her hand forcefully into the chest of the attacking Lycan. Her eyes widened when she realized.
There was a low thud as the Lycan she sent blows to fell to the ground. Laurel’s eyes slowly shifted to it and she saw his insides were visible, and blood was everywhere.
A lump grew in her throat. She turned to the third one that she threw the Lycan at. He was passed out by the weight thrown at him.
But... Laurel’s eyes retuned to the Lycan in front of her, were her hand was buried in it’s chest. Elma clouded her thoughts and made her retrieve her arm.
A scream left Laurel as the object in her hand moved. A heart! She held a living heart! It fell off her hands as the Lycan dropped to the ground, a hole in it’s chest.
"Did they expect a cat fight from you? You are no longer a weak princess, Laurel. Use them to break Delta rank." Elma said coldly.
Laurel’s breathing became irregular, she stared at her bloody hand. She held a heart. She killed someone. Two even. That wasn’t part of her plan.
"But... Elma, I killed...I killed...Ahhhh!" A heart wrenching scream left her and her knees fell to the ground.
